Video: Ellison crashes Election Integrity press conference, stomps off when questioned; Update: Video fixed

posted at 12:00 pm on October 31, 2010 by Ed Morrissey

Minnesota Majority held a press conference on Thursday to discuss their lawsuit against Hennepin and Ramsey counties (Minneapolis and St.Paul) over a new policy implemented this year that bars Tea Party themed clothing and MM’s Election Integrity buttons from being worn at polling places. The presser got taken over by an uninvited Rep. Keith Ellison, the DFL incumbent in MN-05, who proceeded to accuse the organization of voter intimidation in its efforts to prevent fraud.  When it comes to answering questions about his own misrepresentations — and a pointed one about who benefits from not requiring photo ID at the polling place — Ellison suddenly became a lot less interested in hijacking the podium.  Most of the fun comes in the final minute or so:

Well, voter fraud is a felony, and those who get arrested for it may well find themselves in handcuffs.  Retail stores have used posters like that for years to warn people against shoplifting, which is only a misdemeanor in most cases.  Are those cases of shopper intimidation?  Furthermore, the big eye on the button is taken, as voices in the video point out, from the Neighborhood Watch program, which has been used for years.  (It’s also on the back of the $1 bill.)

And to that point, government should be watching the voting process to ensure fraud doesn’t occur.  How exactly does Ellison propose to enforce laws against voter fraud?  Osmosis?  Tarot cards?  Arresting people wearing Tea Party t-shirts?  Oh, wait, he apparently does support that.

This is as good a time as any to remind people that Joel Demos is running against Ellison in MN-05 this year.

Update: Minnesota Majority had to take down the original video after a complaint from The Uptake, so they found even better footage and uploaded a new version.

I gave to Demos, I hope it works out because Ellison is a thug creep.

Someone should have asked Ellison which fist he prefers to hit women with, his left or right.

And how in the he1l does “Tea Party” apparel equate to representing a political party?

What is TP apparel, a shirt that actually says Tea Party or can I be kicked out for wearing a shirt that says “Earl Gray” on it?

Democrats in general know that they benefit from voter fraud, so it’s in their interest to make it harder to spot. Their supporters are more dishonest than their opponent’s supporters. Plus they can count on the media and the Obama Justice Department to take on any Republican voter fraud (and even insinuate it when it doesn’t exist).

Not a shot. Minnesota 5 is D+23. The last Republican to win election in the district was Walter Judd in 1960. Nate Silver projects Ellison winning by a margin of about 40 points.

The left have always used the charge of voter suppression to counter voter fraud. We know voter fraud is rampant among the left and they are the ones guilty of voter suppression when it comes to the military vote.

I live in MN CD-5 let me remind you that Ellison is the guy who said Juan Williams is Unamerican. Just to give you some History this Muslim used to go by his Muslim name but in the wake of 9-11 suddenly he REFUSED to have it on the ballot when he was first elected. Ellison is a punk in a gerrymandered district that even a prominent local DJ (who also lives in CD5) complains about that we will never have our voices heard due to the communist block in Minneapolis we inner suburbs are included in. Bachman’s CD6 is the next closest district on the north side if you can imagine the difference as you travel north from the Minneapolis border. He won by 72% in 2008 so don’t hold your breath he is in Barney Frank territory which is why you see him be as outrageous as he is. Nothing would please me more than to see him go down but…I know the reality of this district.

Conan on October 31, 2010 at 12:23 PM

I am so grateful as a Minnesotan that there is a burgeoning organization to fight the corruption of the fraudulent DFL party here in MN. Electoral fraud disenfranchises everyone who votes honestly. There MUST be intense scrutiny brought upon the Democrat’s practice of electoral fraud, or we will lose this republic.

IronDioPriest on October 31, 2010 at 12:25 PM

I am going to my voting place wearing a shirt with the Bill of Rights on it…a TP theme. Lets see what happens.

ID is required here in Idaho. But if you don’t have it, you must sign a affidavit claiming you are who you say you are. Riiiight.

MN CD-5 in Minneapolis is home to ACORN and the Mark Ritchie Democrat vote machine. Why do you think he was so spastic about this program to interuppt a news conference? It isn’t a threat to him in CD-5. It is a threat to the fraud in statewide elections. St. Paul may be as democrat controlled but Minneapolis and Ellison is where ALL the machine stuff will come from against Emmer and future Republicans. They KNOW they delivered Franken to the Senate and they can’t have people throwing sand in their gears with this watchdog group.

Conan on October 31, 2010 at 12:32 PM

You have to show an ID to prove your age when buying spray paint, but you can show up to vote with just a smile.

Ellison is probably going to win, his district contains a high concentration and proportion of Minnesota’s human trash. Most of those people would vote for Che Guevara even if Che executed someone up on the debate stage right in front of them.

Bishop on October 31, 2010 at 12:32 PM

Imagine that I.D. to vote./

Yeh no worries./

In North Carolina and Nevada, early voters have encountered ballot machine glitches that favor Democrats in hotly contested races.

In Troy, N.Y., and Daytona Beach, Fla., police investigations into suspected absentee ballot fraud by elected government officials are underway.

In Harris County, Texas, the voter registrar admitted that 20 percent of voter registration forms submitted by liberal activist Houston Votes had problems. Election whistleblowers from True the Vote are now being investigated by the Obama Justice Department and have been slapped with an ethics complaint by the Texas Democratic Party and a left-wing billionaire George Soros-funded group called Texans for Public Justice.

In Yuma County, Ariz., election officials denied any fraud associated with thousands of requests for “permanent early voter list” status submitted en masse by open-borders group Mi Familia Vota (a social justice satellite group of the Service Employees International Union). But election officials admitted that some 6,000 out of 14,000 requests fielded by the Yuma County Recorder’s Office “were reviewed and rejected, under Arizona law, either due to the fact the request was a duplicate or the requestor was not eligible to vote in this election or within the jurisdiction.” Michelle Malkin

Great,

Keith Ellison, another Muslim, an intolerant bigot, racist, rude person with no manners who thinks he is entitled to interrupt others, crash an organized meeting, take over the meeting, spew his lies and hatred, then get away with it.

Unfortunately he and his ilk do engage in this stuff frequently, as a common course, and they DO get away with it!

They think they have full rights to do whatever they wish to others, demand anything they wish of others, cry foul any time they wish, and get away with it!

They are being rewarded for their rudeness and lack of respect and lack of tolerance, as tolerant US citizens bend over backward to accomodate their oppressive, domineering behvior.

You have to understand why requiring photo ID is wrong. It would disenfranchise 10s of thousands, 100s of thousands, or perhaps even millions of people who have no legal right to vote and prevent others from voting more than once.

Hey, this is America. Doesn’t everyone, living or dead, legal or illegal (‘scuse me “undocumented”)have a “right” to vote? I mean, we have such a big influence in the world, shouldn’t people in other countries be able to vote in our elections?

C’mon people now, smile on your brother, everybody get together, try and love one another right now.

I assure you that if California legalizes pot this will all make sense.
