The Ed Morrissey Show: Kevin McCullough, Joel Rosenberg, and finding Marizela

posted at 12:46 pm on April 4, 2011 by Ed Morrissey

Today, on the Ed Morrissey Show (3 pm ET), Kevin McCullough joins us again to discuss the intersection of faith and politics. Kevin and I will talk about the latest on Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and Gitmo, the upcoming E! True Hollywood Story on Sarah Palin, the failure of the New York Times on the GE story, and much more!

We’ll also talk about The Binge Thinker, Kevin and Stephen’s exploding success in independent talk radio, as well as Kevin’s books — the upcoming No He Can’t: How Barack Obama Is Dismantling Hope and Change, and The Kind of Man Every Man Should Be: Taking a Stand for True Masculinity.

In bonus minutes, we’ll also talk with my friend Joel Rosenberg, whose new book The Carry Book: Minnesota Edition discusses issues surrounding carry permits and the legal rights (and limits) of lethal force in self-defense.

The Ed Morrissey Show and its dynamic chatroom can be seen on the permanent TEMS page — be sure to join us, and don’t forget to keep up with the debate on my Facebook page, too!

We’ll also cover the the case of Marizela Perez, who has been missing in the Seattle area for a few weeks. Marizela’s case has a connection here at Hot Air, as she is the cousin of the Boss Emeritus, Michelle Malkin. Michelle is trying to spread the word through Facebook and Q13Fox/KCPQ in Seattle. We want to encourage prayers for Marizela’s family, and also try to reach anyone in the area who knows where Marizela might be and ask them to contact the police.

The search has its own website now, Find Marizela, for the latest in the efforts to bring Marizela home. There is also a fund for the family to keep the search efforts going. Be sure to check there and at Michelle’s site for further developments, and keep the family in your prayers.

Michelle has an update on the search, and new ways for us to help:

We have had a private investigator on the case the past week. Several leads have been followed. But Marizela is still missing. Our hearts ache for Emem and her parents, Edgar and Jasmin, who have not rested one moment in their efforts to find her. Marizela’s loved ones continue to spread the word and spread her spirit in her South Jersey hometown of Egg Harbor Township, NJ, in her home away from home in Seattle, WA, in her parents’ native homeland in the Philippines, and across our great country where so many friends and volunteers have kept Marizela’s case in the public eye.

Marizela’s friend Brianna Price went to school with her in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. Brianna teamed up with Elizabeth (Beth) Janansky and Lydia Chong to make and sell bracelets to support the search for Marizela. They are orange “for Marizela’s favorite color” and include the Tagalog phrase from her tattoo — “lahat ay magiging maayos.” (“All will be well” or “Everything’s going to be okay.”)

You can order bracelets for $5 each (all proceeds go to Marizela’s family for the search) from Brianna.

E-mail her at and put “MARIZELA” in the subject line.

There is much more at the link, so be sure to follow it and read more.

Um, Ed… you count Joel Rosenberg as a friend?!

I’ve been a fan of his since… well, long enough ago that I don’t want to embarrass either of us by putting a number to it.

Every time I see that lovely girl’s picture here I feel heartsick for her and her family. May Marizela return home soon!
