Quotes of the day

“I don’t know what motivates people who insist on doubt here,’ said Brooks Jackson, director of FactCheck.org, who went on to say that Obama’s U.S. citizenship had been proven “beyond any reasonable doubt.… But it’s natural human tendency to believe what you want to believe and ignore any evidence that would make you change your mind.

“‘Some people believe in UFO cults, and there’s a whole group who thinks George W. Bush was behind 9/11; you’re not going to convince them otherwise,’ Jackson continued. ‘Trump has obviously decided — and he’s certainly succeeded — that he’ll get more ink saying this than something else, because if there’s one thing Donald Trump loves, it’s attention.’”

If anything, Trump is taking the GOP debate attention away from the Liberal Media that want’s to choose our candidate.

While the clown party is trying to demean TEH Tea Party, April 15th is coming up and we plan to stand with our Tea Party People to demonstrate our First Amendment Rights.

We can use this to call for real cuts in spending and embarrass both the dems and repubs to stop mortgaging our future.

Kini on March 30, 2011 at 11:07 PM

I never knew there were birth announcements in the newspaper. And Mr Trump. hospitals sometimes offer it as a free service. In fact it was once quite common. Hospitals asking the parents to sign a waiver the hospital would report that days births to the newspaper, so patients do not have to be “rich” or “famous”. Hospitals sometimes used it as advertising.

In light of this, check out this “opinion feature” on the Obama birth certificate debate. Two columnists each answer four questions about the Obama certificate and the debate surrounding it. One, William Lolli, believes there is a legitimate debate on the issue and has his facts in order; the other, Dick Ellis, basically just rants about the stupid xenophobic rightwingers and presents no facts to back up his side of the debate. The commenters have noticed that the “birther” here won this mini-debate by presenting his case and not resorting to insults and profanity.

His mother was that devious? Nah. Nor do I think newspapers do that, the hospitals report directly to the paper. Like I said in the 80s it was common, different hospitals in the area reporting the births of the day. I don’t think it’s done much today, but haven’t picked up a newspaper in years.

My questions for factcheck:

In 1961 in Hawaii, were birth certificates using the term “African” under the race designation? Was “caucasian” or “white” used?

If it was citizenship, then the father would be listed as Kenyan, not african.

Yeah, I think a better idea is conceding how smart, amazing, All-American and *clean* Pres. Obama is. FWIW – where the President was born isn’t nearly so interesting to me is the fact that he’s so reluctant to show his BC. There’s either something on it he doesn’t like, or – more likely – he’s the kind of man that enjoys poisoning the political water.

I understand why so many conservative blogs avoid the birther stuff like the plague, I just wish so many wouldn’t bend over backward to carry the man’s water for him. I don’t see liberal blogs getting huffy at their own when Palin conspiracies get loose.

As a person who doesn’t care about the President’s nation of birth, I’ll say this – Trump has my ear now. At least someone has the sac to ask the pretty obvious question.

sharrukin on March 30, 2011 at 11:28 PM

LOL. Transporting a newborn into a state and planting a fake birth announcement in the newspapers? Right, it’s common every-day.

The newspapers birth announcements back then were always courtesy of the hospitals. Not every birth is announced as patients could opt out of it. But to imply someone would plant a fake announcement – yeah, pretty devious.

In fact the practice probably halted because it was always “Father, mother….” and a handful of “Mother…..” and no mention of anything else. Today, that would be about half of the announcements.

There must be something on that long form BC that is embarrassing…same thing with the college records.

d1carter on March 30, 2011 at 11:47 PM

When my son was born in Oregon in 1989, I had to request a form from the newspaper in which I listed all of the details regarding his birth and I do not believe that the newspaper charged for the announcement. The form asked for basic information, and when the announcement showed up in the paper a few days later, it was pretty much verbatum from what I had put on the form.

Now, with that being said, I do not know if the newspaper “verified” that the birth did indeed happen or not as I had documented it on the form.

May Trump succeed and Obama will live in interesting times.

Entertaining, I guess. What happens if there’s a revelation on Obama’s birth and it turns out he was born in Kenya but brought into the US on his mother’s passport when he was less than 6 months old?

Impeachment for fraud? A federal court ruling that he’s ineligible to occupy the office?

I’d bet against both. Those are the correct responses in theory, but I don’t think they meet the common sense test for the average person. Heck, Obama’s apologists could even argue that he didn’t know where he was born, since he wasn’t exactly sentient, or keeping a diary of his movements at the time. Fraud could be pretty hard to prove.

