Quotes of the day

“I have faith they will shake things up because that’s why we’re sending them there.

“And this is kind of — I think some in the GOP, it is their last shot. It is their last chance. We will lose states and be disappointed from them if they start straying from the bedrock principles that can grow our economy. If they start straying, then why not a third party? That’s what people are going to start asking.”

“WOW. Just heard Limbaugh’s opening monologue, where he gave the GOP establishment both barrels. Seems he doesn’t just fear a return to business-as-usual after November, but actually expects it. He’s openly warning that this will create a third party for 2012. I’ve issued the same kind of warnings myself, but he seemed a lot more . . . definite about it. I wonder what he knows that I don’t?”

Personally, as a science teacher, I’m not afraid of other ideas & those who question theories.
Theories are meant to be questioned.
That’s when you get to analyze the evidence & methods of those whose work contributed to the organization of the theories.
Sometimes theories change. Maybe not by much or maybe by a lot.
So what?
I think folks who get hot under the collar about religious factions wanting to only teach one view of things are wasting their time.
It is up to a parent whether they wish their child to be educated about something & to the degree in which they are educated about it.
So if my neighbor wishes to teach their child to believe in the tooth fairy til they leave home at 18, well then it’s their right as that child’s parents.
Sure, the kid is going to be at a disadvantage, but we all have the right to our children, unless we have committed a prosecutable crime against them.
