Obamateurism of the Day

posted at 8:05 am on February 22, 2011 by Ed Morrissey

After numerous undercover videos by Live Action over the last three years showed repeated violations by Planned Parenthood of laws requiring notification to law enforcement for sexual exploitation of minors, the nation’s chief executive has finally weighed in on the pattern of lawbreaking. Despite criminal investigations in at least two states and numerous staff terminations, Barack Obama considers the entire issue “manufactured“:

“I think sometimes these issues get manufactured,” he said “they get a lot of attention in the blogosphere…

“You know my bottom line is I think that Planned Parenthood in the past has done good work. If there was a specific problem at this center, it should be addressed, but we shouldn’t get so distracted with some of these issues.”

Manufactured? Here’s a partial list of the posts we’ve had here at Hot Air:

Lots of people and organizations did “good work” at one time or another while still breaking the law.  I’m unaware of a “good work” exception to law enforcement, especially when it comes to protecting children from sexual exploitation.  Planned Parenthood clinics have an entire series of videos showing their clinics conspiring to keep such exploitation hidden from police.  Shouldn’t the chief executive of the nation at least express some concern over that, or would Obama need to “manufacture” that concern?

Got an Obamateurism of the Day? If you see a foul-up by Barack Obama, e-mail it to me at obamaisms@edmorrissey.com with the quote and the link to the Obamateurism. I’ll post the best Obamateurisms on a daily basis, depending on how many I receive. Include a link to your blog, and I’ll give some link love as well. And unlike Slate, I promise to end the feature when Barack Obama leaves office.

not with this group, these are his people…now if this was an abstinence only group, he would be singing a different tune…

You know my bottom line is I think that Planned Parenthood in the past has done good work. If there was a specific problem at this center, it should be addressed, but we shouldn’t get so distracted with some of these issues.

such are the tactics of a liar. Isolate the problem, freeze it, fix it and depersonalize it. It is merely a pimple on an otherwise beautiful face. Attempt to portray the ‘good work’ of a heinous organization.

Sorry, bub. Those days are over. PP is your ugly, hatchet wielding enterprise. Give her a hug, you own her, you dance with her, and you’ll fall with her. Enjoy the music while it plays.

And the Tea Party rallies were “astroturf,” but when the teachers or SEIU show up with hundreds of preprinted signs and matching tee shirts, well, that’s just “spontaneous.”

Anything he doesn’t want to talk about is a “distraction,” from what he does want the MSM to focus on (which is usually the One and his wonderfulness).

If nothing else this let’s all of us see the real “character” of Obama.

It ain’t pretty.

coldwarrior on February 22, 2011 at 8:18 AM

The media will parrot his “manufactured” line, or better for him, they will simply ignore the story completely. I’m not sure this is amateurish so much as an outright lie that will be effective for him politically. Business as usual.

Heroin addiction has certain good aspects, too. It allows those who have little self-worth feel good about themselves for the price of a nickle bag.

How is it that Odamna still has nearly 50% approval in this country? Are that many of us just stupid?

O thinks PP has done “good work?” They murder babies and he thinks that’s good.

Beaglemom on February 22, 2011 at 8:25 AM

The fact that PP “manufactured” tons of donations to the Obama campaign is simply coincidental.

KS Rex on February 22, 2011 at 8:27 AM

publiuspen on February 22, 2011 at 8:33 AM

Dear Oprah,

I just cannot ‘respect’ Mr.Obama who chooses to ignore the sexual exploitation of minors in such an off-handed way.

I get that they are too young to vote for him, but playing to his party’s base, over the lives of innocent little children, could put more kids in harm’s way.

I strongly urge that you, the Democratic Party, NAACP, denounce his statements today. For.The.Children.

mjbrooks3 on February 22, 2011 at 8:40 AM

‘PP has in the past done good work’. Like the work the good doctor, Gosnell, in Philly has done, Mr. President? PP provides a service to poor people. It’s easier to dismiss murder when you call it a service, isn’t it, Mr. President? This guy is cold.

jwolf on February 22, 2011 at 8:54 AM

Can’t really blame Barry for feeling this way. It’s a core tenet of his secular faith in liberalism that abortion providers do holy work. And dear Barry is nothing if not a true believer.

AZCoyote on February 22, 2011 at 9:01 AM

Why does the Left ignore exploitation on so many levels? I realize that since this was a staged situation we could assume that Planned Parenthood never actually sees instances of abuse but they sure didn’t bat an eye when presented with it. And then there is illegal immigration, on the hope that someday they might get to vote and will vote for Democrats, they ignore another whole group of people that are exploited. Why is that acceptable?

Badger40 on February 22, 2011 at 9:06 AM

When you control the enforcement of the law, the actual law is irrelevant. The thing that matters is what he his majesty Lord Barrack I, Emperor of all he sees, has decreed. His Edicts are the law of the land. And what he sees is an organization doing good deeds and saving the world from a rash of conservative babies.

And millions of murdered babies can attest to that.

GrannyDee on February 22, 2011 at 10:22 AM

“I think sometimes these issues get manufactured,” he said “they get a lot of attention in the blogosphere…

Even if some of the incriminating videos in the “blogosphere” were posted by whistleblowers pretending to be pimps and prostitutes, one would think that Planned Parenthood would “wise up” and tell their people to not give cover to anyone who SEEMS to be a pimp or prostitute or guilty of statutory rape.

But even after several “sting” videos are out on the blogosphere, PP continues to defend fake pimps, prostitutes, and rapists, which leads whistleblowers to wonder how many REAL pimps, prostitutes, and rapists they are protecting, who obviously won’t say anything.

It’s all about killing babies for money. Blood money. And “our” President defends them.

By the way, the Susan G. Komen Cancer Fund donates some of its proceeds to Planned Parenthood. They claim its for breast exams and screenings. Now I am willing to support a fight against breast cancer but not if even one penny of my money goes to Planned Parenthood.

Komen spokesman John Hammarley told TheDC that the issue is overblown, as funding to Planned Parenthood is limited and strictly overseen…

From 2004-2009 Komen affiliates contributed about $3.3 million to programs sponsored by Planned Parenthood and in FY 2009, $731,303. “That $731,303 is less than one percent of the entire amount of community grant funding that affiliates around the country contribute,” Hammarley said.*
