Wisconsin governor to fugitive Dems: Do your job, chumps; Video: Tea partier confronts runaway Dem

posted at 7:54 pm on February 17, 2011 by Allahpundit

He goes after them right at the beginning, then circles back around at about 5:00. Frankly, I wish he’d have been harder on them. There would have been some risk in that, as an angry response would signal to some that the runaway tactic has him worried, but I’ll bet there are enough voters out there who are aghast at the sight of Democrats literally running away from their budget problems that a little righteous indignation would have been welcome. As it is, he took the cool-calm-composed “leader in command” route. Always a safe play, although not one that’s channeling the base’s passion on this.

Two clips here, one of Walker and the other of another Republican who once had to hang tough with unions. Compare and contrast. Oh, by the way, have I mentioned that Obama’s online DNC operation is helping to coordinate the protests in Wisconsin? In case you were unclear on how high the stakes are here and what this means for other states eyeing “corrective measures” for their own budgets, that should bring it into focus. A quote from John Boehner: “I’m disappointed that instead of providing similar leadership from the White House, the president has chosen to attack leaders such as Gov. Walker, who are listening to the people and confronting problems that have been neglected for years at the expense of jobs and economic growth. I urge the president to order the DNC to suspend these tactics.”

Update: Via Big Government, an encounter in Rockford. The guy says he’s leaving to go do his job in Wisconsin. Does that mean they’re coming home?

It’s getting ready to hit the fan up in North Carolina, too. The GOP there doesn’t seem to be the same breed as years past (they just took control of the legislature) and don’t seem to be backing down, but NC has a democrat guvnah who is slightly less bright than Sheila Jackson-Lee, Debbie Wasserman, and Jennifer Granholm. She’s (Beverly Perdue) has threatened to veto…

I am incensed that the mob is calling this democracy! This is mob rule, trying to over turn an election. And failing to take a vote loss with grace.

This is mob rule. People voted for this. Protests are fine but they are doing much more than protest.

I certainly hope the Walker doesn’t cave in the face of these intimidation tactics.

Return Wisconsin to democracy. Let the will of the people be done.

This is US (U.S.) against THEM–the elite ruling class. Wisconsin had better not blink or cave. What happens here will help set the tone for the entire U.S.–US.

Aaaaaaaannnnnnnnddddd here we go:

Civility: Lawmakers in Wisconsin Now Being Threatened By Left-Aligned Thugs
Hopper has received threatening phone calls and e-mails. These are threats of a physical nature. “We are working with law enforcement in my district. They are watching my home and my business.” Other Republicans have had their homes and businesses threatened, too. The unionists have demonstrated outside those homes and businesses.
A menacing old phrase comes to mind (and has been used by others, in talking about events in Wisconsin): We know where you live.

upinak on February 17, 2011 at 8:13 PM

First New Jersey and now Wisconsin. Tomorrow California. Americans taking back their country—one state at a time.

Seriously, what did these people think happened last November 2nd across this nation? Did they think we’d ignore the unions paying off liberal Democrat politicians in this vicious cycle? The days of entitlement have come to an end—there’s no more money to feed the union/public pension programs with zero contributions from the individual employee. The days of the free ride of 100% guaranteed pensions are over. What the unions don’t understand is this is taxpayer revolt, and they are not going to win this battle—not even with their community organizer in their corner—his days are numbered too.

Bring on 2012!!!

Rovin on February 17, 2011 at 8:14 PM

I read that the union made calls to teachers and organized this, which may qualify it as an illegal job action. Fire every last one and hopefully termination for cause will prevent them from getting UI.

O/T seems like gov’s across the land are finding their stones finally. It also appears Palin’s chooice for her replacement was spot on:

Governor Palin’s hand-picked successor, Sean Parnell, is refusing to enact Obamacare in Alaska, after a federal judge ruled in Florida that Obamacare is unconstitutional. Sounds exactly like what Governor Palin would do if she was still in office.

The federal government cannot compel citizens to purchase a product. It’s that simple. Efforts Democrats have made to force Americans to purchase a product are unconstitutional. No governor should allow Obamacare to move forward in his or her state.

All 50 governors need to follow Parnell’s lead on this.

It’s just that simple.

If they think a little protest is a day of rage they have no idea what politcal winds are blowing in this land. protesting budget cuts will not get them a seat at the table it will turn the people away from them…..

This is very similar to Texas after the 2002 election, when the Republicans took control of the statehouse, and wanted a redistricting that more better represent the overall advantage in Republican registrations and the 2000 Census. The dems fled to Oklahoma in an attempt to prevent the redistricting process which would undo the decades worth of democratic gerrymandering

the problem of course is the dems think the american people are the same as other people around the world. they look at people like sheep, stupid etc. and think they can push and pull them by emotion into positions they want them to go.
