The Ed Morrissey Show: Guy Benson, Jim Geraghty, and finding Marizela

posted at 12:59 pm on March 30, 2011 by Ed Morrissey

Today on The Ed Morrissey Show (3 pm ET), Guy Benson and Jim Geraghty return to discuss the week’s politics!  Don’t miss a minute as we dissect everything from Barack Obama’s war policies to the budget battles on Capitol Hill, and much much more!

The Ed Morrissey Show and its dynamic chatroom can be seen on the permanent TEMS page — be sure to join us, and don’t forget to keep up with the debate on my Facebook page, too!

We’ll also cover the the case of Marizela Perez, who has been missing in the Seattle area for a few weeks. Marizela’s case has a connection here at Hot Air, as she is the cousin of the Boss Emeritus, Michelle Malkin. Michelle is trying to spread the word through Facebook and Q13Fox/KCPQ in Seattle. We want to encourage prayers for Marizela’s family, and also try to reach anyone in the area who knows where Marizela might be and ask them to contact the police.

The search has its own website now, Find Marizela, for the latest in the efforts to bring Marizela home.  There is also a fund for the family to keep the search efforts going.  Be sure to check there and at Michelle’s site for further developments, and keep the family in your prayers.

Michelle has an update on the search, and new ways for us to help:

We have had a private investigator on the case the past week. Several leads have been followed. But Marizela is still missing. Our hearts ache for Emem and her parents, Edgar and Jasmin, who have not rested one moment in their efforts to find her. Marizela’s loved ones continue to spread the word and spread her spirit in her South Jersey hometown of Egg Harbor Township, NJ, in her home away from home in Seattle, WA, in her parents’ native homeland in the Philippines, and across our great country where so many friends and volunteers have kept Marizela’s case in the public eye.

Marizela’s friend Brianna Price went to school with her in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. Brianna teamed up with Elizabeth (Beth) Janansky and Lydia Chong to make and sell bracelets to support the search for Marizela. They are orange “for Marizela’s favorite color” and include the Tagalog phrase from her tattoo — “lahat ay magiging maayos.” (“All will be well” or “Everything’s going to be okay.”)

You can order bracelets for $5 each (all proceeds go to Marizela’s family for the search) from Brianna.

E-mail her at and put “MARIZELA” in the subject line.

There is much more at the link, so be sure to follow it and read more.

Maybe you can ask Jim Geraghty about his truly stupid and gratuitous piece on the faux scandal over tax breaks to Sarah Palin’s Alaska show as well as the declining credibility and relevance of NRO.

NRO’s core problem is that they have a big-government editorial board, even if they are not leftists. Therefore, they are unwilling to pick a conservative side in today’s battles, which are essentially about the size and role of government. They can’t commit.

Apart from that, the NRO site is just plain boring. They’re late to the party, or off on some tangent, most of the time.

I saw an electronic billboard today in Sacramento about finding Marizella. I said a prayer.

On Michelle’s web site:

“We spend so much time fighting the things that government should do, that we too often take for granted the things government should do.”

It is a shame that a huge personal tragedy is what it takes to get this woman thinking, but then it was 9/11 that persuaded her to change from Libertarian to Republican.
I hope they find the poor child alive and well.
