Video: Obama on talking the talk

Gosh, Barack Obama likes to talk about deficits, doesn’t he? The NRCC put together a short video of Obama’s Greatest Deficit Hits, along with helpful overlays of the buzzwords he likes to use to remind us just how urgent action has become. We can no longer live off of “credit cards,” Obama advises us … as he sends budgets that borrow 40 cents on the dollar. We have to “bring down” deficits now and we “cannot continue … to kick the can down the road,” although cutting $61 billion from a budget with a $1600 billion hole in it is apparently too radical for the this deficit-hawk-in-theory. It seems that one of the “festering problems” to which Obama refers is himself:

The NRCC isn’t the only group tired of talk from the White House. Members of both parties at the other end of Pennsylvania Avenue have had enough as well:

President Barack Obama’s laissez-faire approach to the ongoing spending debate is winning him few friends on Capitol Hill.

Republican and Democratic Members alike are becoming increasingly critical of the president and are demanding the White House immediately step up its role in the standoff over funding the government. And Democrats fear that if Obama doesn’t engage more directly — and soon — they will lose the war of words to the Republicans on the critical issue of federal spending.

Members have used Obama’s upcoming five-day trip to Latin America, which begins Friday, to argue that the administration seems to have other priorities.

As the saying goes, when the going gets tough, the tough get going … to Brazil. On the subject of talk, though, let’s leave the real question to Adam Baldwin as Animal Mother in Full Metal Jacket (official content warning for language):

Gun Walking WTF is going on at the BATFE? by John Hayward

Appearing on the Roger Hedgecock radio show Wednesday night, House Oversight chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA) announced that he has opened an investigation into Project Gun Walker, which is developing into one of the most bizarre and dangerous scandals of the Obama Administration.

Project Gun Walker, also known by the case name “Fast and Furious” and “Operation Gunrunner,” was a plan in which the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives would deliberately allow guns into the hands of Mexican drug cartels, in order to “see where all the guns ended up, build a big case, and take down a cartel,” as whistleblower agent John Dodson explained to CBS News.

Writing at the St. Louis Examiner, gun rights advocate and blogger Kurt Hofmann questions “the BATFE / Department of Justice spin that this was a perhaps ill-considered, but still honorably intended, effort to bring down at least one major Mexican drug syndicate,” and suggests a more straightforward purpose for the seemingly incomprehensible Gun Walker operation was to “pad the statistics about Mexican ‘crime guns’ coming from the U.S. civilian market.” This would “strengthen the BATFE’s argument for more funding and power… and gun control advocates’ calls for more restrictive gun laws.”

His Oneness obviously doesn’t want any reductions in spending, so any arguments about that are, to me, superfluous.

I maintain that the Socialists want to see an economic meltdown so they have to take over. Socialism is simply what you have left over when Capitalism goes “bye-bye”.

There’s simply too much debt-among nations, among businesses and banks, and among ourselves. More money is owed worldwide than is in existence, and to print enough will only lead to Weimar inflation.

Debt and credit is good-up to a point. Without credit we would not have many of the things we have now. It just got out of control (and not a little due to our government and other governments) at some point. Also, waaaay too much spending on “social programs” (hand outs for those who don’t produce or at least provide services citizens need), tons of government bureaucratic waste, waste in the military, embezzlement and mismanagement in private companies, embezzlement and mismanagement in state, local and federal agencies, us subsidizing other nations’ military defense so they could live a more affluent lifestyle and keep their politicians in power…

The New Socialist uses those institutions already in place to achieve power over those same institutions. The AK-47 has been replaced by $, voter fraud, embezzlement of national treasuries, the takeover of major companies and banks, the courts, the laws of the land including misinterpretations of the Constitution itself.

They know what they’re doing though on the surface it doesn’t appear that way.

Just about 5 years ago, to the day. Read this! This guy is GREAT! Just what we need! Talk about “talking the talk”. He should run for President!

The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies.

Over the past 5 years, our federal debt has increased by $3.5 trillion to $8.6 trillion.That is “trillion” with a “T.” That is money that we have borrowed from the Social Security trust fund, borrowed from China and Japan, borrowed from American taxpayers. And over the next 5 years, between now and 2011, the President’s budget will increase the debt by almost another $3.5 trillion.

Numbers that large are sometimes hard to understand. Some people may wonder why they matter. Here is why: This year, the Federal Government will spend $220 billion on interest. That is more money to pay interest on our national debt than we’ll spend on Medicaid and the State Children’s Health Insurance Program. That is more money to pay interest on our debt this year than we will spend on education, homeland security, transportation, and veterans benefits combined. It is more money in one year than we are likely to spend to rebuild the devastated gulf coast in a way that honors the best of America.

And the cost of our debt is one of the fastest growing expenses in the Federal budget. This rising debt is a hidden domestic enemy, robbing our cities and States of critical investments in infrastructure like bridges, ports, and levees; robbing our families and our children of critical investments in education and health care reform; robbing our seniors of the retirement and health security they have counted on.

Every dollar we pay in interest is a dollar that is not going to investment in America’s priorities.

It looks like it is going to take getting a Republican in the White House before any real progress is going to be made in holding Obama accountable for his corruption.

Usually you have to rely on the press to energize an issue with 24/7(plame is a good example of this) coverage to put heat on the Hill to expose an issue like the ATF one.We know the press has it’s lip’s pressed firmly to Obama’s a$$ so it’s going to take either a prominent whistle blower or some organized outrage by the GOP.
