Sharron Angle campaign: Reid’s trying to steal the election

posted at 8:42 pm on October 26, 2010 by Allahpundit

There’s no hard evidence yet that I know of, but take the hottest Senate race of the year, throw in a few voting-machine glitches, add some shadowy SEIU workers, and mmmmm that’s good blog content.

As Sharron Angle’s campaign attorney, I am sorry to report that the Democrats and their cronies are up to their same old tricks, of trying to manipulate the election in hopes of skewing the results in their favor.

Two days ago, the Democratic Secretary of State announced that voters can be provided “free food” at “voter turnout events.” Harry Reid has been offering free food and, according to other reports, some Democratic allies such as teachers’ unions are offering gift cards in return for a vote for Reid…

What Harry Reid is doing is clearly illegal. Nevada law (NRS 293.700) provides that, “A person who bribes, offers to bribe, or use and other corrupt means, directly or indirectly, to influence any elector in giving his or her vote or to deter the elector from giving it is guilty of a category D felony and shall be punished as provided in NRS 193.130.”…

Now, this week in Las Vegas, at our election hotline, we received reports that some teachers’ union representatives were offering Starbucks cards to people to get them to vote for Harry Reid. It is even more disturbing and may be possible that they are using their influence and authority as educators to entice students on behalf of Reid.

Click the image below to watch the clip about alleged glitches in the electronic voting machines in Clark County which are causing ballots to default to Reid before the voter can make a final selection. Honestly, the first thing I thought of when I saw it were the alleged pedal problems in the Toyota Prius, which somehow always seemed to happen to drivers 60 years old or older. That doesn’t mean a glitch doesn’t exist in the machines, just that there may perhaps be an alternative explanation. (And if you watch the clip, you’ll see one is offered.) Meanwhile, Mark Hemingway chips in with the fact that the voting machine technicians in Clark County just so happen to be members of SEIU. What — you mean you guys don’t trust Harry Reid and the Purple People Beaters?

If it helps put your mind at ease, one of Geraghty’s sources says the race is in the bag. Heck, even I’m feeling optimistic about this one.

The pugnacious, mustached AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka is traveling to Reno tonight to gin up some enthusiasm for the embattled Harry Reid, hoping that labor’s ground troops can stave off Sharron Angle’s challenge and keep the Senate majority leader in his seat.

For labor, the stakes are high.

Nevada is “Ground Zero in the battle to put working men and women before the oil companies and the corporate lobbyists and Wall Street,” Trumka plans to tell union members when he addresses union members at the Washoe County Senior Center, with Reid in attendance before heading to Las Vegas tomorrow morning to kick off union phone banks and canvass

Right but that is still no excuse. These electronic voting machines need to be bullet proof and telling seniors to get their fingers off of it immediate after they are done voting is not a solution. This seems like an inherent design flaw that needs to be remedied.

As for the broader points regarding fraud, it is simply the SOS different election day. The demorats are masters at this game.

Hey Harry, two can play this game: Sources say the free food will be blended with outhouse excrement to provide a liberal southwest flavor.

JellyToast on October 26, 2010 at 9:09 PM

‘Calibration’ of the CRT or LCD-touchscreen voting machines is critical, if that’s the kind they have in Nevada. You could do a bad (but subtle) calibration that would favor democratics if you really wanted to. You would do this by assigning a larger touch-area acceptable as a D-vote as that assigned for an R-vote.

The accuracy of these machines depends on the honesty of the people that calibrate them.

You have to lay some of the blame at the state level for all this voter fraud being reported. Current projections are for a minimum of 35 R governorships. Now is the time for a push for voter ID to be implemented countrywide.

It is the easiest path to lessening or preventing voter fraud.

In AP’s post, the machines are touch screen and it attempts to blame the user for the fraud. There are many different machines used in polling places. Ours uses a scroll wheel and a select button to X your vote.

Can selections be manipulated? Yes, remember the hanging chads? Anyone determined enough to win by fraud, will win.

Anybody can count a paper ballot. The old metal voting machines were indestructible and tamper proof. These electronic voting machines are nothing more than specialized pc’s. Any experienced hack with a little knowledge of the software could effect votes. It comes down to software and who programmed it and who is downloading the data. For that matter, somebody with a magnet could screw up a machine or even tip one over. And what privacy is there?

