Video: The disgusting terrorist attack in Itamar

posted at 1:36 pm on March 14, 2011 by Ed Morrissey

How do you get a celebration cooking in Gaza? According to Ynet News, slaughtering an Israeli family in Itamar brings out the joy in Palestinians — and not for the first time. Gazans flocked to the streets and handed out candy to celebrate the brutal stabbing deaths of a five members of a family, including a three-month-old infant:

Gaza residents from the southern city of Rafah hit the streets Saturday to celebrate the terror attack in the West Bank settlement of Itamar where five family members were murdered in their sleep, including three children.

Residents handed out candy and sweets, one resident saying the joy “is a natural response to the harm settlers inflict on the Palestinian residents in the West Bank.”

According to one report, the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade — an arm of Fatah, of which Palestinian Authority president Mahmoud Abbas is a member — claimed responsibility for the butchery:

According to an unverified report, Fatah’s military wing – the al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades – claimed responsibility for the attack. A group spokesman told a Palestinian news agency that a terror cell infiltrated the settlement of Itamar and committed the attack.

The spokesperson stressed that the attack “came as a response to Israel’s continues hostile policy toward the Palestinian people.”

Philip Klein notes that Palestinian media has a much different take on the, er, incident:

“I don’t believe that the incident in Itamar is an act of resistance, but rather an act by individuals whom we condemn, in the event it was carried out by Palestinians. Stabbing children in their sleep is not a heroic act but rather that of the heartless, like some of the occupation soldiers and settlers, who murder children,” Hafez Barghouti, editor-in-chief of Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, wrote on Sunday.

He added that the “real murderers in Itamar are the zealous settlers and anyone who burned a tree, vandalized the cemetery in Awarta, forced out the residents of Khirbet Yanun, took control of a plot of land or robbed an olive harvest …. The act at Itamar was a message to the occupation and to the world … whose meaning is clear – the occupation must go.”

Ah, yes, the real murderers are those who supposedly rob an olive harvest, not the ones who actually murder people. How … Orwellian.

Meanwhile, Jeff Dunetz finds that Western media aren’t much better at reporting the terrorist attack and brutal murder:

CNN refused to label the murder as an act of terrorism by the Palestinians, desipte the fact that the IDF had already called it an act of Palestinian Terror. …  The CNN report stated:

“Five members of an Israeli family were killed in the West Bank early Saturday morning in what the Israeli military is calling a ‘terror attack.’”
The report went on to say: “According to a military spokeswoman, an intruder entered the Israeli settlement of Itamar near the northern West Bank city of Nablus around 1 am, made his way into a family home and killed two parents and their three children.”

The IDF’s official statement had already noted that forces were searching for a “terrorist” and not an “intruder” as CNN reported. But that didn’t matter to CNN who wanted to give their cleansed version of what happened. The terrorist was also referred to as an “assailant” later in the CNN report.

The Paper of Record?  Much the same:

Never one to show Jews as victims (they even buried accounts of the Holocaust until after the war) , the NY Times did its best to join in on the dehumanization of the Fogel’s with a headline declaring:

Suspecting Palestinians, Israeli Military Hunts for Killers of 5 West Bank SettlersNotice “Suspecting Palestinians” and “Five Settlers.” By the time they wrote the article the NY Times knew there were Palestinians involved, the evidence included muddy footprints that lead directly to the nearest Palestinian village and a statement by the Al Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades saying “hey we did it.”

Both Philip and Jeff include this video (via Big Peace), set aptly to music from  Schindler’s List, that gives graphic accounts of the slaughter of the Fogels, including the infant Hadas.  When I say “graphic,” I mean it, so don’t play this if you’re at all squeamish.  It will likely enrage you — or at least it will make you question what kind of people would celebrate this by eating candy in the streets.  Answer: The same kind of people who celebrated the massacre of 3,000 people in the US on 9/11, and the very same people that the US insists should have their own independent state.  See if this video convinces you of that wisdom.

Cindy Munford. As much as it pains me to ever disagree with you, Dave Rywall is a piker and a light-weight. He doesn’t have a single skill except to come here, express his “opinion”, refuse to provide proof of even the least of his inane assertions and then slink off to do the computer desk equivalent of sticking your head in the sand. (See above description of Dave chanting lalalalala with his fingers in his ears).

You are the most polite of souls and Dave has certainly not merited your kind defense and supposition that he in some manner guides the direction of our brothers and sisters to The Great White North. I was more hoping that Canopfor was given those duties.

charm (chärm)

n.
1. The power or quality of pleasing or delighting; attractiveness: a breezy tropical setting of great charm.

Nope.

2. A particular quality that attracts; a delightful characteristic: A mischievous grin was among the child’s many charms.

Er, nope.

