Perfect ending: NYT reports that House Dems spent more on TV ads than GOP did
posted at 10:13 pm on November 1, 2010 by Allahpundit
How could it be more perfect? They’ve spent the past month accusing the GOP in ways explicit and implicit of having bought the House via shadowy Rove-ian groups fueled by secret money from dirty, dirty foreigners. And meanwhile, in the most important advertising medium of all, they’ve actually outspent Republicans by almost $25 million. Even their painfully pathetic fifth-string GOTV pitch — Republican fatcats shelling out big money — is a fraud. Perfection.
Actually, I guess having Pelosi on the witness stand mumbling about a stolen container of strawberries would make it a little more perfect. But short of that — perfection.
The most recent numbers available, through Friday, showed that Democratic candidates and their allies spent $142 million on television advertising across all House races in the general election, compared with $119 million by Republican candidates and their backers. In the Senate, Republican candidates and their allies outspent Democrats, $159 million to $120 million…
The Democratic advantage on television spending in House races was something of a revelation, given all the attention that has been garnered this year by the staggering expenditures by Republican-oriented independent groups after a Supreme Court ruling in January that lifted restrictions on corporate political spending.
But it appears that the Republican-leaning groups were able to make a significant impact in many House races by leveling the playing field for underfinanced Republican challengers, who in previous elections might have had little chance against Democratic incumbents…
The overall Democratic spending advantage on television in the House holds true not only for all races, but also when just the 105 races that the group classifies as competitive are considered. Democrats have so far outspent Republicans on television in 68 of those 105 contests. In all House races, Republican-leaning outside groups spent $38 million on television, compared with $13 million by Democratic-oriented groups. But Democratic candidates outspent Republican ones, $97 million to $49 million. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee also outspent the national Republican Congressional Committee, $30 million to $26 million.
I’m really curious now to see what the excuse will be tomorrow night. Presumably it was going to be “outside money!” but the Times just went and knifed them in the back on that. What are they left with now? Pelosi’s not actually going to get up in front of the podium and talk about “messaging.” Is she?

Must be the ungrateful lizard brained voters clinging to their guns and bibles who are responsible. Seems that only revolutions that lead to marxist horror shows are appreciated in leftwing media circles. But conservative revolutions that lead to freedom are a horror to those same media and democrap cohort. Onward conservative soldiers today. The battles aren’t over till all the ballots are counted.

Isn’t that last statement diametrically opposite of what the truth is???
Nevertheless, I am unexpectedly shocked, SHOCKED that the Dems managed to survive the “deluge” of “staggering expenditures.” Certainly, this is “unprecedented!”
Surely the fair and balanced NYT’s could have come up with an appropriate label for the Democratic “expenditures.”

Socialism is communism light. Americans don’t want any flavor of communism, period. Those idiot dems failed to see wisdom behind the American voters.
On his interview, Obama said Social Secuity started out for orphans and widows, but put in the path for the vast expansion of Social security we have today. Voters know all about that, and know healthcare will expand into a similar money gulping beast. With Social Security and Medicare out of any degree of financial control, what fool would want to launch yet another budget busting bahemith when the first two are running wild?

Obama seems like a nice enough guy, but it is clear he did not grow up in the same America as I did. Based on his policies, I like my America way better.
His is all about victims and flunkies. Mine was all about hard work, achievement, and being the best you can be. His dream seems to be a free ride for everyone that refuses to lift a finger to help themselves.
Which do you think best serves the American economy? Seems real simple to me, but I am just a dumb country boy.

Man! you really sound exactly like me and the way I feel and write on my hometown blog…Only thing…I’ve decided he’s not a nice enough guy…I think he is plenty evil and is deliberately trying to implement all he’s studied as far as exactly what he said that was the final straw for me and I never thought he could get as far along as he has in :Fundamentally transforming America”! i think America, the concept, is the finest piece of work besides the WORD itself. He has no idea what a true American is…especially a country boy! He is the prime example of why the founders did not allow anyone other than a “Natural born citizen” to be president because they are not loyal to her and his upbringing since child hood was indoctrinated with constant communist, Marxist views and teachings by his mother and father and was taught at hi most vulnerable years in muslim schools and mentored by the worst of the worst! And, he can NOT qualify as a natural born under very many different reasons. the thing is, until not too very long from now, the truth will be revealed. And the fallout will be very extreme, dangerous, and wonderful at the same time. Well, my fellow country folk…I’ll stop rambling for now…but, Bless you my brother….the time is near and unfortunately it ain’t gonna be pretty, but it’s a must!

AP, I must protest the Caine Mutiny reference. Pelosi might well be as cracked as Captain Queeg, probably more so. But Queeg had what she has never known, desired, nor displayed a remote interest in.
Honor, guts, and willingness to serve.
