Steny Hoyer: I’m thinking most tea partiers probably come from unhappy families

posted at 4:35 pm on January 5, 2011 by Allahpundit

I’m amazed. Not that a Democrat would say it — this is straight out of the Harry Reid songbook — but that it would come from someone like Hoyer who’s not normally given to bomb-throwing. In fact, you can tell that this sort of thing isn’t his forte: As thumbnail psychoanalyses of political opponents go, it’s one of the lamest examples I’ve ever heard.

In fairness, the man’s hurting right now after being unceremoniously dumped back into the House minority. And look on the bright side: A year ago, their catch-all explanation for tea party motivations was racism. (For Howard Dean, it still is.) Now, per Hoyer, it’s upgraded to family dysfunction, a condition that’s downright sympathetic. You’re not evil anymore! You’re just … sad. Aw:

There are a whole lot of people in the Tea Party that I see in these polls who don’t want any compromise. My presumption is they have unhappy families. All of you have been in families: single-parent, two-parents, whatever. Multiple parent and a stepfather. The fact is life is about trying to reach accommodation with one another so we can move forward. That is certainly what democracy is about. So if we are going to move forward compromise is necessary.

And that’s why wanting to reform entitlements necessarily means tension around the dinner table. Exit question via Newsbusters: Could the real problem with tea partiers be, in the eloquent words of Joy Behar, that “this Constitution-loving is getting out of hand”? Watch the clip and I think you’ll agree that it sounds scary. And not just because “smart liberal” Bill Press seems to believe there’s a right of privacy somewhere in the constitutional text.

I think Steny is improperly projecting his unhappiness and hate about being named “Steny” onto all of us.

Words of wisdom from a looser that just can’t believe he was listen to last year and this year he’s a nobody.

Alright Homer, it’s time for you to compromise and do what the Republicans want to do. You know, for the sake of bipartisanship and getting along. Isn’t that what you demanded of the Republicans for the last 4 years?

I really detest these people. To them, compromise is us giving up our principles and letting them do what they want.

/See, wasn’t that easy?

AZfederalist on January 5, 2011 at 6:32 PM

I don’t think Steny’s daddy loved him all that much.

Hey, you’d be unhappy too, if you were a Leftist with the same name as a machine gun used by the Brits in World War 2!

Steny was rolled by Princess Nana back when the democratics first anointed a new Speaker of the House. He was also Nan’s mentor when she started into politics aeons ago. It had to hurt to see her destroy the democratic majority.

A blowup between those two is long overdue.

slickwillie2001 on January 5, 2011 at 6:45 PM

Most democrat men beat their wives. And most of them molest their own children. So there, turd.

When the Dems rode a media-created President’s coattails into majorities in both houses, it was a mandate so strong they did not even need to pretend to listen to the opposition.

Now, when the Republicans utterly crush the Dems across the board, largely based on voter anger with Presidential incompetence and Democrat arrogance, it turns out the Republicans hardly have any right to govern even one house unless the ask the Dems pretty-please.

drunyan8315 on January 5, 2011 at 7:14 PM

With every hatemongering word from liberal after liberal, the left just adds to their own demise. They look down on those they use as tools to retain power. Anyone who even hints at disagreeing with them are attecked with an onslaught of disparaging insults in order to beat them down. Bring it on, scum.

volsense on January 5, 2011 at 7:16 PM

All of you have been in families: single-parent, two-parents, whatever. Multiple parent and a stepfather.

Sounds more like a democrat family to me.

Speaking of family, if you’re born in the inner city, who is your father? Answer: State Welfare. What is your church? Answer: Liberalism. Who is your god? Answer: Government. What is your occupation? Answer: Player.

Just the way Steny likes it.

jaime on January 5, 2011 at 7:19 PM

Steny Hoyer: I’m thinking most tea partiers probably come from unhappy families

Funny, I always thought that about progressives since they constantly feel the need to fundamentally transform something that’s already great. Tea Partiers are trying to defend and preserve the good thing.

True. The Dems always attribute to their “enemies” the flaws that they have themselves.

We could also call them the Projectile Vomiting party since they tend to spew bile.

I’m thinking Steny Hoyer probably came from an unhappy family.

… probably came from an abusive childhood.

… probably came from an alcoholic father.

This really is quite easy, just making up shi*.

Shiny_Tiara on January 5, 2011 at 8:25 PM

Why…most racists come from broken families! And democrats stand for family values, don’t you know…so long as you’re a gay couple and your kids were created in a test tube.

If you’re going to be fair, last time I looked he still has a paycheck coming in which millions of others don’t thanks to him and his Marxist loving party.

Any politician who would say what he did should be laughed out of office. The Dems act like the bullies on the elementary school playground. This is the most childish group of adults I have ever seen.

Whippet on January 5, 2011 at 9:01 PM

Brilliant Steny. Keep insulting the new guys and all the people who voted them and help us shellac you again in 2012.

Cripes, they haven’t even turned all the lights on and these infants are already starting in.

