Poll: Obamateurism of the Year, Semi-Final Flight 2
posted at 8:05 am on December 30, 2010 by Ed Morrissey
We’re down to the second round of six semi-finalists for the 2010 Obamateurism of the Year. I was surprised to see the two winning choices from yesterday’s poll; I expected the “you’ve made enough money” quote to make it to the finals, but I didn’t guess that the SCOTUS scolding would beat Captain Kick-Ass. The wisdom of Hot Air readers is demonstrated yet again!
Today’s list gives us even tougher choices. Two of these worthy six entries will move ahead to the final, while the other four will get punished and removed (not far!) from the podium. You won’t get 132 chances to make a pick, so be sure to do so as soon as possible!
- Obama says First Couple “not far removed” from economic pain in financial collapse despite making millions in 2008
- Obama endorses Ground Zero mosque, then says he wasn’t “commenting on the wisdom” of building it at the site
- Obama quotes Declaration, leaves out “endowed by their Creator”
- “We’re gonna punish our enemies…”
- Obama leaves Clinton at press conference podium on tax deal to attend Christmas party
- Obama refers to himself 132 times in a speech
Tomorrow, we’ll have the final poll that selects the Obamateurism of the Year!

Got an Obamateurism of the Day? If you see a foul-up by Barack Obama, e-mail it to me atobamaisms@edmorrissey.com with the quote and the link to the Obamateurism. I’ll post the best Obamateurisms on a daily basis, depending on how many I receive. Include a link to your blog, and I’ll give some link love as well. And unlike Slate, I promise to end the feature when Barack Obama leaves office.

Can we get Fox to call it for leaving Bubba at the podium?

Recall that the “enemies” he is punishing are…wait for it…US!

Had to go with punish our enemies, Because that’s how dear liar see’s all of us who don’t embrace his socialistic utopia he’s trying to force upon us…
SHARPTOOTH on December 30, 2010 at 8:16 AM
This has been a common thread through out his time as dear leader. Can’t I just eat my waffle, we’re buying shrimp here, we’re eating our ice cream, or hamburger, gotta go to the party, etc, more and more of the me, me, me theme.
Kissmygrits on December 30, 2010 at 8:16 AM
A truly defining moment of his Presidency; booking out the door to go to a Christmas party while leaving a former President to assume his duties and take the heat.
As Dan Rather would have said: COURAGE.
pilamaye on December 30, 2010 at 8:17 AM
Looking at his watch and leaving Clinton to hold his press conference….that clip has got to replayed over and over in the background as Obama campaigns for a second term ..Or.. If Obama decides not to run for a second term it can be played in the background as he gives his farewell speech.

Fabulous choices Ed…
This was the selection I had to go with. Perfect example of passing the buck to a real player who could take the puck and at least make an effort to score a goal. Obama is in over his head big time, and this event proved that even he knows it.

They’re all pretty bad but typical of this narciistic jerk. But I went with leaving Bubba to be the President. It exemplifies his whole attitude towards his job and the responsibilities it entails.

Tony perkins and FRC has not even attended CPAC for over 10 years.
Why are they threatening to protest it even though they don’t attend it.,

Obama voting “present” at the Christmas party, leaving Bubba to handle the job of the president. Classy and classic Obama.

This was a tough semi-final. A couple choices might have made the finals, if not pitted against what will be the eventual winner (leaving Bill at the podium).

Tough call between the GZVM, Creator, and Punish … I went with Creator.
Ed, you’re ‘leading the witness’ with your pictures! haha
Tony737 on December 30, 2010 at 8:47 AM
No question…even though the others are quite good (or bad as the case is).
It’s abandoning a press conference…leaving it in the hands of a private citizen/former President… to go to a party.
Just. Yikes.

Any of the last four Obamateurisms qualify as a reason to remove him from office, bodily. It’s almost unfair to make us choose one.

