Bachmann: 111 waivers means ObamaCare is a failure
posted at 4:18 pm on November 15, 2010 by Ed Morrissey
Well, thank goodness House Republicans kept Michele Bachmann out of the leadership, because Bachmann says crazy things — like offering 111 waivers for ObamaCare indicates a big problem in the bill. Greg Hengler clips this portion of Bachmann’s speech at a rally in DC today protesting the bill and the waivers, which Jazz Shaw noted yesterday even includes groups that are dedicated to precisely the kind of “reforms” in ObamaCare. Note well, also, the other groups Bachmann mentions that get waivers from the White House, such as unions and universities. Aren’t these the same people who lectured us on the absolute moral imperative for ObamaCare? Seems like sacrifice is fine, as long as it’s limited to the hoi polloi:

JellyToast, you just beat me to the punch. Let’s let the House give a blanket exemption, and let Barry try to veto it. If nothing else, it will continue to highlight the hypocrisy involved…

So much for “equal protection under the law”. Just call in a favor and get a waiver.

I DON’T BUY DANISH.
I didn’t say Boehner as elitist! I said Ed is bordering into elitism per his own statement … i.e., the way he described Michelle!
The deprecation is uncalled for, IMHO. I believe that Ed is better than that!
And besides, I’m talking to the writer of the post, not you, Danish-lover!

Hey, did you all see Jeb Hensarling and the other “young metro guns” addressing the tea party rally today? They were great weren’t they? No wonder they have the leadership slots locked up.
Wait, what?!? they weren’t there? never mind

Your guy Hensarling is AWOL–hiding in the bunker with Romney, Cantor and McConnell, waiting for the ladies to sound the all clear.

Michele Bachmann is awesome!
She is right, that the healthcare bill is the mother of all boondoggles, it means rate hikes, cost hikes, and lay-offs, and so to protect his voter groups, Obama has given waivers to them.
Isn’t it funny that the politicians and the union thugs have a way out of the dreaded Obamacare, and the rest of us get to twist in the wind:
-long lines
-death panels (your own Krugman admitted to death panels)
-doctor exodus
-poor care
-waiting months and years for an MRI
(look at Canada and Great Britain and see their horrific versions of Obamacare)

Well then, you have now written 2 incoherent comments.
He’s not “my guy”, and your juvenile implication that he is a wussy coward hiding in the bushes is pathetic. Hensarling’s record is here. I challenge you to find anything in it that deserves criticism, but have at it. Please be specific.

How about his silence on this issue?

He is under no obligation to adopt Michele Bachman’s style – he’s more low key and there is nothing wrong with that. He is a strong opponent of ObamaCare and is committed to its repeal. I doubt that he was shocked in the least that 111 companies needed waivers, as it was entirely predictable.
I wish all of you would stop engaging in these unnecessary skirmishes, as they do nothing to unify conservatives and move the fiscal-agenda forward (although it is no doubt entertaining for the Dems to witness these silly attacks from within our own flanks).
