Video: Democrats walking around with their own ObamaCare interview backdrops now

posted at 8:23 pm on January 19, 2011 by Allahpundit

From today’s Cavuto, a chat with noted constitutional scholar Sheila Jackson Lee on location at the Capitol. I know, it doesn’t look like the Capitol, but that’s because she has an aide slightly out of view holding up a poster-sized photo of a bedridden elderly woman behind her. Yes, really — they didn’t even set it up on a stand. You can actually see the staffer’s hand enter the left side of the frame at times. Frankly, I’m a little disappointed that Lee didn’t take it and hold it in front of her, just because that would have made it a literal human shield in addition to being a metaphorical one. (Bonus fact: As Cavuto notes, the woman pictured in the photo is a Medicare recipient. Not only will she not lose her coverage if O-Care is repealed, it’s precisely because so many voters fear the consequences to Medicare from passing ObamaCare that the Democrats were destroyed among seniors last November.)

Incidentally, what if this kicks off a trend and other pols start doing news segments with DIY backdrops? For his next interview on ObamaCare, Paul Ryan should get a giant photo of a pile of money burning and have it pasted to his shoulders behind his neck.

LOL!! Or how about REAL MONEY!! The sad thing is, that would be far from the stupidest way Congress had spent money.

Sheila should have cut out the face of the patient and stuck her own mug in from behind, like those carnival props.

The Dems are are on defense for a change! Minus the ground into dust ‘Moral High Ground’ trying to re-sell a product the majority of US citizens want no part of.

Good luck with that, Dems!

Hope the House sends a new bill to repeal every month until Obama gets tired of it and finally caves.

Democrats walking around with their own ObamaCare interview backdrops now

That’s only the fall-back method of doing this.

What’s supposed to happen is Democrats are interviewed at MSNBC studios against a green-screen background, and then the guys in the engineering booth are supposed to digitally drop in behind the Dems a loop of live-action stock footage shot on a Hollywood sound-stage dressed up to look like a super-busy general hospital, with trained actors playing the parts of staff and urgently ill patients.

This digital magic is the same basic premise as the “backlot-in-a-box” concept used to such amazing effect throughout the final season of “24.” If Jackson Lee had been able to use it today, it would have looked exactly like she was at a hospital somewhere.

However, the stock footage was never sent because the thoroughly corrupt Democrats tried to pay with bad checks and the stock footage company refused to deliver as a result. So they had to resort to the cheesy printed backdrop we see in the clip above.

theperfecteconomist on January 19, 2011 at 8:32 PM

Got to be civil, you know! Pathetic.

That we accord these people any respect degrades the meaning of civility.

It would be sad if conservatives didn’t see this coming, and hadn’t formed a counter-response. Yet it appears that may be the case. Once this abomination was passed anyone with a passing knowledge of the Left should have anticipated the “cruelty vs. compassion” dynamic that would emerge. It is the first and last refuge of the Left. Conservatives should have outflanked them with their own dynamic. But we never do that. That would be gauche, bad form. Media might get mad. So instead we pull out numbers and charts and play the cold, calculating accountants from central liberal casting stealing away people’s healthcare.

I’ve never seen a “profession” like politics — in which supposed “professionals” learn nothing from their own histories of failure.

rrpjr on January 19, 2011 at 8:45 PM

And what should be repeated over and over and over again is STILL the fact that if you go to the emergency room at a hospital…..YOU CAN NOT BE TURNED AWAY!!! Stick that in your bun Jackson-Lee!

If you want to beat Obamacare you’ve got to play the same game as the Left, only better. You’ve got to talk about quality and choice and individual empowerment and how Obamacare is taking it all away. You’ve got to make it a argument about health, liberty, opportunity and sovereignty over one’s body. You’ve got to show how Obamacare is reducing your choices, degrading your care and turning America into a massive DMV of cold, cheap, indifferent and even cruel treatment.

You can’t just pull out CBO charts and talk about deficits.

Sugar cane planters in Hawai’i introduced the Indian Mongoose to the islands in the 1800′s because they thought they could control the rats that were eating their product in the fields and after it was harvested.

Only problem is, the mongoose (you tell me how to spell the plural) works all day and sleeps all night. Rats do the opposite.

Add to that the mongoose’s affection for wild bird eggs, and you have an Invasive Species.

sesquipedalian on January 19, 2011 at 9:17 PM

Translation: Rasmussen does not help me with my liberal talking points so I declare it a propaganda outfit without any proof what-so-ever……

Gallup makes an interesting point:
http://www.examiner.com/libertarian-in-national/poll-13-of-americans-approve-of-the-health-care-law-as-written#ixzz1BXle7w2v

Gallup:But there is an even more compelling reason to tone down the optimism and that is a second poll, conducted by Gallup/USA Today, that shows that only 13 percent of Americans like the law as it is written.

Perhaps the most telling question asked of respondents was “Did Democrats go too far with law?” the response to which is an emphatic yes.

Other findings in the poll suggest that even if the House proceeds in a bipartisan way, as Clyburn is now recommending, the fight to circumvent repeal of the law may be futile. One of the least popular components of the law continues to be the mandate that all Americans buy insurance, enroll in a government program, or pay a stiff tax. If this central component is expunged from the law, the plan topples like a house of cards.

….Yea that Healthcare bill that the majority of Americans were against but democrats pushed through anyway is a real winner Sesqui……13% love it just like it is….please, please, please hound your democratic representatives to support this great legislation right up to 2012.

repeal doesn’t have majority support in any poll, and will not even have plurality support going forward.

…If it is such a winner….then Reid should have no problem having the Senate take a vote on it….quit running from this fantastic Health Care bill democrats.

But it is nice to see liberals like Sesqui loving polls now since they ignored it when the majority of Americans:

………..were against the Health Care Bill…
……………..stated that the stimulus was a failure
…………………against building a Mosque at the site of the 9/11 attacks.
…………………….support Arizona’s illegal immigration law…………..
………………….against Cap and Trade
…………………….against civilian trials for terrorist.

………..tell us Sesqui…where was all this “listen to the people….look at the polls” when democrats were pushing this massively unpopular legislation.

no it wasn’t. it was about the economy.

sesquipedalian on January 19, 2011 at 9:25 PM

……..You mean the economy that the super smart Obama administration named “Recovery Summer” ……
………………stated that “we are headed in the right direction”……
………..promised “500,000 jobs a month” by May 2010…

Yea that worked out real well genius….
………….People who are having to pay higher premiums,..
……….looking at reduced quality of care and choice,
……. taking on the cost of paying for tens of millions of people to get “free” Health Care
………and billions of dollars in tax increases
would consider Obamacare a part of their economic stress.
