It’s come to this: Grief counselors meeting with Democrats over election; Update: Pelosi plans party to celebrate Congress’s “accomplishments”

posted at 6:10 pm on November 8, 2010 by Allahpundit

I don’t know what they’re so depressed about. With Nancy Pelosi back in charge, surely they’re only two years away from a new House majority.

A staffer for a congressional Democrat who came up short on Tuesday reports that a team of about five people stopped by their offices this morning to talk about payroll, benefits, writing a résumé, and so forth, with staffers who are now job hunting.

But one of the staffers was described as a “counselor” to help with the emotional aspect of the loss — and a section in the packet each staffer was given dealt with the stages of grief (for instance, Stage One being anger, and so on).

“It was like it was about death,” the staffer said. “It was bizarre.” The staffer did say the portions about the benefits and résumé writing were instructive.

Stage One isn’t anger, it’s denial. Anger is Stage Two. Which makes me think that maybe this is actually a covert way of trying to torpedo Pelosi’s bid for minority leader. (Her office says she wasn’t the one who sent the counselors.) The only conceivable psychological explanation for why House liberals would want to retain her is that they’re stuck in Stage One; if the counselors can move them to Stage Two, then, just possibly, the healing can begin. We’ll know they’re on the track to “wellness” when they dump her and we start seeing more enraged rants about the “white right” and their “temper tantrum” online.

Exit question: What’s next, grief counselors for stressed-out mafia bosses? Oops!

Update: Going to be a long, long time before they’re off Stage One:

Nancy Pelosi Speaker of the United States House of Representatives requests the pleasure of your company at a reception honoring the Accomplishments of the 111th Congress on Wednesday, the tenth day of November, two thousand ten at three thirty in the afternoon Cannon Caucus Room 345 Cannon House Office Building

Is Nancy Pelosi that hellbent for leather out to prove to the world, in no uncertain terms, that she is out of whatever is left of her pea-sized mind, or is she so wrapped up in her own hermetically sealed universe that she is officially completely out of touch with reality?

I seriously think this woman has some sort of mental disorder. I am convinced of it!

Yes, this sounds like the typical outplacement service. I’m sure the Congress we are paying a fortune to these consultants to guide these poor unfortunates to the next phase of their pampered lives. Hey, I can spare another thousand or two for the least of my brethren!

Just a guess: the consultants are Dem donors.

Grief Stage
One. Stage 1.001
Perpetual VICTIM of VRWC.
Two. Show up eat canapes as did Alvin Green, talk to press with mouthful.
Three. Announce you have to leave to clean up after dog.
Four. This is the best part, do not show up but send in secrete operative to film almost empty party room.Declare party a huge success and send MSM cropped pic of Glen Beck rally to prove a vast crowd had assembled for free food we bought with our tax dollars.
Five. Remind every one that this is a temporary set back the iceberg has passed. Rearrange deck chairs, pour drinks, cue band.

Ya know, that is a very poignant observation.
One which should rank right up there with assembling a team to perform an Intervention
(good title for a movie, btw- not like any other media out there presently)
on our crazy ass Executive branch.

Stage One isn’t anger, it’s denial. Anger is Stage Two.

Not if denial is your normal state.

The good news is that the party will be quick, not much to celebrate. I guess they can give someone a “perfect attendance award”.

I called Nancy’s office right after the stimulus was passed… since Shadegg didn’t vote for it I had to complain to someone…

They were absolutely rude, they were so condescending and asked if Rush had told everyone to call… I seldom listen to Rush and had actually got the number from their own ad asking to call and voice support!

It remains one of the most infuriating conversations I have ever had. The guy started asking me if I thought Obama was the anti-Christ and such… which is not even the same concept in my religion! It was terribly insulting.

These people should never be in charge of anything to do with governance. They should stick to art and making porn movies and disgusting song lyrics. Apparently they are quite talented in those areas.

I hope that guy is unemployed for a long long time.

Uhm, are our tax dollars going to be paying for this?
Or will Obamacare cover it?
Oh, that’s right: the politicians are exempt from Obamacare.
What a crock!
This is as stupid as that Post Election Selection Trauma, of 2004, bullcrap we heard about
