Video: Sean Bielat heckled by Barney Frank’s “significant other”

posted at 7:36 pm on October 17, 2010 by Allahpundit

Via Fleming and Hayes, who say two eyewitnesses at the scene recognized this guy as Frank’s boyfriend. Bielat’s campaign recognized him too and confirmed his identity when asked by Brian Faughnan. Three possibilities for why the BF would do something this lame and embarrassing: (1) The Frank campaign is increasingly nervous about the challenge from Bielat, especially considering that Bielat outraised him last quarter. (2) The Frank campaign is prone to abrasive jackass behavior, mainly because it is, after all, run by Barney Frank. As Gay Patriot says, “You just can’t talk about this guy without laughing at his hypocrisy — and his arrogance.” (3) Per Obama’s unified field theory for why bad things happen to good Democrats, the Frank campaign is in the grip of economic fear that causes it to do irrational things contrary to “facts and science and argument.” Feel free to choose all of the above, but number one is my favorite.

Doug Powers wonders what would have happened here had the roles been reversed and, say, Bielat’s wife been caught heckling Frank. My guess: The single most fulsome “to what uncivil depths hath these wingnuts sunk now?” column ever written by Frank Rich. Alas, we’ll never get to read it. Exit question: Frank and Bielat have debated five times? Why would Frank sacrifice some of his advantage in name recognition by agreeing to that many forums? Sheer bravado?

Update: Here’s the Boston Herald’s official version of the video.

Hey! You other HA commenters — quit interrupting me. (Hat tip: B. Frank)

So if the heckler was B. Frank’s boyfriend, does that mean that B. Frank has no other supporters he can turn to for a task like this? Has B. Frank become THAT lonely?

And furthermore, I believe that — listen to me, you HA commenters, and you might learn something if you’ll just let me finish and stop posting over me. (Hat tip again: B. Frank)

Yeah, Frank has always been a ‘class’ act, hasn’t (s)he?

Well at least he’s not wearing a ball gag and gimp outfit.

I guess he’s the top to Barney’s bottom.

I see Barney goes for the Aryan race, white militia Nazi buzz cut though.

Well, one problem with having a completely safe seat is there is no real need to pay a political staff or have top advisers who could handle – or find someone to handle – this sort of thing, or at least counsel one’s “significant other” not to get his thong all in a twist and throw a public hissy fit repeatedly.

I am beginning to believe Barney might go down.

I simply cannot believe that Frank is in this much trouble with his re-election.

Amazing, really amazing.

SteveMG on October 17, 2010 at 7:56 PM

Sheer bravado?

No. Barney is in big trouble and he knows it. He knew it the minute Scott Brown carried his district easily. He knew it when he was being pummeled at the Townhall events he dared hold. He knew it when his district built a $250M Taj Mahal of a High School causing the districts property taxes to go nuclear. He knew it when virtually all of his constituents are economics savvy college grads (ie, they know what role he played in the collapse). He knew it when Bielat ran a series of affective ads that hurt him. He knew it when the ethics charges hit. So, what choice did he have but try to hit a homerun at a debate that the corrupt media establishment could use top beat down Bielat with for him?

I just saw Barney’s first TV ad waiting for Sunday Night Football and to call it pathetic in every respect would be me being kind.

He’s in trouble and he knows it.

(1) The Frank campaign is increasingly nervous about the challenge from Bielat, especially considering that Bielat outraised him last quarter.

Great news that Sean Bielat outraised Rep. Barney Frank last quarter! But Sean Bielat is still competing against Rep. Frank’s larger campaign war chest.

As of 9/30/10 the FEC.gov website http://www.fec.gov/DisclosureSearch/HSRefreshCandList.do?category=disH&stateName=MA&congressId=04&election_yr=2010 reports:

Sean Bielat had Cash on Hand = $364,664

Rep. Barney Frank had Cash on Hand = $1,082,779

Vote for Sean Bielat to replace Rep. Barney Frank in Massachusetts’ 4th Congressional District!

slickwillie2001 on October 17, 2010 at 9:06 PM

Rep. Barney Frank has a history of selecting “interesting” boyfriends. Remember his previous boyfriend, Stephen Gobie?

Back in 1985, Frank had engaged the services of a male escort named Stephen Gobie, who had advertised his “hot bottom” in a personal ad. Over the next two years, while Frank was trying to decide whether to come out, he and Gobie carried on a clandestine affair, during which time Frank hired Gobie as a driver despite knowing Gobie was on probation for drug possession and for possession of child pornography. Frank used his House privileges to fix Gobie’s parking tickets. He wrote a memo trying to clear Gobie from probation that was disingenuous at best and an outright deception at worst. Gobie repaid Frank by running a prostitution service out of Frank’s Capitol Hill apartment. When Frank discovered this, he fired Gobie and ended their relationship. Then, in 1989, just two years after Frank’s announcement that he was gay, Gobie told his story to the conservative Washington Times.

It sure can be confusing to keep track of Barney’s Boys.

Herb Moses was Assistant Director for Product Initiatives at Fannie Mae. According to National Mortgage News, Moses “helped develop many of Fannie Mae’s affordable housing and home improvement lending programs.”

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,432501,00.html

Then Barney “had an affair” with Steve Gobi. He is the one who ran the prostitution business out of Rep. Frank’s Capitol Hill apartment.

http://www.boston.com/news/globe/magazine/articles/2005/10/02/to_be_frank/

The boyfriend who heckled Sean Bielat is James Ready. James is the guy who was arrested at his home in Ogunquite, Maine and was charged with marijuana possession, cultivation, and use of drug paraphernalia. Marijuana plants were found in Ready’s backyard. Ready paid a fine for civil possession and the rest of the charges were dismissed in 2008.
