Bachmann to Matthews: Hey, how’s that tingly thrill now?

posted at 11:20 pm on November 2, 2010 by Ed Morrissey

An amusing moment here at MN GOP HQ, where Michele Bachmann managed to get a little payback on Chris Matthews two years after he goaded her into a faux pas just before her last election. Matthews accused Bachmann of being in a “trance,” to which Bachmann replied by asking whether Matthews ever got rid of that thrill up his leg. Matthews answers with his usual graciousness:

The floor erupted in laughter after this exchange. So far, the mood here seems rather festive, even though Teresa Collett and Joel Demos have apparently lost their long-shot Congressional bids. The gubernatorial race saw the urban areas report first, but now we’re getting the suburbs and exurbs, and Tom Emmer is gaining rapidly. Erik Paulsen won MN-03 by a landslide.

ontherocks on November 3, 2010 at 12:17 AM

I don’t know why any Republican would go on MSNBC. They have been downright hostile this evening (which is normal for them), condescending, rude and unprofessional in their coverage. I know this isn’t a surprise. Would love to see Republicans “ban” together and refuse to go on.

There is a clear difference in the professionalism of Fox and MSNBC.

BruthaMan on November 3, 2010 at 12:17 AM

I actually flipped to MSNBC out of sheer morbid curiosity at the tail end of the Bachman interview. Matthews tried to explain the “tingle” comment to the panel. You should have seen Olbermann mug for the camera. He looked like he just ate a turd. Then they interviewed another Republican and Maddow started with some preposterous question. I think I lasted less than a minute.

4k78 on November 3, 2010 at 12:22 AM

landlines on November 3, 2010 at 2:10 AM

The question about her being hypnotized is so offensively unprofessional that Bachmann was speechless for about 3 seconds. Bachmann refused to take Matthews’s bait on investigations and Matthews (who was a bit cranky anyway) simply just went nasty on her. He was trying to “create news” by shocking her into saying something just as ridiculous. She kept her cool and, thus, won the exchange.

Matthews is pathetic.
