Murkowski: When Obama does well, that means the country’s doing well

posted at 7:54 pm on November 15, 2010 by Allahpundit

Is that right? Every last Obama legislative victory necessarily means that America’s welfare improves? This is Rush’s “I hope he fails” edict turned on its head, for which Murky will be roundly congratulated by liberals. I can’t wait until the GOP is in control of government again and that gets turned around on them. Social Security and Medicare reform: Because when Republicans do well, that means America does well.

She was back on the floor of the Senate for the first time in weeks today, incidentally. Biiiiig hugs:

The Alaska Republican told reporters that she got assurances she could keep the ranking member position during a meeting Monday with Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.)

“The conversation was very general and very friendly and very cordial and very assuring that you haven’t lost anything around here Lisa, in terms of your seniority or the respect of your colleagues,” Murkowski said…

Texas Sen. John Cornyn, the lead of the GOP campaign operations, congratulated her. Sens. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Kay Hagan (D-N.C.) walked off the floor with her to hear stories of some of the more unusual write-in votes, including people who substituted hearts for the dot on the letter ‘I’ in her last name. Sen. John Rockefeller (D-W.Va.) gave her a bear hug as she boarded the underground Senate subway.

Two clips for you, one of her talking about Obama and the other praising Mike Castle, just to rub a little salt in the tea-party wound. Not seen here: Murky dumping on Palin’s lack of “intellectual curiosity” and suggesting to Katie Couric that compromise might be possible with the left on energy policy, which of course she’ll be uniquely positioned to pursue thanks to the GOP’s refusal to strip her of her seniority. Great work again, guys. Click the image to watch.

Have you EVER made a non-troll post in your life?

Of course not. You LIVE to troll. You are the very definition of one. It’s people like you that stink the place up with your nonsensical nonsense. You are incapable, completely and TOTALLY incapable of having a real, reasoned conversation. All you do is talk nonsense.

You make losers like Proud Rino and crr6 look like scholarly debaters in comparison.

Miller had a resume that was sterling, but he rejected Palin’s expertise in her own backyard, and from what I’ve heard let Huckabee retreads run his campaign. The time he wouldn’t give Palin her props in answering the question on Fox as to whether she would make a good president tells me all I need to know about some bizarre gaps in his judgement and/or campaigning ability.

He looked great on paper, (except for his dirty-looking, outdated, miami-vice stubble) and completely blew it on the ground.

He should have won walking away. And it’s his fault that he didn’t. He could have spelled win as P-A-L-I-N.

This is why the toss out of Castle was a victory all in itself, you dont wont backstabbers to cover your back.

the_nile on November 16, 2010 at 4:58 AM

You must always give the devil his due.

Murkowski did what had never really been done before – win a write-in election for Senate. While Strom Thurmond had done the same, it was in a time when SC was a one-party state, and the public was mad at the party for their callous disrespect of a passed state hero.

What should the Senate Republicans do? They supported the nominee of the party, but he lost, and she won as a “Republican” write-in. There is no reason beyond pique that she might lose seniority. Her lifetime ACU score is 70, which puts her just under 3/4 conservative – but lately the raving idiots have declared Imhofe – with his lifetime ACU score of 98, tops among those with his time of service – a “RINO” so she shouldn’t rely on the record.

Face it, morons: your Tea Party candidate was an idiot who ran a completely stupid campaign, was only dragged across the primary finish line by Palin, and still managed to lose to a write-in candidate, badly. A guy who, instead of getting the silliness out in front and thus behind him, stonewalled his employment records which bore the terrible secret he had voted several times in an online poll from work computers, and covered his tracks.

Some genius you nominated there, Chuckles.

Murky thinks she won, but she better watch out. The new Night of the Long Knives is nigh . . .

Adjoran on November 16, 2010 at 7:01 AM

Relax guys….the demrats have 23 senate seats up (includes two indies) and the reps have 10. The Tea Party wave has just begun and I believe that in 2012 we will replace many of those dems and a few reps. Then MooCowskank will be one of the last progressive reps in place and will have to toe the Tea Party line or lose the limelight she so desperately craves.

All that waiting for Nov 2 when we deluded ourselves into thinking we could ‘take back the country’ and finally rid ourselves of SFNan, Dingy Harry and rinos, except that we didn’t. All the big players are still on the stage, lying, cheating and stealing from the country, and this Player is still preening and willing to be bought for a few dollars more. I expect another bridge to nowhere for the great state of AK is now in the works.

Kissmygrits on November 16, 2010 at 8:52 AM

Didn’t read the article and not going to but just on the face of it she has it backwards. Should be “When the county does well, Obama does well”.

That would be a true statement.

Her statement’s very naive, very shallow, and completely wrong.

I’m not that discouraged. The Lefties weren’t going to just lie down and take it, were they? That’s going to take a couple more years of being out of work, while they find out their old sociology prof had a second income from some guy named Ivan back in the day.

As for Scrotecowski, if I had more time to play, I’d troll the Alaska news site, and say naaaasty things about Democrats in the comments on Scrotey articles. After all, thiose Scrotey voters were good Republicans, and will laugh right alongside me right…?

Naw, what happened was that the Democrats threw the Democrat nominee overboard, joining with the Alaska machine to try and give Palin a loss. Scott McAdams got 23 percent. Democrats in TEXAS don’t get 23 percent without dead girls, live boys, and cattle being found in their bedrooms. McAdams was thrown under da’bus because voting against Palin was more important to Alaskan Democrats.

Yep, agree with you 100%.

Murkowski might have won this round but she is not sitting pretty for the forseeable future – and she knows it despite her preening and bravado. I hold on to my prediction that this will be her last term – she will most likely retire rather than go through all the drama of re-election again.

This is not widely known and I’m not sure if the pact is still operational, but the senators from Alaska and Hawaii have (had) an agreement that when legislation specifically effects one or both of their states, they will vote as one. A four-vote block in the Senate is nothing to sneeze at.

SukieTawdry on November 16, 2010 at 12:15 PM

Murkowski is an undeniably physically ugly woman with no principles beyond “Stay in Power”.

You are pure garbage, Murkowski. You are the epitome of what is wrong with our government.

Murkowski is Charlie Crist in drag. She’s worse than a RINO with a candidacy propelled by “sore loser” writ large and is the poster child for politicians with no character who believe they are entitled without question. But it pleases me that she’ll be around for 6 years to constantly remind me how feckless the Republican senatorial leadership was and maintaining her committee positions. Not one dime of mine will ever find its way into the coffers of NRSC.

Murkowski also criticized Palin for, among other things, not enjoying governing. Which immediately called to mind George Washington’s real FERVOR for serving. Remember how he was always begging for people to let him serve, and how he’d stop at nothing to make sure he was chosen?

hawksruleva on November 16, 2010 at 1:32 PM

Alaskans ABSOLUTELY deserve what they wrote in for because that took a LOT of EFFORT on those Alaskan voters part. Chang-Ching. I for one will NEVER let you forget it. You say you’re for change. You say you’re for less porkulus. You say you’re for smaller government. You say you’re for less entitlements. You say you’re for less “career” politicians who don’t listen to their constituency but do what THEY think is the right thing, screw their voters. You say all this stuff but you really don’t mean. You LOVE you some nanny staters. You LOVE being told what you should spend, eat, drink, and how to live your lives. You LOVE you some government control over every part of your lives. If you didn’t, you wouldn’t do these things.

So here’s what I have to say, “Quit your whining, complaining, get yourself and job and start paying for all these things your politicians think is good for you. Sit down STFU and just get to work. You government needs your stupidity and your money.”

Have a nice day, Alaskans! B’Bye…
