Wonderful: Geraldo now keeping an open mind about 9/11 truth

posted at 8:49 pm on November 15, 2010 by Allahpundit

In case you missed it, here’s what Fox News was cooking up for viewers in primetime on Saturday night. The Screw Loose Change guys, who’ve spent years debunking Truther insanity, watched it and declared that Al Capone’s vault is now a highlight of Geraldo’s career by comparison.

If you’re curious about the physics of WTC7′s collapse, I recommend this brief but insightful 2007 analysis from Structure Magazine or Popular Mechanics’s piece on the NIST report released in 2008. If you’re not curious about the physics and would rather think critically about the alleged conspiracy, here’s a fun place to start: Why, oh why, oh why would the nefarious neocon junta that’s supposedly responsible for the 9/11 attacks have bothered with Building 7 in the first place? Never mind the huge number of government operatives they would have needed to plant explosives in the various buildings damaged or destroyed that day, or the fact that somehow not a single one of them has leaked anything about the plot more than nine years later despite that information being worth untold millions. Just ask yourself: If they were going to bring down the Towers as a pretext for war in the Middle East, why the hell would they have brought down Building 7 too? The structure’s collapse adds nothing to the already severe trauma of the day, and taking the time and effort to plant explosives would only increase the odds of detection. It would have been a wholly needless risk. And if, for whatever insane reason, the goal was to take down the Towers plus some other random building, why was Building Seven chosen instead of the far more iconic World Financial Center right next door?

These are the sort of questions that would occur to a perceptive fourth-grader, yet somehow they go unasked on this otherwise tough-minded investigative show. Go figure.

V-rod on November 15, 2010 at 8:52 PM

It’s already been buried…steel termites, they have been eating at the structure for years and it had to be destroyed.
An experiment by the Pentagon and military gone bad, which is why the Pentagon was attacked in the exact place where those files were stored.
The steel termites were going to be spread all over the world, eating at tanks, ships, planes, and in a decade our enemies military would be severely weakened from the inside by these insects. They got loose, and the WTC had to be taken down, along with the papers in the Pentagon.
Mutant termites, designed to destroy steel is what actually caused 9/11.

Geraldo is worse than Olberman, at least bathtub boy is honest in his moonbattery.

Rebar on November 15, 2010 at 8:55 PM

Can it be coincidence that the cities targeted – New York and Washington – were the business locations of Bill and Hillary Clinton?

Was 9/11 really just revenge for electing Bush instead of Gore?

Hmmm, Saran Wrap doesn’t seem to work as well as tin foil.

I’ve always found it difficult to believe that a “seasoned journalist” like Geraldo would “accidentally” give away details of a U.S. combat operation on live T.V.

I mean, I’m not saying that he wanted to see those U.S. troops dead or captured. But I’m willing to keep an open mind about it. I’m only asking questions. I’m just not comfortable with the official story.

Additional questions:

-Why use SAUDI ARABS as a pretext for invading Afghanistan (Pashtuns) and Iraq (secular country!!)

-Why did “we” “plan” 9/11 so airtight, and yet so bugles afganistan and te wtc?

-Does nobody work in building 7? If it was wired to blow up that would take MONTHS. no one kn the whole building stayed late one night and caught the bomb team?

-Bomb sniffing DOGS went all over the etc complex pre 911 (as the ’93 bombing happened). DID THE DOGS LIE TOO??

-If bush killed anyone that questioned, WHY ARE THE TRUTHERS STILL ALIVE?

A tangential but related note, we were reminded it is human nature for some factions to have a propensity to embrace conspiracy theories when we re-watched “The Best Years of Our Lives” Saturday night. I had last watched it probably sometime in the 90′s so this was the first post 9/11 viewing. There’s a scene where a guy tells one of the returning WWII vets he admired his bravery but then says he has to wonder what was it for. “You’ve been lied to” he informs him, we did not go to war for the reasons he thinks. His buddy, also a vet, clocks the jerk.

