Quotes of the day

posted at 10:40 pm on December 20, 2010 by Allahpundit

“Advocates are advising military gays to stay in the closet for now, as the Pentagon begins months of scene-setting to make sure removing the ban does not hurt combat readiness.

“Once President Obama signs the gay-ban repeal, passed by Congress last week, it will trigger a new phase that will see the Pentagon dictate to commanders how to prepare troops for the historic social change…

“‘The bottom line, for now, gay, lesbian and bisexual service members must remain cautiously closeted,’ said Trevor Thomas, spokesman for Servicemembers Legal Defense Network, a leader in the campaign to end the ban. ‘Even with this historic vote, service members must continue to serve in silence until repeal is final.’”

***
“As gay people around the country reveled on Sunday in the historic Senate vote to repeal ‘don’t ask, don’t tell,’ a liberal media watchdog group said it planned to announce on Monday that it was setting up a “communications war room for gay equality” in an effort to win the movement’s next and biggest battle: for a right to same-sex marriage.

“The new group, Equality Matters, grew out of Media Matters, an organization backed by wealthy liberal donors — including prominent gay philanthropists — that has staked its claim in Washington punditry with aggressive attacks on Fox News and conservative commentators like Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck…

“For the gay rights movement, the right to marry is the holy grail, because so many other benefits — including Social Security and health benefits for gay partners, adoption rights, tax benefits and others — flow from it…

“I think the lesson we have learned over the last two years is that you’ve got to be tough,’ Mr. Mixner said, ‘and you’ve got to keep people’s feet to the fire.’”

***
Polls show the public is broadly supportive of equal rights for gay men and lesbians on several issues — with the exception of the right to marry. The vast majority of Americans, nearly 90 percent, favor equality of opportunity in the workplace. More than 60 percent favored overturning ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ — a figure that has stood steady at least since 2005, according to the Gallup Organization, which tracks public sentiment on gay rights…

“‘There have been enormous and important shifts in public attitudes, and those are a hopeful sign,’ said Tobias B. Wolff, a law professor at the University of Pennsylvania who advises the Obama White House on gay rights issues. But Mr. Wolff speaks of a ‘political gay panic,’ saying, ‘Even when the public is so strongly behind equality, so strongly behind the right thing, politicians are hyper-cautious.’…

“Conservatives are dismayed.

“‘The other side is winning the war on words and the rhetoric,’ said Tom McClusky, senior vice president of Family Research Council Action, the legislative arm of the conservative advocacy group. ‘Generationally, this is an uphill battle for us, and we realize that.’”

***
“As President Obama and his speechwriters prepare for his upcoming State of the Union address, here’s a modest suggestion:

“When you take the victory lap you are entitled to for ending the prohibition on gays serving openly in the military, follow up with a call to end the remaining discrimination faced by members of our military—the second-class status of Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) cadets on some of our leading college campuses…

“Jimmy LaSalvia, executive director of the gay conservative organization GOProud, puts it this way: ‘Throughout the debate over Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, advocates of repeal like President Obama often and rightfully pointed out that repeal was in the best interest of our military and our national security. If President Obama and liberals in Congress are serious about a commitment to ending policies that damage our military, now is the time for them to ensure that ROTC is welcomed back to campus—and that its cadets enjoy all the rights and privileges of any other student organization.’”

Here’s a great example of what the gay and lesbian community and the Democrats who support and endorse them think.

Actually, many in the gentrifying neighborhood aren’t exactly thrilled about naked guys being outside where children can see. But some don’t have any problem at all. Take Supervisor Bevan Dufty, who has sat in the plaza with his 4-year-old daughter on days when the nudists are out.

“She’s fascinated by penises so she kind of pointed out there are penises and I said, yep, they are right there,” Dufty says. “I said they like to have people pay attention to them and are very comfortable being naked.”

Seriously. This guy is taking his four-year-old daughter out to show her mens’ penises and bragging about how she’s “fascinated” by them. And he has the full endorsement of the Democratic Central Committee of San Francisco, the California Democratic Party, and the national Democratic Party.

Granted, we’ve already seen them dressing toddlers as sexual slaves and taking them to a sex fair to “show off” for naked and masturbating adults, but this really makes the trend more obvious.

And of course, why were these nudists out there?

“The social goal is to disarm the prudish people — make them move away or cure them of their neuroses,” Mills says.

That’s right, people. According to Barack Obama and the Obama Party, if you are against naked men walking around in public showing off their privates to children, you are a “prude” and need to be either forced out of your neighborhood or “cured” of your “neuroses”.

The Democratic decision to repeal DADT was (as was the so-far foiled DREAM Act) entirely politically motivated-weakening the country in favor of throwing bones to their constituents. According to VNS exit polls most Republican presidential candidates get only high teen to low twenties percentages of the so-called “gay” votes with Bush 2 topping out at 25% Although hard figures are not in for the last election, Obama’s percentages were surely well into the 80′s-perhaps approaching the 90′s.

To get votes (and maintain power) the Democrats will destroy their own country’s borders, military, economy, weaponry, infrastructure, medical care and even language.

