Video: As the polls open …
posted at 7:00 am on November 2, 2010 by Ed Morrissey
I was originally looking for a good sports clip to get us started — but this just seems more appropriate, somehow. Welcome to Accountability Day, where the American electorate passes judgment on their governing class. Every Election Day is a celebration, a reminder that no one rules us as long as those in power have to answer for their actions. And when they grow arrogant and stop listening, well …
Get out and vote. Take someone with you to the polling station. Call your friends and make sure they’re voting today. Release the Kraken.

Blowback

Just voted. There was a steady stream of people voting at my polling place, but no line. I voted straight Republican and for a couple of Libertarian Judicial candidates where no Republican was running.
The most distrubing thing I saw was the fact that there were a good 10 Judicial districts that had NO conservative candidate. This is how the Dems stay in power, and we need to address this problem!

Just voted here in the Peoples Republic of California. Not many there. It was just open though.

I have to work this morning. I want to wait until later this afternoon to vote. I am chomping at the bit! I am sooo glad 11/2 is finally here. I have my popcorn and slurpee ready for tonight! Woot woot! Up here in Niagara County, NY. Ready to go and kick those scum suckers out on their a$$!

I voted early this morning in my very Leftist small Missouri suburb. In 2008, the line at 7:00 a.m. was 200 people long and the mood was something like a tailgating party. This morning, same place, same time, two years later–no line, no waiting. Heh.

Ed’s got a new thread up on turnout. Head on over and let him know what you saw when you voted today.

I voted early.
I only wish that our government hadn’t already released the Kraken of destruction on America.

There aren’t any 7-Elevens here in Houston, so I found a Slurpee recipe online. I’m going to stop by the store on the way home from work to pick up the ingredients and some microwave popcorn.
Tonight is going to be epic!!

Heading out to vote now. We are all Perseus now!

Hubby and I voted…for a Constitutional candidate, for the first time ever. It was exhilarating! But I am reminded of this:

Voted a little over an hour ago on my way to work. State Farm building in Madison.
Told them my name. They flipped through a few pages, asked me if my address was the same, and started reaching for a ballot before I’d even answered. I offered them my license, which they barely glanced at, smiled, and directed me to the booth. Must be great to be an illegal alien in this state.
Republican all the way, yes on medical marijuana, no on 160 million in additional spending.

The one day it’s a good thing to tug on the elephant’s trunk…

Heh!
I voted two weeks ago with an absentee ballot. I went straight Republican and used the recommendations of the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association for all of the Initiatives on the ballot.
However, being here in California, I have the nagging wonder if my mail-in ballot will actually see the light of day. I suspect it may end up in the car trunk of some Democrat Precinct Worker.

Same here (Austin, TX). Are there really not qualified individuals who are interested in running for these county judge positions on the GOP side?
TexasDan on November 2, 2010 at 10:52 AM
Just returned from voting. I am happy to report that by days end we Pennsylvanians will have voted into office a Republican Senator and a Republican Governor. No more Benedict Arlen, no more Fast Eddie Rendell and Joe Sestak can take a ride in his rowboat on the Schuylkill River. Toomey is going to crush him.
When I walked into the polling place there was a gaggle of Democrats lurking about, ready to pounce on anyone who walked in the door. I made sure to wear my Navy Seal vest adorned with an American flag pin and an American Legion pin.
For some reason they had nothing to say to me. Didn’t even try to strike up a conversation. Those whiny crybabies just despise the military.
Taking back America begins today. Get out there and vote!

Texasdan, I’m in Austin too. Hopefully it’s just a local fluke.

Bravo, Capt. Ed! A great movie choice today! :)

In our township there were 230 absentee ballots requested, 214 voted. Mrs. 107mm was 251 and I was 246 by 9:30 this AM.
Now the Mrs. is on the way to take a lady in a bordering township and I get to take another couple from church to vote so catch you all later.

I just got back from canceling out my mom’s vote. Sorry, best I can do.

I voted by mail and checked online that my ballot was received and counted. It was.
I live in California so we’ll see what happens….

I voted absentee in WA State since I’m military. Received two phone calls in the last two days, one last night at 11PM, urging me to get my ballot in and vote Dino Rossi. Did I mention that they’re calling me in Maryland?? A good sign.

Never did the mail in thing, never trusted it. Here in Cali? Never. I voted to keep out the Old Bag and the Old Hag. (Brown and Boxer of course).

Reading this thread is warming my heart. Us liberty loving Canadians are supporting you in spirit – up here we may be surrounded by liberals but in the USA you guys are the majority and your voice should be heard!

Me and ten kids from my dorm who I managed to find out were conservative just voted straight Republican from the dorms of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. If only the hippies running the polling place knew…
Russ Feingold is done.
Nelsen on November 2, 2010 at 11:47 AM
That’s the problem. You’re in Austin. Here in Killeen we had some unopposed Republicans on the ballot. I voted for Perry and a Libertarian for Lt. Gov. I’m hoping a Libertarian Lt. Gov. will hold Perry’s feet to the fire if he strays off and goes RINO
mizflame98 on November 2, 2010 at 12:04 PM
Just voted in Omaha (NE-2) Go Big Red States!
P.S. You’re next to go Sen. Ben Nelson
JetBlast on November 2, 2010 at 12:23 PM
Voted at 10 in North Atlanta, I was the only one there but it’s a tiny voting location, total registered there is only like 500 or so.
Georgia is a runoff state so our close Governor’s election (Nathan Deal-R / Roy Barnes-D) is quite possibly headed for a runoff at the end of November. There’s a Libertarian spoiler.

It is a great day to be alive to witness the implosion of the Democratic Party.

What no Republican could do, not even President Bush in 8 years, President Obama did in just two. Completely destroy the Democrats.
Blue Collar Todd on November 2, 2010 at 1:17 PM
One place in CD 4 Tennessee had 150 early votes about 250 at 1330 hrs and expects no more than 500 out of 1500 possible. Light drizzle and gray sky’s,good day for a nap.No hustlers in sight at this school voting place, not one.

I live in Lubbock and, out here, the Libertarians run more candidates than the Democrats. Of course, the Republicans dominate. I _love_ West Texas. :) :) :)

All I can picture now is Nancy Pelosi’s head being pulled out of a bag and turning the Kraken into stone.