Allahpundit on November 15, 2010 at 9:13 PM

I heard that one excuse for building 7 was that is where all the evidence on how bad Enron, Worldcom and Hallaburton and if that info was found out Cheney would have nothing to do but go to jail. That was awile ago so like on conspiracies it most likely changed on why.

I was going to do a /truth but I was not in the mood. It is hard to sarcastic on a topic when someone is so dumb to still take that topic dead serious.

do you recall when Geraldo got kicked out of Iraq in APR 2003 for giving away the positions of 101st Airborne elements? He’s known for sticking his nose where it does not belong. Suffice it to say, he and his video crew videotaped things they should not have video’d and were asked to not do that, yet they did anyway.

ted c on November 15, 2010 at 9:18 PM

Why take out WTC7 but leave the Empire State Building? Surely that would register more strongly in the conscious of Americans. It’s far, far more iconic.

The Bush Administration couldn’t even waterboard terrorists without it being leaked. But super-secret ninja agents planted explosives on every floor of the World Trade Center, set up the whole planes flying into buildings thing, and got the media in on it all. Without anyone saying a thing.

Furthermore, why not go the full distance and plant WMDs in Iraq? Bush would have looked like a genius and then he could turn around and say, “Hey, my same intelligence sources say Saudi Arabia, which has far more oil, also has WMDs that we can’t allow.”

And, as has been asked before, if they were so brilliant and evil that they pulled of the biggest hoax ever in 9/11, why didn’t the evil bastards just plant some WMD’s in Iraq and avoid all the questions about the war?

Ampersand on November 15, 2010 at 9:21 PM

Truthers like to say that Flight 93 was shot down by the government which explains why it crashed into a field. Yet, at the same time, they say that Cheney ordered jet interceptors to stand down which explains why the towers got hit.

David2.0 on November 15, 2010 at 9:43 PM

WTC 7 was indeed an inside job and now, thanks to Geraldo’s superb investigative reporting the truth can finally be revealed. Three Bush agents, whom everyone (except Geraldo) thought were dead, Jimmy Hoffa, Elvis Presley and James Dean, dressed as Arab terrorists ,actually commandeered the three planes which hit both WTC towers and the Pentagon.

Just in case Presley, Dean and Hoffa failed in their missions, Bush bribed NY Mayor Giuliani to have engineers put explosive devices in ALL WTC buildings and would have gotten away with it too had not renowned structural engineer and keen intellect, Rosie O’Donnell not noted that there were anomalies in the destruction (at least) of WTC 7. The destruction is all other buildings was so extensive that there was no evidence that the suicide bombers had “inside help.”

Geraldo also discovered that Bush committed these crimes not only to discredit the peace-loving Osama Bin Laden but to declare war on innocent, peace-loving Muslims who had nothing whatsoever to do with any terrorist attack anywhere in the world. Evah!!!

Bush had given the order to shoot down any plane out of flight pattern, and 93 was one of them in sight. He doesn’t state it, but I doubt it was going to be in the air much longer…and that would have destroyed most any CINC, to have a civilian plane shot down by our military.

I’m beginning to think Geraldo is the one actually behind the Trade Center bombings. It has to be him. He’s orchestrated this whole thing so masterfully. And now, there he sits on Fox drawing attention away from himself and towards others. Don’t you find that strange?

Look at the contacts this guy has. Is it just a coincidence that he started working at Fox right after 9/11? He even took a pay cut to do it! How odd is that? Then, he’s over in Afghanistan drawing a map of our operations in the sand, showing the enemy where our troops are and what they are doing on live TV! Remember that one?
Why would he take a pay cut to join Fox right after 9/11?
And didn’t he do something for 20/20 at one time? If not, doesn’t he know Diane Sawyer? Wasn’t she the one with 20/20 that blew up,.. I said, blew up that pick up truck on TV and lied about it! They said it was an exploding gas tank but 20/20 set explosives under the truck and blew the truck up themselves!
Diane Sawyer stood up for Geraldo once on live TV to protest him being punished for something. Do you guys remember that? They have a connection.
There are so many links here it’s unreal. He takes a paycut and joins Fox right after 9/11 (like he knew something was going to happen ahead of time and wanted in on the action) and then he knows Diane Sawyer who has knowledge of explosives and then he’s over their drawing maps in the sand reviewing our plans to the enemy! This is just to weird!

