Matthews: What’s up with Newt Gingrich using these Christian hand gestures?

posted at 9:11 pm on March 8, 2011 by Allahpundit

Via Mediaite, wait until you see what the allegedly Christian hand gesture is. Newt panders to social cons a dozen times a day, sometimes completely obviously and other times almost completely obviously, and yet … this is what Tingles latches onto. Or is he right and I’m wrong? Was Jesus alleged to have absent-mindedly pointed at the audience occasionally during the Sermon on the Mount? I remember most of the gestures from my Catholic upbringing, but I admit, pointing seems to have slipped my mind.

We’ve got almost 20 more months of this to come. Twenty. More. Months.

Wow, you were raised Catholic Allah? No wonder you are an atheist.

Obama points all the time. How lame can a criticism be?

There are lots of things to criticize (or praise) Newt about. You’d think Chrissy would want to stay away from the term.

So,that means…..O.M.G,

Thank God for the Premium cable package. Which I don’t pay for. And I don’t get. And includes MSNBC.

Its been about 6 months since I turned it off, and I know I’m a better person for it. Blood pressure down, no more wanting to kick the TV screen, scaring the family by yelling at Butch and Chrissy.

Try it. Its…..liberating.

BobMbx on March 8, 2011 at 9:20 PM

It’s no secret that Newt has experienced a profound conversion to Catholicism. Why is that, of all things, so very worthy of this ridicule?

cynccook on March 8, 2011 at 9:21 PM

Why doesn’t Chris “Balloon Head” Mathews change the name of his show to “Happy Hour”?

What? Does Gingrich make the ‘OK’ gesture and bring it up to his right eye? Because that is a Christian hand gesture… pointing is pointing, but that symbol is identification.

Be seeing you!

I really see Chrissy “taking some time off to spend with his family” soon. Keith was scary-crazy. Chrissy is just getting more and more sad-crazy. Doesn’t he have anyone in his life who can say, “Did you take your meds today, buddy?”

I mean, in the pre-show meetings, when Chrissy says, “I’m gonna go hard at Newt’s secret Christian hand signs” doesn’t anyone have the courage to step up, make a call to management, sound the alarm that Charlie Sheen is in the house?

From the lead-in, didn’t you expect to see Newt genuflecting and/or making the sign of the cross of something? What a to-do over nothing. Weak, very weak.

cynccook on March 8, 2011 at 9:27 PM

Chris sure seems obsessed w ith Newt lately. If I were a Newtbot, I’d say it was becuse Chris is terrified of Newt and therefore has to pick on him incessantly.

Aslans Girl on March 8, 2011 at 9:28 PM

Jesus had palm fronds laid at his feet. Newt’s wife uses Palmolive soap in the dishwasher. Newt washes the palms of his hands using soap. Jesus washed people’s feet.

Spooky when you really think about it.

Bishop on March 8, 2011 at 9:28 PM

cynccook on March 8, 2011 at 9:21 PM

I joined the Church on April 3rd of last year-and like Newt-I’m also not on my first spouse.
UNLIKE Newt I’ve only been divorced once and I wasn’t cheating on my now ex-husband.
I have a problem with serial philanderers-and I would hope that the Church does as well.
I am as far away as you can be from ‘being without sin’-but Newt’s proven himself to be a brilliant alley cat.

annoyinglittletwerp on March 8, 2011 at 9:34 PM

Matthews really has become a clown. He used to be a serious journalist. No, -really. In the mid-nineties or so, he was on an upward trajectory, could have become the next big network anchor, and could have been a good one. He seems to want to self-destruct. Maybe it’s the Impostor Syndrome.

slickwillie2001 on March 8, 2011 at 9:35 PM

So this is how the media work:

Newt’s Christianity? Mockable
Obama’s Christianity? Unquestionable

jasetaro on March 8, 2011 at 9:55 PM

Google image-search “Barack Obama” and you’ll see him pointing all over the place. Clearly, pointing is a muslim gesture, or at the very least, an Indonesian one.

JavelinaBomb on March 8, 2011 at 9:58 PM

What’s next for Pissy? Thinking that the woman on the side of the stage is throwing down “gang signs” when all she is doing is sign language so the deaf people in the audience can follow along? Sheesh…it never ends with this tool!

Dark-Star on March 8, 2011 at 10:02 PM

Hopefully Matthews will be fired before the twenty months are up.

Newt needs a dog whistle like Palin. They work better than hand gestures.

Schadenfreude on March 8, 2011 at 10:08 PM

Obama could walk through a crowd sprinkling holy water on the people, and Chrissy wouldn’t see any gimmickry, or even anything odd about it.

RBMN on March 8, 2011 at 10:08 PM

Seriously, what would be more advantages to the Republican Party than to have liberal hacks like Matthews attack Christianity for the next year and a half? While some can may not admit the facts, this party will not defeat Obama without a strong showing at the polls by Christians who still love this country.

Now if we can just get Michelle Bachmann to point to the sky when she accuses the Democrats of embezzling money, we can be sure Matthews will go “certifiable”.

Chris Matthews is proof that the mentally deranged can somehow manage to get and maintain employment in “media”.

He just might be all aflutter with Gingrich’s “hand signals” because he’s possessed, however — and thus, his mental derangement is explained.

I do have to admit that Mr. Newt is coming across as an opportunist. A lecture on morality from him holds as much water as one from Slick Willy.

Maybe you should read it, take the walking tour and learn something instead of behaving like a two year old who thinks poopy jokes are the ultimate in witty repartee.

Buy Danish on March 9, 2011 at 7:56 AM

Matthews shows his own insanity with this ‘analysis’. I guess we should just laugh at how out of touch with reality Matthews and his guests are.

JimP on March 9, 2011 at 7:59 AM

Did you ever think that being Christian was going to be a bad thing in America? Well to the left it’s the worst thing you can be. Mathews is the one who is reaching here, reaching for any little thing and this is what he comes up with. Newt’s Christian hand gestures? Gad, this from the guy who so worships Obama that he gets orgasms in his legs when Obama makes a speech!

Bert Convy on March 9, 2011 at 9:14 AM

So, besides body language, there’s also hand gestures we should watch for? Like the middle finger salute the Won gives to debate opponents and the bible thumping, gun toting middle class?

Kissmygrits on March 9, 2011 at 9:39 AM

It’s becoming obvious that Tingles suffers from some sort of mental illness leading him to a level of insanity and delusions. Next thing you know he’ll claim he knows that Jesus made those gestures because he was there witnessing it. :-)
