Video: The very dumbest political soundbites about the Arizona shootings

posted at 7:03 pm on January 18, 2011 by Allahpundit

A time capsule from Reason TV that’s way, way shorter than it could have been. I assume the video editor planned something longer but had to stop after two minutes from his sheer soul-crushing despair at the state of American punditry. Or maybe his mistake was limiting himself exclusively to video material. For instance, by doing that, he had to omit this useful example of “civility” from Loughner victim turned leftist hero turned death-threat suspect Eric Fuller:

James Eric Fuller, 63, who was shot in the knee, had told The Post on Friday, the day before his arrest, that top Republican figures should be tortured — and their ears severed.

“There would be torture and then an ear necklace, with [Minnesota US Rep.] Michelle Bachmann and Sarah Palin’s ears toward the end, because they’re small, female ears, and then Limbaugh, Hannity and the biggest ears of all, Cheney’s, in the center,” Fuller said.

Hey, we can’t blame an entire ideology for the actions of a man who was clearly under extreme psychological stress. Unless of course that man is Jared Loughner, whose motives are still indecipherable to the feds after interviewing fully 300 of his friends and acquaintances.

If nothing else good comes from all of this, at least we know now that crosshairs symbols are totally verboten in political discourse, no matter how transparently metaphorical and nonviolent their usage. Or are they?

An ear necklace? I haven’t heard about those since JFKerry smeared his fellow soldiers in the Winter Soldier rant.

I know it is hard for a public figure to sue for libel, but some of these statements are over the top and Palin and Beck should have a very solid case for libel IMO. I mean the one guy stated that Glen Beck was personally responsible for at least 3 assanitions attemps this year alone.

Johnnyreb on January 18, 2011 at 7:10 PM

Again, the pathology is plain…you look at every libtard in that video, and you know they spent their growing up years getting their a$$es kicked.

Stay classy, lefties. Stay classy.

ZK on January 18, 2011 at 7:12 PM

Never before has so much absolute moronic jackass stupidity and sheer nonsensical buffoonery, heavily sprinkled with an overgenerous amount of total B.S. been capsulized into a video running under two minutes….unless, of course, you count any Bill Maher opening monologue.

pilamaye on January 18, 2011 at 7:13 PM

What we are seeing is the dictates of Obama’s mentor, Saul Alinsky. He wrote the Book for Radicals. Palin and the right are being, “Identified, Isolated and Demonized”. Alinsky’s method of attack was “use constant ridicule and when the victim defends themselves, twist their denial with lies and distortion”. This is exactly whats happening now and most the these brainwashed loons don’t realize they are just tools to be used to gain power for their elitest masters. Hillary is a disciple of Alinski too. She wrote a paper on Alinski her last year at Wellesly. Check it out. Google: Rules for Radicals.

Mental health patients need help. Start with the ones in the video.

Are we even sure this guy got shot? Who leaves mass chaos and drives themselves to the hospital?

Torture and ear necklace obsessions for opponents are nothing compared to targeting a political figure for challenge in an election. Say, is Fuller still as popular with the left as he was right after the Tucson shootings? Seems to have dropped off the interview circuit.

To once again paraphrase Hitchens – If you gave these morons a collective enema you could bury what’s left in a matchbox.

Bill Maher is a disgusting little man — one can’t call him a comedian, since I have it on good authority that a comedian is supposed to be funny — who has an inflated idea of both his importance in the scheme of things, and his level of education — both of which are small to nonexistent.

hachiban on January 18, 2011 at 7:27 PM

And the left says Birthers are insane. At least they arent murderous or anti free speech.

William Amos on January 18, 2011 at 7:31 PM

Maher wears about two inches of pancake makeup, but nothing will cover up that ugliness.

Do they have the “ear necklace” statement on tape? If they do the FBI should have it because he’s threatening a sitting Congresswoman, Bachmann.Even if that’s not a serious threat, he sure as heck shouldn’t be wandering around on the street.

From Free Republic:

A 7-month-old baby survived alone for three days with a bullet wound in its chest beside the bodies of its parents and brother, who died in an apparent suicide pact brought on by the couple’s terror of global warming, the Argentine press said Saturday.

Since turnabout is fair play, shouldn’t there be a tsunami of MSM moral outrage over Al Gore’s obvious role in these deaths?

Knucklehead on January 18, 2011 at 7:18 PM

Supposedly security cameras aplenty had full coverage of the event. We’ll soon find out if Fullofit was even there. Methinks he shot himself with a .22 pistol at home. If he came to the hospital with the clothes he was shot in they ought to test the residue for shot proximity.

AH_C on January 18, 2011 at 9:48 PM

“Expand our moral imaginations”?

Obama is a fool. The media did expand their moral imaginations and chose the direction that would further their interests.

It’s really that simple.

ButterflyDragon on January 19, 2011 at 4:57 AM

Butterfly…I came down here to mention the same phrase! What is a moral imagination? Many people praised this speech but I found it stuffed with the same nonsensical claptrap that the left spews on a daily basis. Claptrap that sounds peaceful and loving and nice…but which is actually empty of any meaning.

He is a tool…a regular tool and a tool of the left.

allstonian on January 19, 2011 at 9:29 AM

This highlight only provides further evidence those on the left regurgitate talking points provided by their leadership at every opportunity.

I have not seen an issue that the major puppets offer their own opinion.

Therefore, the term ‘Mindless Numbed Robots’ is appropriate for every one of them.
