Quotes of the day

“‘I am leading a lot of polls and doing very well,’ Trump told Fox News Monday as part of his weekly segment for the network. ‘I can tell you I am their worst nightmare.’…

“‘I am not the person they want to run against,’ he said. ‘They know it, and I know it, and I know it for a fact. Because I have a lot of people that, frankly, are contributors to him and they tell me, ‘Donald you are not the person you want to run against.’”

***
“‘I know for a fact that I am the only candidate they are concerned with,’ Trump told The Daily News. ‘They are very concerned because I am challenging him as to whether or not he was born in this country where there is a real doubt.’…

“‘There is no issue that irritates the White House more than the birther issue,’ said Larry Sabato, director of the University of Virginia’s Center for Politics.

“‘They view it as a symbol for those who refuse to acknowledge Obama as a legitimate president,’ he said. ‘The fact that someone as prominent as Trump is bringing this up is a source of real frustration.’

“Sabato predicted that despite the noise Trump is making, he would soon fade away.”

“Let’s face it: Obama loves when people question his place of birth. Every minute we spend discussing if Obama was born in Kenya is a minute we don’t spend saying that our weakling, perpetually golfing president has only made our economy worse and led us into a third war with nary a word of discussion. It’s time spent not pointing out that Obama promised the most outrageous things in the world – oceans would lower!–and delivered on exactly zero of those promises. Trump dragging this issue back into the spotlight is only good for one person: the American-born Barack Obama.

“Is it unfair, all you birthers out there? Sure, it’s unfair. Republicans waiting for the media to be fair to them will be waiting a long time. The Barack Obama birth certificate story is very similar in nature to the George W. Bush AWOL story. Both have no merit, both are the ‘smoking gun’ opponents hope will end their hated politicians career. Of course, our venerable media picked over the Bush records with a fine tooth comb. Associated Press sued to get the documents. Dan Rather and 60 Minutes wanted so badly to believe that the president had fudged his service that they aired the most obvious forgery of all time in primetime.”

‘They view it as a symbol for those who refuse to acknowledge Obama as a legitimate president,’ he said. Are you kiddin’ me? Zero and his team have nurtured this birther thing since the beginning. It’s all part of the smoke and mirror image. Trump is not going to run. This is his s & m self promotion image building. Look at how the ratings for his stupid tv show have gone up since he started this ‘investigation’. I would love for the truth to come out about Barry, but it’s not going to happen this way.

Kissmygrits on April 12, 2011 at 8:40 AM

My whole life I have never had to produce a “long form” birth certificate for anything until about a year ago when my mother gave me the legal document called a “Certificate of Live birth”. I have the same small paper called a certification of birth that I’ve had since 2nd grade issued by the state of Massachusetts with a seal and the signature of William Metzger. It even has tape on it and fits in my wallet. I found it doing taxes, it doesn’t even list my parents. I’ve used it for employment, drivers license, and anything else.

You people are full of it.

It’s not going to come out by people referring to those demanding production of his birth certificate as birthers. The birthers are those who insist he was born in Hawaii despite scant evidence of same and despite his refusal to release his birth certificate and hospital records. Anybody who claims to know where Obama was born is lying. None of us knows.

And no, this issue is not helping Obama.

Demanding that Obama prove his eligibility is not nuts. It is nuts to suggest holding Obama to the same standard as everyone else is nuts.

Yes, this issue IS helping Obama and that is specifically WHY he won’t release the long form birth certificate. DUH.

The simplest explanation is usually true and here it is:

Obama was born in Hawaii, but refuses to release the records that would prove it beyond a shadow of a doubt because it keeps the issue alive to poison opposition to Obama.

How much more OBVIOUS can it be ?

deadrody on April 12, 2011 at 9:01 AM

Oh and Magnus, your “long form birth certificate” is not an issue. Know why ?

You aren’t President.

And therefore your citizenship isn’t specifically required by the US Constitution. You let me know when you ARE President and then we can talk about YOUR long form birth certificate.

I can’t believe, for example, that Sarah Palin gave her ‘more power to him’ remark when asked about Trump’s aggressive posturing on this issue. The advisor who told Sarah it was a good idea to be even remotely connected with this nonsense deserves to be fired now, today, with a quickness. That faint gurgling sound you’re hearing is what remains of her credibility going down the drain.

Embarrassing, all of it.

troyriser_gopftw on April 12, 2011 at 12:02 AM

What’s embarrassing is that you don’t seem to have the first clue about what it means to leave hanging doubts about your political opponents. A tactic. This is the game the media plays with GOP candidates trying to get them to do the job of the base–protecting their man. She stated her position on the matter clearly. Is she supposed to go the extra, extra mile to appease your mortification? Get real.

The “blinders” (those who can’t see the truth / facts if they hit them in the face) may want to have a look at this – http://canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/35298

Be sure to take the time and read “investigative reports 1 & 2 – in paragraph 16 or 17. Apparently there will be much more evidence, and mainly “proof” in the coming weeks, months. This seems to be only the tip of the iceberg…

The Donald needs to keep the heat on – this DOES adversely affect Barry Soetero – it gives GOP cover and keeps the “birthers” moniker off the probable front-runners.

Keep on denying and we’ll all end up in “re-education” camps.

One other thing – you may want to read beyond the headline when you’re trying to expand your horizons – if you are truly trying to get to the truth; unless of course you are suffering from the Ostrich syndrome.