Hey, lets not forget, there was a HotAir story here a few years back that linked the Evil Clown to the software of electronic voting machines. Here’s one link.

First … if they have SEIU tampering with voting machines then they WILL be caught – and we’ll have the evidence we’ve always wanted.

Second … in order for Reid to win he’s gonna have to enlist a large number of “conspirators” if he’s gonna do it through fraud – someone will talk.

Cara C on October 26, 2010 at 9:22 PM

Voting machines bother me because it is too easy to hide a subtle glitch in the program and that effect can be spread over a greater area. A programmed glitch that switches 1 in 100, or 1 in 50 Republican votes to the Democrat will shift 2 to 4% of the vote. How many voters will notice, report it, and be believed? Even if they were believed would the courts invalidate an election over the matter?

Physical ballots at least take some effort to duplicate, its more noticeable when they try to substitute them, and less widespread due to the need to have people on site at each location.

What may save us from that scenario is the man’s extreme laziness. The office of the President is the most difficult job, and the only real job that he has ever held. I believe that he thought he could wave his magic fairy dust wand and turn us into his socialist utopia. Now he finds out that it is very hard work, and his harridan wife hates the White House and Washington. He may just walk away from it all in 2012.

Oh, he’s lazy alright. But that description must be qualified. Yes, he’s lazy, slovenly and AWOL when it comes to attending to the legimate affairs of state and execution of the Office as per it’s Constitutional parameters.

BUT, when it comes to undermining, destroying, dissolving, dissembling and degeneration (think of his non-stop campaigning now, and his diabolical energy in pushing obamacare) there is no limit to the time and energy that this “president” will expend in attaining these unholy goals.

Mark Hemingway chips in with the fact that the voting machine technicians in Clark County just so happen to be members of SEIU.

Which is a thought that crossed my mind when I read another article that stated the machines had been “calibrated” by a “technician”. The “calibration” required should be binary … it either works or not. It records a wrong vote or a correct vote. So do you have to adjust it to make sure it gets the votes right “most” of the time? My computer keyboard works every time. When I touch the A key, I get an A. This isn’t “rocket surgery”.

This is Sting 1973 except it is on a much grander scale. Don’t you realize that you folks are suckers, that you have been manipulated big time by Soros and Obama and their merry men and women.

Harry Reid has already won the election and so has every other Dem candidate for the House and Senate. Voter fraud is massive. The voting machines have all been programmed to record each vote for the Dem candidate. The results will be 100% to 0% for each Dem candidate.

Obama will claim a mandate to impose a dictatorship on America. The 22nd amendment will soon be abolished and your guns will be confiscated from you within a year. Get used it to it my friends. As PT Barnum said, “There is a sucker born every minute.” And Christians are the biggest suckers alive.

Get used to being slaves for the rest of your life and bowing down to the Anointed One.

There will be riots election night. Obama’s racial overtones are stoking the fire.

The back of the bus talk was aimed at someone. That kind of thing doesn’t just happen when you are reading a Teleprompter. Someone vetted that racist language and they’ve been repeating it. Who are they aiming at?

Do they assume blacks will vote just so white Republicans have to ride in the back? I simply refuse to believe any Americans can be so easily manipulated! And he says it with such glee.

You know the boss rides in the back in a limo–Mr. President… be careful what images you mess with!

Forget about bringing cameras – there should be a conservative judge in each precinct watching the election and filing protests with the local election board.

Reminds me of an early Mission Impossible episode where they re-rig the voting machines to read accurately and thwart a third-world deek-tay-tor-ship. Don’t know why I remember that one so well.

eh sure would be nice if there was a paper ballot…at least some sort of receipt for the person who just voted.

It needs to go back to all paper, by law. A receipt is cold comfort to me. Once your vote gets converted in software, there’s no end of mischief possible in the electronic black box. Yep, all those family photos will be safe on the hard-drive. At least paper ballots read by optical counters can be recounted manually.

At the very least, it’s another breach of trust in our most sacred right to vote. Brought to you by liberals, of course.