I’m not convinced the people would favor a crisis of government if hard evidence were offered that O was born in Kenya. In that sense, pursuing this has been a low payoff proposition since the election.

If a birth in Kenya could be incontrovertibly proven, however, it would presumably force a decision of some kind about Obama’s prospects for 2012.

The good news is that what America needs more than Obama’s long-form birth certificate is the good sense to not elect someone like him in the first place. Regaining that good sense is not in the hands of the MSM or the governor of Hawaii.

Obama is a deceiver, a dissembler
His mom trousers are alight
From what pole or banner
Shall they dangle in the night?

The birth certificate issue, imo is a loser for Trump.
He’s making a mistake for going after it, but he seems to really be wondering.
O reilly said “you don’t really believe this” but it really looks like trump does suspect something.

If there really IS something up with him, it’s probably not that he was born somewhere else, it’s probably that “muslim” is on it, or something.

I think its a waste of time tho for Trump to keep at it.
How could you PROVE that he was not born here if in fact he really wasn’t?
How would you even do that?
You would have to find a birth certificate in Kenya??
Someone willing to swear under oath that he was born there?
Seems extremely unlikely and a waste of time.

It is up to Obama to prove he is a Natural Born citizen, not up to anyone else to prove that he is not. And defending and preserving the United States Constitution would be a low payoff? What left wing subservient anti-American crap. The Founding Fathers would cast you out!

Heckle on March 31, 2011 at 12:44 AM

This is a win/win for Trump and us.

If Trump keeps it up, the birther spotlight will be on him and him alone.

If Obama releases his BC, and nothing is on it, it will be because of Trump, and no bad press will befall us.

There is something embarassing on the birth certificate. There are a couple of theories:

1) Mommy and Daddy never were married, making the
God-King a bastard.

2) After Mommy married that Sotero guy, by state law,
the original birth certificate was changed, so that
the Born One’s last name had to be ex-post facto changed
to Sotero. If he never changed it again, our President
is Barry Sotero.

Really Right on March 31, 2011 at 12:47 AM

In the distant past some people cowered in fear of being called uninformed conspiracy theory fools too tortured to be taken seriously and unfit for their positions, unworthy or in some other manner morally impaired if they could not see the Emperor’s fine new invisible clothes. In the recent past some people cowered in fear of being called uninformed conspiracy theory deniers too tortured to be taken seriously and unfit for their positions, unworthy or in some other manner morally impaired if they could not feel Al Gore’s invisible global warming. Some people now cower in fear of being called uninformed conspiracy theory birthers too tortured to be taken seriously and unfit for their positions, unworthy or in some other manner morally impaired if they can not see Barack Obama’s invisible Magical Birth Certificate.

History seldom repeats, but it very often closely rhymes and shows yet again that some people never learn, that the proclaimed invisible and actual non-existent are almost always the same and that there will always be many men and women among us who are more as Mice and Sheep than as Lions and Foxes. Sometimes it seems a shame that Noah didn’t miss the boat.

My ‘goodbye’ tour started on Saturday with my last day of volunteering at the cat rescue, then Sunday was my last day of Festival Choir/Cantoring. Tomorrow I’m going to Panera with a girlfriend-there are NO Paneras within 277 miles of Lubbock, and then I’m spending Saturday Downtown. I’m going to go Argo Tea(It’s like Starbucks except the drinks are made with tea), maybe go to Molly’s Cupcakes, and then hit Portillo’s or Potbelly.
Potbelly!
Whaaaaah!

Read the fable, “The Emperor’s New Clothes” sometime. Even the governor of Hawaii, using his powers of governor of that state, could not find a Hawaiian Birth Certificate for him. Why do you think that is? This Isn’t Rocket Science, nor Brain Surgery. If you are looking for the explanation for something, first look to the simplest explanation, not some damn convoluted one, as that one is most likely the correct one. The simplest explanation for why even the governor of Hawaii, using his powers of governor of that state, could not find a Hawaiian Birth Certificate for Barack Hussien Obama, is the very same reason that, had he been looking for a Hawaiian Birth Certificate for me instead, he could not have found one either. Wake up! Read the fable. The Emperor had no fine, or unfine, clothes, and his clothes weren’t invisible. He was naked. Good God, even the child in the fable could figure that out.

Actually-I’ll miss the weather too.