Damn straight, Steny, we are unhappy. We’re unhappy with the way you and your cohorts have been treating us, the country and our Constitution. Congrats, I think this is the first time I’ve ever said a dem said something I can agree with.

Yup, getting out of hand and back at all the Behar’s in the world.

Time is up for the liberal agenda. I prefer the kettle corn. Please pass it my way.

I love it when even the seemingly rational Donks drop the veil and reveals their utter contempt for the American people.

Keep on alienating the voters in droves, Steny!

2012 keeps looking better and better every day…

SuperCool on January 6, 2011 at 3:02 AM

That is certainly what democracy is about. So if we are going to move forward compromise is necessary.

I love how – now that they’re in the minority – it’s all about compromise.

Where was your desire for compromise for the last 2-4 years, Steny?

STFU, jerk.

Isn’t that word for word what the King said about the colonoies patriots?

Mr. Hoyer, could you ever leave your warped paradigm long enough to ask yourself “WHY”they’re unhapppy?

Don L on January 6, 2011 at 6:39 AM

As Dr. Frankenstein said to Igor when he saw all the torches and pitchforks coming through the night from the villages – I think they’re coming from “unhappy familes.”

Let’s hope they stay very unhappy and millions more wake up and join them in their attempts to throw the vermin out of Washington.

There are a whole lot of people in the Tea Party that I see in these polls who don’t want any compromise.

They are only following the dems lead…oh wait…the dems do compromise….they allow their political opponents the opportunity to bend over and grab their ankles instead of being forcibly bent over and bound before the baseball bat is inserted.

So, he’s afraid that he won’t be allowed to bend over but will be bent over and bound…Oh well, what goes around, comes around.

Steny…LMAO!

belad on January 6, 2011 at 7:57 AM

Makes me wonder where stuff shirt, egotistical, congressmen were brought up.

mixplix on January 6, 2011 at 8:00 AM

So right. Liberals have never read the Constitution because they have banned teaching civics in school and testing the future leaders what being a good citizen is all about. They should also learn what is in the Constitution because all of the rhetoric they have slandered back and forth for 40 plus years is in there but it is not in their favor.

So the bottom line, Congress can not pass any law that is not backed by a Constitutionally mandated purpose, and those laws must be free of riders which do not enhance the bill/law. But foremost, the guiding direction Congress should take is to review all the laws on the books getting rid of duplications and/or existing law/rules which do not have relevance.

MSGTAS on January 6, 2011 at 8:09 AM

Gee, Steny. As if we weren’t sure what you were thinking during the Tea Party protests leading up to the 2010 elections.

As if whatever you think is relevant from minority status.

Take your own gripe medicine and quit transposing your own unhappy childhood hang-ups across the board to where US citizens grew up knowing the difference between right and wrong learned from loving, responsible parents.

maverick muse on January 6, 2011 at 8:31 AM

MSGTAS on January 6, 2011 at 8:09 AM

Given computer analysis, that is an extremely realistic demand.

But you know that corrupt politicians will use every opportunity “cleansing the temple” to corrupt it under deceit. Given thorough exposure to the public, there would be oversight to the legislative process. “Transparency”

maverick muse on January 6, 2011 at 8:35 AM

It’s quite obvious that Democrats learned nothing from the 2010 election. They still don’t understand why they lost big.

Dear kindly Steny Hoyer,
You gotta understand,
It’s just our bringing up-ke

Our mothers all are junkies,
Our fathers all are drunks,
Golly Moses, natcherly we’re punks!

Gee. Congressman Hoyer, we’re very upset;

We ain’t no delinquents,
We’re misunderstood,

I am thinking Steny Hoyer is an overpaid career political hack…but I don’t blame his parents.

Dr Evil on January 6, 2011 at 10:48 AM

Slapping this 10 cent psyche analasis came on the heels of an editorial that proclaimed that the “new” GOP is intellectually lazy.

I couldn’t help but note the irony.

I do think fringe elements are highly dysfunctional. I think the person who spends their life racing to Code Pink events is probably a pretty sick individual in life. I think that someone who writes their congressperson over 3 times a week probably needs help. I think that a LOAD of media stories are honestly about the most extreme.

Why are people surprised? We’re just now discovering hoarders, for heaven’s sakes.

Don’t Democrats represent the highest proportion of broken homes?

Most inner city Representatives are Democrat, and large cities are where the majority of Democrat representation lies. With an illegitimacy rate hovering around 70% there, that sounds like a recipe for a broken, sad family. Just saying…

He missed the fact Obama’s biological Dad was a bigamist (polygamist), so he could have added, “two mommies and a dad”…

scotash on January 6, 2011 at 2:28 PM

Steny Hoyer and his ilk are poor boys and girls who missed their mommies and daddies growing up, who had no real friends, and who sat and talked to an invisible entity in the corner of the room 24/7.

They are just sad, sad people who had no real life and project their poisonous mindset onto others.