If the Romans understood the importance of man woman marriage 2000 years ago, why can’t we?
Are we so vain as to think we’ve evolved past basic societal needs and morals?

Were the Roman’s expectations of marriage likely to be met? The foremost function of marriage, the production of children, was likely to be met by most marriages. Having those children survive and succeed you as heirs or to look after you in old age was another matter. Cornelia bore twelve children of whom only three survived. In an age of high mortality, in which both childbirth and military campaigns were a factor, it could be difficult to establish a lasting partnership, the ideal Roman marriage of one partner for life. It is recorded on the tombstones of the long dead that indeed these marriages did exist, and even if it is but a literary cliche, it is still a testament of their devotion to one another.

“Pythion son of Hicesius set up this common memorial to himself and to his wife Epicydilla daughter of Epicydes. He was married at eighteen and she at fifteen, and for fifty years of life together they shared agreement unbroken…”

Brethren, even if anyone is caught in any trespass, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; each one looking to yourself, so that you too will not be tempted. Bear one another’s burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of Christ. For if anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. But each one must examine his own work, and then he will have reason for boasting in regard to himself alone, and not in regard to another. For each one will bear his own load. The one who is taught the word is to share all good things with the one who teaches him.

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary. So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith.

Galatians 6:1-10

Our military (and by extension our nation) has suffered a great moral harm. Whether you look at God’s standards in the Old Testament or the New Testament, His position on homosexual behavior is clear. It is a grave sin indicative of deep rebellion against Him. This isn’t what HeckOnWheels decrees; it’s what God decrees.

Personally I’d take a much more live-and-let-live approach if it were up to me, but it’s not up to me because I’m not God. I’m simply repeating what God has communicated about His standards, without any special malice of my own toward homosexuals. It’s kind of like a spiritual version of trying to warn a 5-pack-a-day smoker that he’s going to suffer very painful consequences unless he stops. There’s nothing inherently hateful in telling him the truth. As quoted above, God is not mocked. All people who sin, and especially those who commit sins that carried the death penalty in the Mosaic Law, will eventually experience either commensurate justice or unearned mercy. The OT laws were not entirely abrogated; many of the rituals and dietary restrictions are no longer mandatory, but the moral requirements have been raised. Our new national policy of calling homosexual behavior “good” or “neutral” or anything other than an abomination cannot end well for individual homosexuals or for America.

I’d also like to state unequivocally that actual haters of homosexuals are themselves guilty of grave sin. Fred Phelps had best get his hateful little cult straightened out right quick, or he’s in for an extremely unpleasant eternity.

The proper Christian attitude toward any sin combines calling it as best you see it, refusing to compromise unless compelled by Scripture, while maintaining a peaceful and loving heart. Of course we’re all sinners, so none of us is going to live up to that standard perfectly (me least of all). I’ll continue to point out that this decision is folly, and I will oppose it forever, while at the same time trying my best to remain respectful toward my fellow humans. We’re all created in the image of God, so we must respect each other and respect God. I will not emphasize the former in the name of “tolerance” when it would require me to ignore the latter. When this policy causes the inevitable major problems we’ve predicted, I hope the homosexual activists are all rational enough to reverse course.

Incidentally, if someone wants to try the “Jesus never condemned homosexual behavior” argument, I suggest you think better of it because Jesus was not pro-gay.

Hmmm. I think WordPress put my comment in moderation because of all the links. Drat.

Some help, please, Ed/Allah?

HeckOnWheels on December 21, 2010 at 1:34 AM

Why are we trying to put homosexuals into combat positions? Do I even what to know what a ‘homosexual combat position’ involves? And who brings the lotion? Does the taxpayer have to pony up for that as well?

It all seems rather… sticky.

In so many, many ways; and none of them good!

The FCC is going FORWARD with this plan as we speak.

Spathi on December 20, 2010 at 11:12 PM

The Senate already warned them strongly that it ain’t gonna happen. EPA backed way off, yet still the FCC does the suicide run.

We can’t see it tonight. Big winter storm over the islands, which California calls a Pineapple express for some reason.

You’re up early, or late. Stay warm!

“For the gay rights movement, the right to marry is the holy grail, because so many other benefits — including Social Security and health benefits for gay partners, adoption rights, tax benefits and others — flow from it… the gay community is petty and vindictive and just want to take a tradition away from Christians.

Actually, here on the Big Island, it’s been fairly calm, as apposed to the other islands.

I’ve been amusing myself with these quizzes.

Oookay, let’s review….

The US is a corrupt nationalistic entity.

So are all other nations who insist on their own sovereignty.

Obviously, the only solution is a world government, like, uh, the United Nations.

Christians and Jews are the Devil we don’t believe in because of their religion.

Muslims are superior to the West because of their religion.

Intelligent People everywhere realize that homosexuality is the sign of a highly evolved society.

To sum up, we believe in World Government, the Ascendance of Islam, and Homosexuality.

So……uuuhhh…..

What do do about this?

teehee…
