Video: The first campaign ad of 2012?
posted at 7:20 pm on October 22, 2010 by Allahpundit
From Sharron Angle, an ad that’s ostensibly about Harry Reid and yet … not really about Harry Reid at all. I dig it, but I wonder if it’s a strategic error. I can’t find credible recent numbers on Obama’s and Reid’s respective approval and favorable ratings in Nevada, but I’m willing to bet that the former are comparable and that The One leads in the latter. (How could he not? Anyone’s more personally likeable than Dingy.) If so, you’re not really weighing Reid down by linking him to Obama. If anything, you’re giving his otherwise charisma-less existence a tiny bit of charisma by association.
Not-so-fun fact to bear in mind as you watch: Unemployment in Las Vegas hit 15 percent today, a new record. Meanwhile, when pressed for an explanation as to why Democrats are doing so horribly in the polls, Harry Reid said — actually, I’m not going to tell you what he said. By now, you should be able to guess the answer. It’s the same answer they all give. Right, that one.
Update: Conservatives 4 Palin e-mails with a fact check: Apparently, Obama’s as unpopular in Nevada as Reid is. Must be the poor “messaging.”

Good, but needs a haircut on the front half, and a little more towards the end.

Keep voting democrat!

Good ad.. Should have had more pics like the oiled pelican, people in light in GA waiting for housing help, etc.
reshas1 on October 22, 2010 at 7:24 PM
As usual Allah, you’re over-thinking it. It’s a great ad.
Jim-Rose on October 22, 2010 at 7:27 PM
I love it.

Fox reported earlier tonight that Reid’s approval rating was 41, Obama’s 40 in Nevada.
Sue on October 22, 2010 at 7:29 PM
A Rasmussen poll from October 18th has Obama’s approval at 43% in Nevada. 56% disapprove.
amerpundit on October 22, 2010 at 7:29 PM
Ap- are you trying to say that Obama is not a drag on any Democrat with lower favorability numbers? Or that tying a Dem candidate to Obama may somehow be a mistake for a GOP candidate? Or, did I read you wrong?
BKeyser on October 22, 2010 at 7:30 PM
It’s from Friends of Sharon Angle. Not from Sharon. Still a decent ad anyway.
Egfrow on October 22, 2010 at 7:31 PM
I love Obama’s smarmy smugness in that ad because it reminds us that he simply doesn’t have it anymore.
Like the gifted, undefeated boxer that gets knocked out a couple of times. They try to come back with that old confidence and intimidation factor, but they just don’t have it anymore.
In 2008, we had 1965 Ali. In 2012, we will have 1975 Ali.
swamp_yankee on October 22, 2010 at 7:31 PM
5% of Nevadans view the economy as good. 64% rate it poor. 49% say it’s getting worse, 26% say it’s getting better.
43% view Reid favorably. 55% unfavorably.
59% of voters want ObamaCare repealed.

The creepy chanting is, well, creepy!
SouthernGent on October 22, 2010 at 7:33 PM
“Friends of Sharron Angle” is the name of her campaign committee. It’s also a web ad.
amerpundit on October 22, 2010 at 7:34 PM
The chanting and the music juxtaposed with Barry’s words and images really makes the ad pop. I like it.

Obama. Sanjaya. Gonna set yo’ pants on fire!
LOL
Key West Reader on October 22, 2010 at 7:37 PM
Obama already wrote, what should be, the main attack ad of 2012. I don’t remember the ad exactly, but in it, he says “this election isn’t about the past 8 years, but about the next 4 years….”
If that ad isn’t front and center in 2012, R’s are stupid.
lorien1973 on October 22, 2010 at 7:37 PM
That would make an excellent 2012 ad

Yeah, also, I wrote as much in the comment section.
amerpundit on October 22, 2010 at 7:47 PM
I dunno. I can’t stand listening to obama. Those weren’t promises – they were outright lies. Blech.
Blake on October 22, 2010 at 7:48 PM
What happens when the lies and deceptions stop working? Reid and Obama are about to find out.
volsense on October 22, 2010 at 7:52 PM
I was wondering why they didn’t add the clip of Obama saying people should NOT go to Vegas.
IowaWoman on October 22, 2010 at 7:54 PM
I pray for the day when no one in this world gives a rats azz what hussein obama has to say about anything!
lukespapa on October 22, 2010 at 7:55 PM
Honey, we’re already there!
Key West Reader on October 22, 2010 at 7:59 PM
Hope they’re saving that for the next ad.

And it’s not surprising, given that Obama twice tried to kneecap tourism in a city that lives on nothing else.

brutal ad
remember when the R’s were not going to attack the Prez since he was so popular….like maybe a year ago…oh well
here’s one for Carly that has a brutal image of Boxer and the Prez at 6 secs. into the ad.
Makes Boxer look like a puppet of O…..she’s dancing around like a fool…brutal image:

But Newsweek has Obama at 54/40 approval!!! Really, I didn’t think there was much room for them to become even more irrelevant.

I personally don’t think any post about Harry Reid is not complete unless this Dennis Miller ripping isn’t added:

How about this for a chant/cheer?

I don’t know what HA is doing, but there is a Bloomberg ad right in the middle of the story above and it won’t go away.
This is annoying as all h@!!.
BillyGoatGruff on October 22, 2010 at 8:29 PM
Obama is insufferable. Not just a braggart but an incompetent braggart.

I think it’s a related to “paralysis by analysis”
Dr. Carlo Lombardi on October 22, 2010 at 8:42 PM
I see an ad showing the horror of re-electing Dirty Harry to another term who can then work with The One to wreak at least two more years of pure terror on our economy, nation and American people. I don’t understand the comments of Allahpundit at all.
Herb on October 22, 2010 at 8:47 PM
Now this is a powerful ad……and to the babies in Illinois after the 2001 debate over the Born Alive Infant Protection Act this is what the DOTUS was to them.

“You’re not just voting against Harry Reid. You’re voting against the Democrat Obamanation.” THAT’s the message.
njcommuter on October 23, 2010 at 3:04 AM
What’s to worry about?
NEVADANS ARE NOT DUMB! They know who Harry Reid is!
HARRY REID IS AN OBAMA PUPPET! NOTHING MORE NOTHING LESS.
TheAlamos on October 23, 2010 at 3:12 AM
I think it is a powerful ad that reminds people why they want to vote against Obama and Harry Reid. With all the shiite Dirty Harry is slinging, I think such an ad is smart.
WannabeAnglican on October 23, 2010 at 9:17 AM
Would have liked to see some illegal immigrant/cartel crime juxtaposed when Obama refers to securing our nation. But GREAT ad. Hope it goes VIRAL.