Gang-of-One on November 15, 2010 at 10:24 PM

And is Geraldo also taking anti dimentia meds, and wearing depends now? Good God this man is scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Me thinks he’s a tad jealous of some *cough Beck cough*.

Perhaps his thinking is, he can garner the ratings Beck does, by being the anti-Beck?

capejasmine on November 15, 2010 at 10:24 PM

As long as you don’t open your mind so much that your brains fall out.

annoyinglittletwerp on November 15, 2010 at 10:17 PM

-.- Somehow, I expected that line.

Dark-Star on November 15, 2010 at 10:22 PM

I liked it.

Go figger.

hillbillyjim on November 15, 2010 at 10:24 PM

You missed the whole point of my post, which was to show the ludicrous inconsistency of the truthers’ arguments.

keep the change on November 15, 2010 at 10:15 PM

I did miss your point…a point well taken.
But what happens with the trooothers is that they take so many sides that when you destroy one “fact” they just bring up another.
The same thing with “birthers”, or people who don’t believe we went to the moon. They create so many “angles” that they always have one in their pocket…oh yeah, well how about xxxxx, yeah but then how about xxxxx.

canopfor on November 15, 2010 at 10:34 PM

Just so I understand it….

in the most airtight mission in the history of mankind, we manage to rig WTC with enough explosives to bring them down.

then using the pretext of WMDs to go to war with Iraq, we actually forget to “plant” massive amounts of WMDs to tie off that loose end.

hmmmm

Neo-con Artist on November 15, 2010 at 10:34 PM

I’d like to hold him down and rip his c@ck brush off

all one needs to see is one of the many shows on building demolishion

one will notice bearing columns with numerous cutout, primer cord strung about to numerous charges on all floors along with other preparations that are required to level buildings not nearly as large

there is no inconspicuous way of accomplishing what Jerry and other morons claim

he deserves paralysis

Sonosam on November 15, 2010 at 10:36 PM

Jerry needs a Caterpillar to pull his head out of his a$$!

His 15 minutes have already been used up a couple of times. It’s time Fox cut him loose to pasture.

Yeah, kind of like the guy at the window forgetting the french fries…it happens.
Next time they will remember the WMD’s, the problem is, where did they leave them?

right2bright on November 15, 2010 at 10:48 PM

I spent months debating these tools on the LooseChange forums back in, oh, I dunno, like 2005 or 2006. I was a member of the JREF (James Randi Educational Foundation) brigades — we had a rollicking good time over there, but the crazy runs DEEP.

By far the saddest thing I saw was that they actually got an American Airlines Flight Attendant (who knew Betty Ong) to buy into their crap. What was odd was that she didn’t hesitate for a moment to think that the twin towers were brought down by “controlled demolition” (she bought it all — “free fall speed”, fire-can’t-melt-steel, blah, blah, blah) — BUT, when the conversation turned to *something she actually knew something about* (e.g., airline operations — the phone calls, the passenger lists, etc.) she administered a righteous debunking.

It never seemed to cross her mind that she was falling victim to the same thing with her belief in the fallacies about how the WTC collapsed — it meant nothing to her that the people who actually knew something about structural engineering thought Loose Change was a complete crock.

Dark-Star on November 15, 2010 at 10:22 PM

There is no ‘open mind’ when it comes to the events of 09/11/2001.
Islamo-terrorists were responsible for what happened. They were the only ones responsible.
To believe or question otherwise doesn’t make you ‘open-minded’…it makes you evil.

annoyinglittletwerp on November 15, 2010 at 10:51 PM

C’mon…….Geraldo (I,I,I,i, me,me,me,me)will do anything to be relevant. Just a putz publicity hound. Guess his viewers are down. When he’s on is the only time I turn off Fox……Except when I check in on Bathtub Boy to see if he has exploded yet.