I shoulda picked Bubba tapout, but I picked #3 which is far more dangerous.
ted c on December 30, 2010 at 9:43 AM
As always, all of the above, though leaving Clinton in charge speaks volumes about The One’s idiocy. Hmmmmm…. can’t we vote for them all please?
chai on December 30, 2010 at 9:47 AM
The only thing that would have made leaving Bubba in charge better is if Barry had tripped while exiting the stage.
Yoop on December 30, 2010 at 9:48 AM
Dang Ed, this is tough.
I’d make the Super Bowl game between
leaving out “endowed by their Creator” ( a simple enough, rote part of the Declaration that takes intentional effort to leave out)
vs.
leaving Clinton at the podium (leave the stage, as president, while a somewhat political opponent is still there?!)
#1 is the premier mask slip — and while I’m not 100% sure about the fidelity to the Declaration & Constitution of every president (coff, Wilson, coff) they at least paid lip service. Dear Liar doesn’t bother with lip service. Hence, while He is an American by birth, He is not an American.
#2 is just plain stupid, no matter what the nation or political system. You never leave the stage in that situation. And then to blame your wife — weak and henpecked.
rbj on December 30, 2010 at 9:49 AM
“Punish our enemies” nothing like making your fellow countrymen enemies while embracing your country’s enemies. Fortunately, our country’s enemies have rejected his embrace and he has not yet succeeded in creating an Hispanic versus Anglo civil war.

Your right Ed I am going to have to make up a new Rubric to chose this time.
Rubric to use a range to rate performance
I have been using Obama’s office position. The Office of the President is where Obama exerts his influence.
Dr Evil on December 30, 2010 at 10:07 AM
I really felt that punish our enemies would make it all the way. That was a pretty sick thing to say about your own people.

Your right Ed I am going to have to make up a new Rubric to chose this time.
Rubric to use a range to rate performance
I have been using Obama’s office position. The Office of the President is where Obama exerts his influence.
I went with the Ground Zero Mosque because Obama endorsed a religion by endorsing the building of the Mosque. Obama is the President – so the President of the United States was endorsing a “Religion” he wasn’t staying neutral.
Obama endorses Ground Zero Mosque, then says he wasn’t “commenting on the wisdom” of building it at the site
The runner up was leaving out “endowed by their creator”
Leaving President Clinton at the podium was impromptu and really dumb. For a man who spends so much time worrying over optics, he really skrewed the pooch, making himself look like a prop to Bill Clinton, in the White House Press Room. Not that I wasn’t relieved to see Bill Clinton SNARK.
Dr Evil on December 30, 2010 at 10:14 AM
The worst part of Lightworker’s bone-headed move was getting my hopes up that he was stepping down.

Hard not to vote for that one. Oh heck, it’s hard not to vote for 99.9% of them – but had to go with Bubba at the Podium with the Presidential seal as Omama ran off to the wifie’s holiday party.

UltimateBob on December 30, 2010 at 11:27 AM
Naaah, he’ll never step down. Not that he wants to actually do the job, he just wants to keep collecting the paycheck and enjoying the perks.
UltimateBob on December 30, 2010 at 11:30 AM
Passing to BJ doesn’t really get to the heart of Barry-ville. So for me, it has to be either his promotion promotion of self or demotion of deity. I went with the self-promotion.
These are difficult choices, indicating the grand scope of incompetence, cynicism, and foolishness at the top of this administration and throughout.
exdeadhead on December 30, 2010 at 11:30 AM
Ed, you need to run this one again without the “leaving Clinton at the podium” option. That one is a no-brainer for the finals. Good mix on the choices for secondary inclusion, though. (Which is what I voted on, figuring that the Clinton one would get plenty of votes without needing mine.)
ss396 on December 30, 2010 at 11:39 AM
I went with the GZM endorsement. We are fighting two wars against fanatical Muslims who killed 3000 innocent Americans and this guy wants them to build their victory Cordoba Mosque at the site of the worst of it!?!?!? His backpedfling after was despicable and cowardly.

Bubba’s gonna win. Easy to see as soon as it happened. It’s clearly the signature moment of this failed presidency.
RedNewEnglander on December 30, 2010 at 2:38 PM
I went with “we’re gonna punish our enemies” because Obama truly does believe that America needs to be taken down to create equity on an international scale. He is anti-American, anti-rule of law, anti-Constitution through and through. To him, suicide bombers and stealth jihadists are an annoyance, but the American people who reject him and all he stands for are the ones he truly hates.
Connie on December 30, 2010 at 3:21 PM
I went with the mosque, even though the Clintonesque affair (pun intended) with the media-he thought was an advantage for him, but he slopped miserably. It was a big shocka indeed. I wasn’t surprised at the incredible polling results.
The mosque, however, it really was a gaffe that went under the radar because it was a misstatement that people in the media didn’t pick. We did. He let his true self speak first, then he had to backtrack.
Hope I made myself clear? I have an insane headache.
