Videos: Crowder, Reason on bullying

posted at 2:15 pm on March 25, 2011 by Ed Morrissey

I need a palate cleanser or two today, and I’m sure you do as well, since the depressing nature of the news has us all feeling, well, not bully. First we’ll turn to my friend Steven Crowder, who follows up on the story of an Australian adolescent who finally got fed up with being bullied and decided to defend himself. For this, as we have written more than once at Hot Air, the bullying victim got suspended for four days because the school didn’t want to send the message that violence solves problems. Of course, the school was well aware of the status of both the bully and the victim, and their non-violence hadn’t solved the problem, either — and arguably made it worse. Steven revisits a classic movie scene to walk us through the real lesson:

On to Reason TV, now, where they suggest that federal officials looking at a new effort to stamp out bullying take a closer look at … themselves. With Americans engaging in a new war, “the international Interwebs recording sensation Remy” offers a decidedly different take on old wartime newsreels with this song, “Why They Fought.” Was it to end up with a government that, if not bullies, then nannies and pushes its citizens and dictates their personal choices? Anyone doing their taxes this week will no doubt appreciate the shots taken at the IRS:

Blowback

Well done!

Can we give the police a little more latitude also?

Say it louder, Crowder!

Where do you get one of those full auto muzzle loaders? I’d fight and die for that!

The sequel to A Christmas Story is really looking good.

I’d pay real money to see some fat kid pick old Mo-Q up by his goulies and feed him the sidewalk.

CurtZHP on March 25, 2011 at 2:45 PM

‘A Christmas Story’ already has a sequel. It’s called alternately either ‘It Runs in the Family’ or ‘My Summer Story’.

Ever watch Sons of Guns on Discovery? Maybe those boys could build you one (they make and sell a suppressed shotgun and an integrally suppressed AK47, along with many other cool things).

Entertaining show, btw. I’d rate it as the show on TV most likely to make a progressive’s head explode.

it takes government social engineering to get away from the obvious solution to bullying.

Zero tolerance means when you’re dead you can fight back all you want, otherwise, its your fault.

I fought back against a bully once, as a lad, principal wanted to spank me since I got the better of the fight. Mom said only way she’d allow me to get spanked was if the principal spanked both of us. Lilly livered principal wouldn’t do it, so neither of us got spanked. End story… bullying didn’t stop, but it tapered off after awhile as I continued to fight back. Principal couldn’t do anything about it so he just ignored it. I learned a valuable lesson about not being afraid to fight back, and eventually the bullies turned their attentions to other victims.

I also vowed never to turn into a pansy like that principal. Yeah, he showed me a good example, a good example of what not to grow up into.

Bullies and the evil don’t learn by having their retribution put off 7 years waiting on a court date. They come to take your land, you should be able to shoot them right then and not give them the advantage of 57 lawyers. The poor don’t have the financial resources to defend their property, but they can afford the cost of a bullet for the robbers, several can band together to fight off a horde of them. The courts have made things, namely property theft much too easy. If you want my land, you should be willing to die to take it as I am willing to die to keep it, same with my Constitution and my Republic!
WOLVERINES!

Good point on the bullying victim finding a sense of self because of this incident.
That is the problem with this namby-pamby pc garbage, as inplemented by social engineers. They don’t want anyone to be an individual with real self-esteem. They want everyone to depend on the system to tell them how they should think, act and everything else.
Their message: Let the nanny handle it, you will be ok.
Fix the problem yourself, thereby gaining knowledge about yourself and real self-esteem, and you will be punished by the nanny.

Daffy: Bully we can take out

Saddam: Bully you don’t touch.

Got it.

I watched my dad spar with my brothers in the basement as he taught them to defend themselves. His rule? “If you’re the first to swing, I won’t support you.”

Only one of them had to defend himself in a fight…and dad supported him all the way…and so did the school.

Crowder,
You crack me up. Good stuff.