Pretty interesting because I have a small birth certificate like that from MA and it was unacceptable for my marriage license, my passport and every other thing I’ve ever tried to use it for except school. It’s sitting right here and it’s useless.

Here’s what it says:

No. XXXXX

The following is an abstract from the Record of Births in said City: – No XXXX

He’s either a liar or just so young and inexperienced he’s never tried to actually use that useless abstract he’s waiving around as some sort of proof that Obama has released all the records he can (you know, like every other presidential candidate in history).

Look, when Trump released his first BC from from the hospital, what did the media say? That’s right, it’s not official. It was useless. So, he went to City Hall and got the official version. When have they ever demanded the same from the POTUS? Never. He is being allowed to operate by a special set of rules that even Donald Trump, a private citizen isn’t allowed to operate under.

If demanding complete transparency from those in power makes me a nut, extremist, idiot, liar…whatever. So be it. I have this crazy notion that all people should operate under the same set of rules. There shouldn’t be the Palin rules, the Joe the Plumber rules and then the Obama rules.

TheBigOldDog on April 12, 2011 at 10:18 AM

TheBigOldDog . . .Obama and the left equate ‘transparency’ with ‘invisibility’.

Regardless of the birth certificate issue, I saw a comment on this that gave me an “Oh yeah, what about that?” moment — as the first African American President in US history, you’d think by now that we’d have been inundated with life story tell all books and interviews from his child-hood friends and family and everything about him — his first girlfriend; his college or highschool pals, people around him when he was young recalling stuff about him, etc. We should have seen literally scores of in-depth biography stories hosted by Barbara Walters and A&E done on him that interview highschool teachers, college professors and friends. Photos and videos of Obama as a kid in Indonesia and elsewhere, all sorts of “tell all” stuff we’ve seen with other Presidents and celebrities.

What are his college grades — really? Where are his thesis papers, other works and writings before he entered professional Leftist politics??

Where is it?? Why is he still the unexamined president? The most “definitive” work in him is the ghost-written autobiography “Dreams of my Father” (written admittedly by Bill Ayres)??

EasyEight on April 12, 2011 at 11:01 AM

What was his LSAT scores, his GPA in undergrad school, and samples of his (verifiable) writings from Harvard?

Apparently, you have never had to obtain a security clearance.

The “short form” is not acceptable to the government for the purpose of obtaining a security clearance.

IMHO:
All candidates for President should be required to go through the security clearance process before being eligible to run. To guard against unwarranted clearance denials by ‘government insider’ political shenanigans, documentation of any reasons for a denial of clearance should be made public IF there is a denial, and the candidate should still be allowed to run.

landlines on April 12, 2011 at 12:40 PM

This whole point would be moot if it weren’t for the fact that obama is trying to destroy the country. He said it himself. In speeches and his books. If idiot obama voters couldn’t understand “hours away from fundamentally transforming America…” means you have to destroy the old system, then you’re beyond help.
Castro ‘fundamentally transformed‘ Cuba in 1959.
How’d that work out?

Lanceman on April 12, 2011 at 1:43 PM

At this point it doesn’t really matter. The issue has been so spun up in the media and public mind-set that proving him illegitimate as a native just furthers the “crazy birtherism” reflection people have of this issue.

The danger is the precedent this sets for the future… and in fact, that precedent has already been set.

Proving it technically wrong now, won’t change the past two years.

What we really need to worry about more than his birthplace is his Marxist agendas. It is his Neo-Marxist agendas that need to be defeated.

Lawrence on April 12, 2011 at 2:49 PM

Sherman1864 on April 12, 2011 at 8:17 PM

Trump is not a quitter.

You Birther bashers better get that through your head.

None of your less than stellar descriptions above of Trump, truly depict who Trump really is.

Why has nobody mentioned the fact that even Huckabee who met with Trump, said that everybody who discounts the Donald, does so at their own peril?

You know what the problem is? You have been on this very narrow-minded “liberal-lite” butt kissing blog for so long you have come to believe the slippery snakes called Liberals, believing that they are less sinister than they were before you started commenting here.

The fact is the Democrats are sinister enough at the highest levels to absolutely run a smarmy half-black guy with no credentials who does not have his loyalties dedicated to our country because through his foreign born father, he learned loyalty to other countries and the religion of Islam which is displayed in his propensity to bow before Arab heads of State.

This fact, for anybody with even half their brain tied behind their back should make it oh so obvious that our Founding Fathers meant that ‘natural born’ means that both parents had to be citizens born and raised in this country.

You birther bashers have been putting forth all kind of conspiracy theories as to why Donald Trump is drumming up this issue.

Well, duh…!! Touche..!! The democrats/Soros gang purposefully ran a black half-baked progressive who’s loyalties are not to this country, a smooth talking black man so that we cannot criticise him..!!

What is so effing difficult about this??!!

You ‘birther bashers’ are some of the most obtuse and stiff-necked doofuses alive..!!

Ann Duncan, Obama’s natural mother could only transfer citizenship – if he was even born Stateside – but NOT ‘natural born’ status because she had sex without a condom or other forms of birth control, with a muslim foreigner.

Mcguyver on April 13, 2011 at 6:34 AM

…And thus the squirmy little male sperm tadpoles of a foreign born Muslim found an ovulating egg of an American woman which produced the great unknown current President of the USA..!!
