Sharron Angle campaign: Reid’s trying to steal the election

posted at 8:42 pm on October 26, 2010 by Allahpundit

There’s no hard evidence yet that I know of, but take the hottest Senate race of the year, throw in a few voting-machine glitches, add some shadowy SEIU workers, and mmmmm that’s good blog content.

As Sharron Angle’s campaign attorney, I am sorry to report that the Democrats and their cronies are up to their same old tricks, of trying to manipulate the election in hopes of skewing the results in their favor.

Two days ago, the Democratic Secretary of State announced that voters can be provided “free food” at “voter turnout events.” Harry Reid has been offering free food and, according to other reports, some Democratic allies such as teachers’ unions are offering gift cards in return for a vote for Reid…

What Harry Reid is doing is clearly illegal. Nevada law (NRS 293.700) provides that, “A person who bribes, offers to bribe, or use and other corrupt means, directly or indirectly, to influence any elector in giving his or her vote or to deter the elector from giving it is guilty of a category D felony and shall be punished as provided in NRS 193.130.”…

Now, this week in Las Vegas, at our election hotline, we received reports that some teachers’ union representatives were offering Starbucks cards to people to get them to vote for Harry Reid. It is even more disturbing and may be possible that they are using their influence and authority as educators to entice students on behalf of Reid.

Click the image below to watch the clip about alleged glitches in the electronic voting machines in Clark County which are causing ballots to default to Reid before the voter can make a final selection. Honestly, the first thing I thought of when I saw it were the alleged pedal problems in the Toyota Prius, which somehow always seemed to happen to drivers 60 years old or older. That doesn’t mean a glitch doesn’t exist in the machines, just that there may perhaps be an alternative explanation. (And if you watch the clip, you’ll see one is offered.) Meanwhile, Mark Hemingway chips in with the fact that the voting machine technicians in Clark County just so happen to be members of SEIU. What — you mean you guys don’t trust Harry Reid and the Purple People Beaters?

If it helps put your mind at ease, one of Geraghty’s sources says the race is in the bag. Heck, even I’m feeling optimistic about this one.

This is a great opportunity to put a lot of Dems behind bars.

Someone should be in handcuffs right now and doing the perp walk!

If Reid steals this election, consider it grounds for an uprising!

There’s no hard evidence

Luckily that won’t stop her.

When the people can’t get their will using the ballot, there’s only one remedy.

“… throw in a few voting-machine glitches”

If these were truly “glitches” or flukes, how come there are no reports of the opposite happening?

I like our local voting machines. They are electronic, but before you leave the booth, you can see it print a hard copy of your vote on the paper just to make sure there is a record–and you can see that it is correct. The machine prints it, there’s no doubt of who you voted for due to illegibility, etc. And your friendly local conservative poll watcher has an easily accessible hard copy to compare the machine to.

There are in other areas. BoingBoing had some interesting cell phone video of somebody casting a vote for a down ticket candidate and the button turned out to be mapped to “Vote straight ticket green party”. There was another incident in Texas where where the demo showing you how to remained a default option when you started voting (It was alphabetic by party or first name – can’t recall which)…

I think most people don’t leave enough room for incompetence, human error, and lazy programmers that don’t double check their work when assuming these are attempts to steal elections.

It needs to go back to all paper, by law. A receipt is cold comfort to me. Once your vote gets converted in software, there’s no end of mischief possible in the electronic black box. Yep, all those family photos will be safe on the hard-drive. At least paper ballots read by optical counters can be recounted manually.

At the very least, it’s another breach of trust in our most sacred right to vote. Brought to you by liberals, of course.

Nope. The easiest way to cheat paper ballots is to go through them after the fact and spoil votes for Republicans with another mark, much like democratics did in Florida 2000. Democratics have a hundred years of practice in corrupting paper ballots to draw on. They are damn good at it, and probably have methods we still haven’t figured out. Maybe a better way is to change voting methods every twenty years or so.

We do need to dramatically increase the penalties for stealing votes or voting more than once. The penalties at present are insignificant. Put some people in jail for ten years or so and that will chill the cheats. We also need laws that require cross-check of voting lists from state to state, ie Florida and New York.

Re Nevada, whoever it was that put SEIU in charge of maintaining the machines should go to jail.

Perhaps, but in the reports I’m reading, (not just on Drudge) the “glitches” seem to always disproportionately favor the democrat candidate/ticket. This would naturally make one a bit suspicious.

labrat on October 27, 2010 at 11:55 AM

Well it’s bad enough the dems are providing food and gift cards (e.g., bribes) to voters but it’s a whole other thing to actually rig ballots so your name is already checked…and guess whose name is already checked on some ballots…you guessed it…Reid’s!

I heard about this on the news this morning aznd found an article, here’s a quote from the article:

“Guess who services the voting machines in Clark county? Hint: They wear purple shirts, give a gazillion dollars to Democrats, and their former president was the most frequent visitor at the White House!”

Here’s a link to the article: Voter Ballots with Reid’s name Pre-Checked!

I heard that Ahmud Ahmedenijad and Hugo Chavez are involved with the voting-election process in Nevada.

(sarcasm-humor = off)

Let’s make this clear, no beating around the bush.

If SEIU is involved, then there is no doubt that there could be fraud, deception, and cheating.

If there IS fraud, deception, or cheating is another issue, but there is no doubt that the possibility of there being such is so strong it is 100%.
