Audio: Piven says Tea Party all about sex, or something

posted at 8:48 am on January 17, 2011 by Ed Morrissey

The Blaze captures audio from progressive political scientist Frances Fox Piven attempting to explain last month why Democrats found themselves out of the House majority in a historic midterm blowout.  You may want to take some Dramamine before listening to it, though, because it has more twists and turns than ObamaCare, which under the circumstances is the most appropriate comparison.  First Piven starts off by claiming that it’s all about, age, then race, and then it’s all about wealth — and then it’s all about race again.  She then decides that it’s all about sex, with explaining that this is based on the solid social-science method of pulling assumptions out of thin air:

“You know, I don’t have any data on this, but I am absolutely sure sex is very important in what is happening to older people.”

You know, I don’t have any data on this, either, but I am absolutely sure that smug, self-righteous, snobbish judgments without any evidence whatsoever is very important to political “scientists” of Piven’s ilk.  In fact, Piven’s entire presentation is utterly fact-free — a series of condescending conjectures based on opinions formed without any data at all.  Her theories are intended to blame the voters for their rejection of Democratic leadership rather than reaching the obvious conclusion that pushing a radical, unpopular agenda will mean losing elections, and losing them big.

If the Tea Party is all about sex, well, I’ve been going to the wrong events.  Perhaps Piven has confused the Tea Party with key parties?

In fact, Piven’s entire presentation is utterly fact-free — a series of condescending conjectures based on opinions formed without any data at all.

Give me an example of liberal science or opinion that is not. The sad thing is knowing the target audience is sitting there out of camera nodding their heads in complete agreement. And agreeing without any critical analysis because they’re given what they want to hear. Dialogue that fits their most convenient definition; fact be damned.

They are the most clueless people, the most ignorant people in the world.
Liberals, as a whole, are just ignorant…This gal, Bill Maher, they just live in their world, and have no idea what the rest of the world, the majority of the American World thinks.
We are concerned about an “African-American president, nooooo, we are concerned about an incompetent leader. By their standard, if you are “black” you are competent.
Liberals must have a very, very, difficult time living in society, so I can see why they become bureaucrats and professors.

Economics is based in assumptions. Piven proceeds, in political science the same way, assuming her audience is full of left leaning Democrats, she proceeds to make them feel comfortable and self satisfied.

with explaining that this is based on the solid social-science method of pulling assumptions out of thin air:

Years ago, I had a friend who worked in – what was called at the time – Data Processing. He had a phrase which describes Ms. Pivens social-science ( and I use the word “science” in the same manner former President Clinton used the word “is”: it means anything you’d like it to mean) and her resulting assumptions perfectly:

Rectal Extraction

Beacause frankly, “thin air” isn’t the location from which Ms. Pivem is removing her assumptions.

The left is freaked-out that the playbook has changed for them. No longer will conservatives (notice I did not say republicans!) sit down, shut-up and apologize when they tell us to. We need to keep talking, keep pushing solutions, keep demanding that our representatives act like they want America to win on all fronts (military, economic, social) and not like globalists pining for a one-world government.

I think we need to just keep on doing what we are doing – remember love conquers all–and we love this country the way our forefathers intended us to, and we are going to do our best to preserve it. Take that libs and smoke it.

The Left has that covered–they call it “analysis” or “cultural criticism” or some other vagueness that allows them to begin with their assumptions and draw their conclusions without any evidence to support them (e.g., feminists blame “patriarchal hegemony” for everything, and when you disagree it is proof of its existence–its omnipresence means you fail to recognize it).

Reading her bio on Wiki, and seeing some of the links, and reading from a resident tard in this thread, I have to ask, “why aren’t the leftist trash proud of one of their obvious leaders? Why don’t they want Piven’s ideas and world view known to the largest audience possible?”

It’s almost as if sesquipedalian, and a lot of the leftist trash sourced at wiki, on the “conspiracy” to make Piven’s ideas and world view known to the most people as possible, are actually ashamed of that world view?

I like my world view known to as many as possible. I’m proud of it. Why the shame, sesq? Why feel the need to run interference? So what if Beck quotes her. What’s wrong with the age old concept of free advertising? Unless you’re ashamed of your own ideas, that is.
