Video: The Jib-Jab 2010 review

posted at 12:15 pm on December 20, 2010 by Ed Morrissey

We’re a few days late on this one, but it’s definitely good for a few laughs. JibJab has Barack Obama and Joe Biden dancing through its review of 2010, and manages to squeeze in as many political and pop-culture references it can get into just over 2 minutes. Some of my favorite moments: the seal falling off of the podium and the momentary highlighting of Charlie Rangel, as well as the last joke involving a basketball and stitches. As Joe Biden would say, “It’s a big effin’ production.”

I liked the seal falling off the podium. Nice touch.

This will somehow be racist. Funny, but racist.

Mord on December 20, 2010 at 12:22 PM

It might be funny if it were not so tragic.

VegasRick on December 20, 2010 at 12:22 PM

Hysterical. I’m a little disappointed Christine O’Donnell didn’t make it in there…

Outlander on December 20, 2010 at 12:23 PM

LMAO!

DarkCurrent on December 20, 2010 at 12:23 PM

The video suggests Obama is unfairly not getting credit for ending the war in Iraq.

Are you kidding me?

jhffmn on December 20, 2010 at 12:23 PM

It was sad that all this happened to our Republic in 2010 by bho, team, and the dc bunch. The video was funny though.

that’s pretty good. I like the “he just wants one, just give him one……cigarette!” I thought it was going to say “term”…heh.

It’s the tap-dancing black guy that makes it racist. Not PC.

Cute, but not as funny as the one they did for the campaign.

AZCoyote on December 20, 2010 at 12:27 PM

Jib Jab’s Obama/Biden puppets vs. The Daily Show’s Michael Steele “Muppet.”

All in all, a good year for political puppets.

Iraq War? Don’t forget, Obama has ended Islamic Terrorism by making us beloved by the world.

Jones Zemkophill on December 20, 2010 at 12:47 PM

I liked it, but it wasn’t as big on non political events as it has been in the past.

Esthier on December 20, 2010 at 12:50 PM

Actually… I see this as a homage to Obama. While there’s some mockery of the flubs he had, the core of the song applauds all of his actions and laws (health care, finance reform, not getting credit for ending the war in Iraq…) and basically claims he’s not getting any respect FROM REPUBLICANS AND TEA PARTIERS (did you see any Democrat or Liberal protesters in the video? Naaah…)

Now contrast that with JibJab’s end of the year reviews during the Bush Administration where they attacked both his flubs AND his policies.

Skywise on December 20, 2010 at 12:54 PM

They should have given the Obama puppet purple lips to make it more realistic.

OxyCon on December 20, 2010 at 12:55 PM

Seemed pretty damned sympathetic to me. Poor Obama inherited a mess and got no credit for what he did.

Oh, and puppets are racist.

Sugar Land on December 20, 2010 at 1:07 PM

Was he tap dancing? How Racist!

I took it as making fun of his EXPECTING credit for ending the war in Iraq. And for the sun rising in the east.

iurockhead on December 20, 2010 at 1:37 PM

Keep dance’n it ain’t over yet.

The Dems face planted a year ago, last August.

They may want to forget 2010 but.

Speakup on December 20, 2010 at 1:40 PM

JibJab obviously has no respect for the moron in chief.

jhffmn on December 20, 2010 at 12:23 PM

Sad, but true. He’s also NOT getting credit for:

1. Fixing the economy.
2. Creating jobs
3. Making health care affordable
4. Protecting America

Next year, he’s going to get credit for:
1. Resurrecting the death tax
2. Killing the stock market with new investment taxes.
3. Making food unaffordable.
4. Making energy unaffordable and scarce.
5. Killing GM by forcing production of the laughably expensive and stupidly incapable VOLT.
6. Making health care unavailable at any price
7. Killing air travel by stupidly insisting upon the rape of all potential air passengers by thugs with dirty gloves.
8. Spying on cell phone users
9. Spying on Internet users
10. The worst administration in the history of the USA.

I love Jib Jab…Clever folks.

StarLady on December 20, 2010 at 3:56 PM

Typial LIBjab. Nice how they lumped Palin and Beck in with Jihad Jane.

Western_Civ on December 20, 2010 at 4:07 PM

JibJab is taking this Year in Review from Obama’s perspective. If you think Obama is unfairly blamed you’ll see it that way. I see the entire thing as Obama being an endless whiner.

BKennedy on December 20, 2010 at 5:33 PM

Hey – anyone notice when they stopped using stop-motion animation of photos and started using puppets? The puppet they made for Plugs Biden looks more like Bill Clinton. I liked their old way better.

kscheuller on December 20, 2010 at 5:34 PM

Geeez people,

“Why so serious, son?”

Merry Christmas, hug you kids, dress up your dog, tell your spouse you’ll do better. Tomorrow you get the opportunity to give it another shot.

I see them as lampooning that HE thinks he deserves more credit.

Bob's Kid on December 20, 2010 at 8:27 PM

Very interesting. I went ahead and looked back at some of their other end-o-year vids.

Not much bi-partisan slamming in this one. I’m guessing that the JibJabbers are showing some of the symptoms of Obama regret syndrome.

Bob’s Kid on December 20, 2010 at 8:27 PM

Spot on there. I clicked play expecting them to be very to somewhat friendly to Obama, I saw just the opposite.

Before anyone accuses me of projecting, I’ll note negative references to Repub players was minimal at best, and they had so many opportunities to cover for Obama and didn’t. . . Boehner cryin’, CoD, Rubio the assassin (ok that’s me projecting Rubio as a POLITICAL assassin).

There was really no bashing our side, not what I expected.

hillbillyjim on December 20, 2010 at 11:54 PM

Pretty fair compared with the Bush ones, maybe a little more sympathetic to Obama than Bush. They did point out very cautiously in the Obama inauguration version that he was lying about tackling debt when he first got into office, at a time when nobody in media dared criticized him. As for this one, Biden stole the show being more of a goon than Obama even. I guess that’s a true to life caricaturization.
