Jon Stewart to media: Hey, how about laying off Palin’s kids?

posted at 6:42 pm on November 18, 2010 by Allahpundit

Roger Ailes calls him “crazy” but he sounds reasonably sane here. (Especially for “sort of an atheist.”) Is there any better proof of how stupid the hyperventilating over Bristol and “Dancing With the Stars” has been than “The Daily Show” feeling obliged to open the program with a defense of the Palins? Even if it is basically just a lead-in to a segment goofing on her new show? This is like flipping over to Maddow’s program and being greeted with the segment, “Maybe we’re being too hard on Jim DeMint.”

You guys realize that if Bristol wins the DWTS finals, we may well see a full-blown media nervous breakdown, right? Reason enough to hope it happens.

HondaV65 on November 18, 2010 at 6:51 PM

“Kids are off limits.”

Nice sentiment but for the left* only Baracks kids can fall under this category.

For Bristol, its not so much that the judges are right as they are *but for the left.

Jon chided Rachel Maddow about “teabaggers”

That interview was something. Maddow’s expression went from surprise to anger and then quickly to self control. Not quickly enough though to cover the surprise and anger though.

You guys realize that if Bristol wins the DWTS finals, we may well see a full-blown media nervous breakdown, right?

Yeah, not only the media … the entire left will meltdown. Unfortunately that probably means Mom will have to hire additional security for Bristol.

I saw Palin in Norfolk Va and she had dudes watching everything. She even had two guys on stage eyeballing everyone. I found out later there had been deaths threats.

darwin on November 18, 2010 at 7:01 PM

No mater the reason/motive, this is a classy move for Jon to make. The kids are off limits and the discussions should be limited to the issues rather than the politics of personal assassination. When the media wipes and or politicians waiver off coarse from the issues, everybody should stop right there and demand that the discussion not head into the gutter, must stay on coarse. Emotions led us to the debacle we find ourselves in, must remove emotions and stick to the issues.

Keemo on November 18, 2010 at 7:01 PM

Meh, he’ll be back to his usual thinly veiled uber-leftist self soon enough. I’d be surprised if he defended Rush Limbaugh or something. Pointing out that picking on kids is lame is a pretty low-hanging fruit overall. No need to pat him on the back too hard.

I have to disagree with Mr. Liebowitz on this one, partly.

Attacking Willow, a 16 year old, for a FB post is outrageous. If a member of the MSM did this to an Obama kid they’d not only be fired, their career would be over. So kudos to Jon for this.

But for Bristol, she’s an adult and she brought this on to herself. I realize she has no control over who votes for her. But she went on the show. And she had to know that no matter what she did on that show, good or bad, the jackals in the MSM would be all over her. So in that aspect I don’t see this as a “kids are off limits”. I see it more as a “you’re in the kitchen, don’t complain when it gets hot”.

Jon Stewart may be a socialist, but he’s not an idiot. He can see what’s happening in the country. His anti-Bush, pro-Obama bit worked when HopeNChange fever was gripping the country and Bush was at 30% approval. Because the war with Progressives is going on in all parts of our culture.

It’s going on with Cody Alicea in Denair, California who wanted to ride his bike with a flag on it to a public school.

It’s going on with TSA feelers wantin to touch our “junk”.

It’s going on with Marijuana legalization votes.

It’s going on in City Councils with “GREEN” ordinances that ban garbage disposals.

It’s going on with Churches preaching “Social Justice”.

It baffles me when conservatives constantly pay any attention to Stewart, Colbert, Olbermann, Maddow, and Sgt. Schultz (heck anything on PMSNBC). They are clowns. Why is what they say important enough to talk about all the time? Not a week goes by when Allahpundit isn’t happily posting about these people. I mean, I can see posting about them when they get REALLY over the top on something, but posting on them every other day? Sheese.

Mae on November 18, 2010 at 7:45 PM

I think the guys over at hillbuzz are right. the left has been using Alinsky tactics so long they have no idea what to do when they are used against them.

the left is used to printing a story like they did about willow and the right going oh how terrible we are so sorry….blah blah blah. the left is not used to people like Willow telling them instead of “I’m sorry” to “STFU”. the left’s over the top treatment of conservatives in 2008, 2009, and now 2010 has placed some backbone in the right. I hope its enough.

I think John is seeing that. I think he sees that pushing conservatives around is no longer paying off and they need to rethink. He sees that a large % of conservatives are not goign to take it anymore.

Stewie is not suddenly sane, don’t miss the first link re his meeting with Ailes. An excerpt: “He openly admits he’s sort of an atheist and a socialist. He once told me he would’ve voted for Norman Thomas.”

If he’s moderating his position, it’s only because he realizes that the democratics have gone too far too fast and as a result put thirty years of socialist ‘progress’ in jeopardy.

You know, I went to the Enquirer’s site, (and then immediately washed my hands) and they have the stones to print their dumb story about “Willow Palin’s pregnancy scare”, using an “un-named source” (what a surprise) that claims Willow was a week late and Sarah Palin was freaking out about it. Uh, since when does ANY publication get to make stuff up and print it about a 16 year old?! And where do they get off calling some (probably) nasty little classmate of Willow’s “a source”? This is every shade of wrong.

Yeah the thing is, it seems like you guys are actually the ones freaking out about it. Check out the posts below. No one else in the real world cares that much, except for some bipolar dude in Wisconsin.

For my fellow Tea Partiers – we’ve already been accused and convicted by the Lame Stream of rigging this thing. What do we have to lose now?

LET’S SHOW THEM THE POWER OF A FULLY ARMED AND OPERATIONAL TEA PARTY!!

VOTE BRISTOL – AS MANY TIMES AS ABC OR WHOEVER WILL LET YOU.

Pretend you are Harry Reid and pull all the stops! We need votes in the box so dammit – make it happen!

The reason to care about the finals of the DWTS?

Because the war with Progressives is going on in all parts of our culture.

It’s going on with Cody Alicea in Denair, California who wanted to ride his bike with a flag on it to a public school.

It’s going on with TSA feelers wantin to touch our “junk”.

It’s going on with Marijuana legalization votes.

It’s going on in City Councils with “GREEN” ordinances that ban garbage disposals.

It’s going on with Churches preaching “Social Justice”.

DWTS……is just another front in the WAR FOR OUR NATION.

FIGHT……VOTE…….TEXT next Monday night!!!.

I think the GOP congress should place a law on the floor that would MANDATe every American citzen to buy 2 guns per year and 3 cartoons of cigs Malboro. To show america how absurb Obamacare’s mandate is and the absolute power it gives the Federal government.

the GOP could call it the Self Annual Defense and Corproate Reinvestment Allocation PLan. (SAD CRAP)

Sign me up! The image just makes me smile.

We shall fight them online, on usenet, from blogs, on twitter, on letters to the editor, and even on Dancing With The Stars. We shall never surrender. And if American freedom lasts for 1000 years, they will say “This was their finest hour.”

Are you kidding? I can find more tight-assed stuff in the comments section of whatever New York Times story. “Bristol Palin is just a manifestation of her goofy, fiercely ignorant Mama Grizzly, who in turn is just a tool of the evil GOP-corporatist-military/industrial complex…”

ddrintn on November 18, 2010 at 8:10 PM

Let’s just all agree to call this entire congress the ‘sad crap’ congress.

I noticed you left out the part of my post about taking your money and forcing you into a health care system you didn’t want. I guess that was more convenient for you.
