Video: And now, an important message from Harry Reid about an awesome college football game that he saw

posted at 9:12 pm on November 29, 2010 by Allahpundit

Via Mediaite, five minutes of your tax dollars at work. Actually, it’s a nice transition from the Thanksgiving holiday: If you’ve never been trapped at the dinner table on turkey day next to an especially dull, talkative relative and had them bore you into a stupor, just wait. You’re about to get the full experience. In fact, by the fifth minute, I was enjoying it as a type of congressional performance art. No one would think to spend this much time rambling about a football game on the floor of Senate … unless he was trying to be purposely transgressive. Harry Reid, part-time majority leader, full-time avant garde artist.

I want you to bear the following thought in mind as you watch: We just lost an election to this guy. And it wasn’t really all that close.

Hey, I’m good. The more time he talks about football the less time he has to pass his agenda. In fact, I’d encourage him to discuss everything interesting he’s seen on television.

Can we call this congress the Lame Brain Congress? or Maybe the Lame-Brained, Lame-Duck, Congress.

For the next 6 years, we can expect more of this leadership.
If you could call it leadership.

I personally think that this is a sign that Harry’s and Nancy’s lame duck Congress ain’t going anywhere or passing any more of their loathesome legislation!
Fingers crossed.

Heck, for all we know, he could be flaunting the 21st Amendment as well. Someone’s gotta pick up Kennedy’s slack.

Yes, I believe that little message preceded the vote on Big Ag’s S510. I suppose the corporatist filth Reid just wanted to lighten the mood a bit before the fascists in CONgress spent another $1 billion taxpayer dollars to hire 17,000 more FDA bureaucrats to keep us safe control our lives, drive up the cost of food, and finally kill off the family farm (since the death tax didn’t quite do the job).

The best thing about Harry Reid getting re-elected…It makes the fact that Al Franken is one of my Senators just a bit less painful.

Al Franken. Why not Jennean Garafalo??? Same thing.

I really love the way the pudgy little pri$k is keeping his head down. He went from unhinged, outspoken lefttard blowhard, to dignified (snicker), low key…Obama/Liberal lickspittle. We don’t hear a damn thing about him here anymore….but I expect that’ll change come election time.

BigWyo on November 29, 2010 at 9:56 PM

Not only was this a total waste of time. . . IT WAS A PREPARED STATEMENT. . . probably written by a staffer or at least researched and fact checked.

Notice too, that he’s memorized parts of it. . . more wasted time, effort, resources.

What is going on here? Why the filibuster?

All across America, payroll companies are recalculating their withholding rates for when President Bush’s tax cuts expire in January, and everyone is going to feel the pain for real…

… Remember this speech, and the inaction of our elected political elite to look out for us in the middle of a recession.

Thanks again, Nevada…

Seven Percent Solution on November 29, 2010 at 10:23 PM

Hey Harry, why don’t you do something real constructive, like extend the tax cuts for EVERYONE.

Rovin on November 29, 2010 at 10:32 PM

If Reid wants to waste the Senate’s time for the next month it’s fine with me. This would be a great time to debate a national college football playoff.

Why are you blaming the primary voters? Why not be thanking the Nevada voters and places like Harrah’s that were busing voters to the polls at the request command of the Harry Ried campaign?

AZfederalist on November 29, 2010 at 11:00 PM

Only thing Reid ever talked about that I cared about.

Poor BSU, now you have Reid gloating over your loss, a man who’s a failure at everything except getting himself reelected.

frankj on November 29, 2010 at 11:41 PM

We should scour the message… it probably has a hidden message for the liberal minions telling them where and when to strike next.

There really does seem to be a lack of focus doesn’t there? Football? Increase food prices to exert more control over people? Harry isn’t really very good at the “look there’s a puppy” thing.

We’re starting pools here as to whether he’ll live out his term. Harry descends into twilight.

Mojave Mark on November 30, 2010 at 12:18 AM

“What I did on my Thanksgiving recess.”

He didn’t win the election. The unions and his gambling cronies did. He reminds me of Bobby Byrd and Strom Thurmond just prior to their deaths.

The tea party movement needs to learn more about vetting candidates and organizing to get out the vote. This kind of opportunity may not come again.

Reid is paid $193,400/yr + Benefits (as of 2006) as Senate Majority Leader. Of course we all know Harry Reid makes more, much more!! Reid’s football rant took 5:04 of Senate time.

Dollayo on November 30, 2010 at 4:56 AM

U.S. Constitution Article 1, Section 5, paragraph 3: “Each House shall keep a Journal of its Proceedings, and from time to time publish the same, excepting such Parts as may in their Judgment require Secrecy…”

I recommend the Senate decide this requires secrecy and should not be published. The dignity of the entire Senate would be compromised if this goes into a journal and people can still read it two hundred years from now.
