Obamateurism of the Day

Barack Obama dropped by a GE plant on Friday to announce the appointment of their CEO, Jeffrey Immelt, to a new advisory board on job creation, and to talk about some of his close friends in New York. The President named his “two great friends of mine” in the Senate, including Chuck Schumer, and, er … who?
Mark Finkelstein points out that Obama’s great friend Kirsten Gillibrand pronounces her name with a soft G, not a hard G:
PBO pronounces Gillibrand with a hard ‘g,’ whereas the correct pronunciation is with the soft g, as in JILL-i-brand.
Maybe someone should take the time to introduce Obama to his “great friend” one of these days.
Got an Obamateurism of the Day? If you see a foul-up by Barack Obama, e-mail it to me at firstname.lastname@example.org with the quote and the link to the Obamateurism. I’ll post the best Obamateurisms on a daily basis, depending on how many I receive. Include a link to your blog, and I’ll give some link love as well. And unlike Slate, I promise to end the feature when Barack Obama leaves office.
