Quotes of the day

posted at 10:37 pm on January 19, 2011 by Allahpundit

“Even James Carville’s polling firm cannot get Obama to get 50% against Governor Palin. She trails him by a reasonable ten points considering that it’s Carville’s firm (go ask re-elected Governor Corzine about how left-leaning Carville’s polling group is) and that this poll was taken at the same time that Governor Palin was being blood libeled. It’s quite amazing that Obama can only beat someone the Democrat Party effectively claims is an accessory to murder by ten points.

“This poll also shows that Governor Palin has room to grow among her base. Only 83% of Republicans have decided who they are going to vote for her in a hypothetical Palin-Obama matchup while 98% of Democrats have decided. So she can close the margin pretty easily just by winning over undecided Republicans while Obama does not have any more room to grow among his Democrat Party base.”

***
“A new national poll indicates that 56 percent of all Americans have an unfavorable view of Sarah Palin, an all-time high for the former Alaska governor. That 56 percent unfavorable figure is up seven points from just before the midterm elections, according to a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll released Wednesday morning.

“Thirty-eight percent of people questioned in the poll say they have a favorable view of the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee, down two points from October…

“According to the survey, Palin’s unfavorable rating is up 10 points among women, compared to just three points among men, and among independent voters, her unfavorable rating has grown a whopping 14 points.”

***
“Professional jealousy and intellectual snobbery, however, only scratch the surface of the left’s bizarre attitude toward Palin. They explain the intensity of the disdain, but not the outright hatred–not why some people whose grasp of reality is sufficient to function in society made the insane inference that she was to blame for a madman’s attempt to murder Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.

“This unhinged hatred of Palin comes mostly from women

“We’d say this goes beyond mere jealousy. For many liberal women, Palin threatens their sexual identity, which is bound up with their politics in a way that it is not for any other group (possibly excepting gays, though that is unrelated to today’s topic)…

“Liberal women are the active, driving force behind hatred of Sarah Palin, while liberal men’s behavior is passive and manipulative. In this respect, feminism has succeeded in reversing the traditional sexual stereotypes. If this is the result, you have to wonder why anyone would have bothered.”

***
“The time has come to put any thoughts of Sarah Palin running for President to rest. I say that not because I dislike her; on the contrary, I’m a fan. I think she did an excellent job as a vice-presidential candidate in 2008 and has been an effective spokeswoman for conservative causes in the years since. But there is no way she is ever going to be elected President, and the sooner Republicans get over that idea, the better…

“No one with a 59 percent unfavorability rating among independents has the chance of a snowball in Hell of being elected President. 2012 will be a vitally important election year; it is no time for a kamikaze Presidential campaign or for a cult of personality. Republicans (and conservatives) need a candidate who has a chance to win against an incumbent who, despite everything, is not particularly unpopular and who won’t be able to do much visible damage between now and then.”

I was at the Boston Tea Party. I sang the national anthem shortly before Sarah spoke. The Boston Police estimated the crowd at 16,000 not 10K. The crowd was so large when Sarah spoke you couldn’t see where it ended. This in the people’s republic of MA. Sarah is very popular here in New England despite what you might read or hear in the press and we are VERY dedicated to working for her. Organizing for 2012 has already begun.

It’s so cool that you sang there, shmendrick. And, your report, up close and personal, reaffirms what I feel in my bones. Palin can take this all the way to the WH. Like a great thoroughbred, just give her her way, and let her run.
Many who don’t want her to run are transparently (although they think they’ve got people fooled)afraid /envious/secretly opposed to her because of her vibrant Christianity and ability.

None of these people can make a coherent, fact/record based case for another candidate and why this other should run. Curiouser and curiouser.

I’ve been thinking about this for some time and I finally decided that Palin should run no matter what.

If she runs, even if she doesn’t get the nomination or win the election the country would benefit.

In the primary, she will get to take on all the comers, and I think she would make mince meat of all of them. This would also have the result of letting the country watch her unfiltered, talking policy with the best the GOP has to offer. I think she will not only hold her own but rule. But even if she doesn’t win the nomination she will force the rest to be more conservative.

In the general election she would start out with low numbers but I believe the same thing would happen. She will eviserate the 0′s talking points. She will go everywhere with adoring crowds everywhere. The media won’t be able to cover this up or ignore it. She will come across as real, honest, and with common sense. He will come across as aloof, out of touch with the electorate despite the media’s attempts to glorify him. But here’s the important news:

0 will never be able to portray himself as a moderate or faux conservative as compared to her. Even if she doesn’t win the general, we will still win the Senate along with the House. Even if 0 gets another 4 years he won’t be able to do much of anything. Supreme Court? Can’t put another lib there if the Senate won’t confirm them. With the redistricting done by the GOP controlled state houses, the next election is going to tilt the Senate to the GOP unless the Dems win by a landslide and given that unemployment is going to continue to be high, gas is headed to $5, and he and the Dems will fight any attempt to reduce spending. No matter how much money he spends on the election it won’t work.
Soooo it’s Palin in 2012. Nobody else has the extremely dedicated supporters to work like hell for her. Nobody else has the Tea Partiers behind them like her. She has been our standard bearer, is now our standard bearer and will very probably be our standard bearer in 2012. And I for one will work like hell for her.

Though, after seeing the Obamas (the whole family) trying to impress Hu like a bunch of circus freaks, perhaps Obama is a big fan of some this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CLP5LbaxfqA

Agreed. It was Palin and the TP that put the gop well over the top in November. It wasn’t Romney and the TP, or Newt and the TP, or Huck and the TP. It was Sarah Palin and the TP. They made it possible for the gop to retake the House. They, that is, we, not the establishment, will call the shots. Let’s not let anyone tell us we can’t do it. Sarah and the TP can repeat the same greatness in 2012. Will we allow the establishment/dem team to toss her, and by extension, us aside like garbage to install their sure loser, another McCain/Dole type who they know will lay down and give obama/soros another four years? By which time there will be no America left?? No. No. And No.

tigerlily on January 20, 2011 at 2:27 AM

I will only vote for Sarah Palin.

Four more years for Obama because my job will be to talk as mnay people as possible in staying home.

Two can play their fu##ing games.

Thanks to you and John the Lib for the kudo’s but I just wanted all to know it was a really big crowd. The local media did everything they could to minimize it but I was dere so I know da truth. Highlight of my singing career. When I finished the crowd was all chanting USA USA… Got lots of kudos afterward as people were leaving. Biggest disapointment was never getting to meet Sarah. She was only feet away. Oh well. :>(