3. A small ornament, such as one worn on a bracelet.

Small ornament. Hmm, Dave Rywall, “small” ornament. Now, this might be possible.

4. An item worn for its supposed magical benefit, as in warding off evil; an amulet.

We need an amulet for Dave.

5. An action or formula thought to have magical power.

Erm, Nope.

6. The chanting of a magic word or verse; incantation.

Like, lalalalalalala

7. Physics A quantum property of the charm quark whose conservation explains the absence of certain strange-particle decay modes and that accounts for the longevity of the J particle.

Nothing about Dave is Conservative.

Okay, after very serious consideration, I agree. Dave must have a very small ornament.

It’s news in Israel. There is a pretty large police and army deployment going on around the settlement where the massacre took place and it is to prevent reprisals as well as try to find the perpetrators. There are a number of Israeli groups who track fighting and crime between settlers and the local population. Look it up yourself.

Even Netanyahu was going on about the problem recently:

Netanyahu condemns settler violence

09 Mar 2011 18:29

Source: reuters // Reuters

JERUSALEM, March 9 (Reuters) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu criticised Jewish settlers who assault Palestinians or Israeli security personnel in the occupied West Bank, calling them a “marginal minority”.

Alluding to violent protests and attacks perpetrated since the attempted removal of an unauthorised settlement last week, Netanyahu told a parliamentary panel: “Israel shall not tolerate or accept any attacks on Arab residents as a means of protest against the government.”

Netanyahu said he was referring to “a small and marginal minority, a small extremist group of among our brothers, the settlers.

some of whom also have assaulted Israeli security officers to resist removal from illegal encampments.

Jewish settlers shot and wounded 10 Palestinians while a settler was also hurt in a confrontation that erupted on Monday in the Nablus area of the West Bank, land Israel captured in a 1967 war and which Palestinians seek for a future state.

Settlers have assaulted Israeli security officers to resist removal from illegal encampments.

Israeli officials have said Netanyahu was preparing to introduce a new plan aimed at reviving peace talks with the Palestinians, which broke down last year over the issue of settlements.

About 500,000 settlers live among 2.5 million Palestinians in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

The exchanges between these people pretty regular and well documented.

What Hamas is saying in English…

Al-Rashak confirmed that harming children is not part of Hamas’ policy, nor is it the policy of the resistance factions.

He also confirmed that the possibility that the incident was carried out by settlers for criminal motives should not be ruled out.

And what they are saying in Arabic…

Five Zionist usurpers were killed the morning of Saturday, 12 March 2011, in a knife-stabbing carried out by a Palestinian in the usurper (settlement) of Itamar east of the city of Nablus.

Our correspondent in Nablus reported that a Palestinian mujahid was able to break into the usurper (settlement) of “Itamar” south of Nablus in the occupied (West) Bank, and stabbed five Zionist usurpers.

Rod on March 15, 2011 at 8:42 AM

Regarding those who got banned, if any of them were acting out of character I would feel bad for them. As it was, they all got tossed for the kind of behavior that was their normal mode of discourse. Good riddance.

MJBrutus on March 15, 2011 at 8:49 AM

The leftard meme on this one is that somebody else did it because Palestinians would never murder a child. Yeah, you read it right. Besides their long history of deliberately murdering children, the IDF was able to determine two men were involved (I assume by bloody footprints) and track them to this village which wouldn’t be hard to do with the scent of blood which they had to be covered in.

Blake on March 15, 2011 at 9:02 AM

A couple of those people on the list were not known bomb throwers and got caught up in the heat of the moment.

Blake on March 15, 2011 at 9:04 AM

I followed a lot of those threads and he had to put up with as much as he put out. A lot of the Atheist commenters are no better and some even worse.

hawkdriver on March 15, 2011 at 8:32 AM

I generally don’t find those threads out of line, even if they do get kind of childish sometimes.

They were really exchanging challenges to duels over this thread?

Count to 10 on March 15, 2011 at 9:05 AM

When it comes to Jewish/Israeli threads, I usually need to step back and not participate, since there are or in this case ‘were’ people defending the Death Cult. That being said, it amazes me but more importantly, frightens me that people hold this much contempt and hatred for Jews in general. How can you defend or justify the decapitation of a 3-month old baby! We are human beings too and we want peace and a quite life unlike the Death Cult. This madness needs to stop! The Jewish People of Israel and the Diaspora are willing to give up so much for a peace and yet the world does not give a f***.

Lance Murdock on March 15, 2011 at 9:06 AM

Apart from KinsleyArdal, I think the various bans were a long time coming.

This, again…is why I will never, ever cast a vote for Ron Paul or anyone who paints the Israelis the same as these psychopaths.

MadisonConservative on March 15, 2011 at 9:22 AM

After reviewing the thread, I have to say my opinion is that both sides were out of line, and that’s not even including the comments removed by banhammer.

Count to 10 on March 15, 2011 at 9:23 AM

A lot of you busting on rfl are better in the manner in which you debate. Brutus, you in particular were in debates with rfl that you very much deserved to be banned for. Get off your freaking Jou horse.

The amount of “debates” where right4life fell to merely calling his opponent fat or ugly, or playing the race card, were too numerous to count. Are you sure you’re referring to the poster you think you are?

MadisonConservative on March 15, 2011 at 9:34 AM

Pity the trolls not.

Therefore shall evil come on you; you shall not know from where it rises: and mischief shall fall on you; you shall not be able to put it off: and desolation shall come on you suddenly, which you shall not know.

He wasn’t interested in debate, he just wanted to flame whoever disagreed with him. I have no use for such commentary.

backwoods conservative on March 15, 2011 at 7:45 AM

The problem is that people engage that behavior in debate. Best to ignore the troll bait comments. Unfortunately, most blogs would collapse if that were to happen. Face it, people like to be rude and have complete anonymity.

I wonder about that. There was, maybe still is, a poster with a similar name (right2bright or something) who debated on a higher level. In any case I think hawkdriver must have misssed something. R4L spewed hatred without being fired upon first. Attempts to engage in reasoned debate were reponded to with flame war.

The PA 2 main leaders who are at least somehow accountable to the West are Mahmoud Abbas (PA president) and Salam Fayad (prime minister).

They are the familiar faces to the west. Fayad is westernized and is a leftist in terms of the Arab and “palestinian” way of thinking, while Abbas has to deal with the West since they are his sponsors.

These 2 familiar faces are reluctantly condemning this in English, and even a little bit in Arabic.

But they don’t represent the true Arab or “palestinian” street. They’re just diplomats who have to minimize the diplomatic damage. They are irrelevant in terms of what this butchery signifies.

The “palestinians” as a whole, more or less, with some exceptions, are capable of such cold blooded barbarism.
You westerners cannot understand this. You cannot understand this bloodlust. No tough neighbourhood in no innercity district in the States even comes close to the level of hatred that “palestinians” feel towards Israelis.
What ever comes out of Hollywood to try to illustrate real hatred, it doesn’t really come close to showcasing and explaining it to the western public.

Sure there are people to talk to in the “palestinian” leadership, but that’s all they’re good for, really. Their added value to the “palestinian” so-called “people” (a bunch of fn Arab invaders/squaters/babymachines with no connection to Palestine / Israel) is their positive “peaceful” face they can present to CNN which serves to propagate and advance the “palestinian” narrative.

They are really powerless and all the western efforts and wasted billions to reshape “palestinian” society are going to fail.

I’m disgusted and not surprised one half bit that this family of 5 met their end in such a way.

Rod on March 15, 2011 at 10:58 AM

It’s not a matter of permanently open registration. There have been cases of trolls taking advantage of open registration to register under other aliases. When they get banned, they switch to an alter ego and resume spewing their drivel. Bannishment by IP address instead of moniker eliminates some of that, but if the troll has other IP addresses available they can register their alter egos on those.

So if I understand lexhamfox correctly…. I’m supposed to believe that the IDF sneaks into palestinian houses and kills palestinian babies by knife point… because they just roll that way? And the Jewish Media (oh, we can’t forget how the whole MSM is run by the JOOOOS) ignores the atrocities perpetuated on the innocent, peace loving Palestinians, right? Those same Palestinians who randomly lob rockets over the border, and who dance in the street when babies are killed. Come to think of it, they sound like Liberals at an abortion clinic!

But that’s what lexhamfox believes. Probably Helen Thomas too. Am I right?

Vanceone on March 14, 2011 at 8:05 PM

No, you won’t read about random acts of violence against Palestinians on HotAir. As I mentioned earlier there are pretty good records on violence there and both sides are killing kids. You want something more specific… go look up info on ‘Captain R.’ and his trial. 1,300 Palestinian kids have been killed over the last ten years. I’m sure there is a compelling story behind each one.

Vanceone, you and few other people here are particularly stupid. I pointed out that this violence IS news in Israel. I don’t ignore Palestinian violence and having worked on kibbutz myself in northern Israel many years ago I know better than you know about the toll it takes even when nobody is hurt by those attacks. If I wasn’t interested in the awful crime perpetrated against a family I would not have read the story and looked at the video. It’s horrifying. But saying that both sides are killing kids isn’t the same as hating Jews, supporting terrorism, or being a lefty.

lexhamfox on March 15, 2011 at 1:37 PM

hawkdriver on March 15, 2011 at 9:31 AM

It isn’t cleaning of anyone’s clock when after all of their ‘evidence’ is refuted, that the troll starts screaming & taunting ‘liar liar pants on fire’.
That is not winning a debate.
Sorry.
