Video: Chicago reporters protect Rahm in very Chicago-y way

posted at 5:08 pm on October 13, 2010 by Allahpundit

Via Dana Loesch and Big Journalism, something salty to cleanse the palate. The man daring to inquire about Rahm’s eligibility is William Kelly, WIND radio host and would-be alderman. Per Loesch, the man threatening to punch him in the face if he doesn’t stop interrupting is Jay Levine of the local CBS affiliate. The man in the middle of it all, blowing talking-point bubbles as airy as his old boss’s now infamous rhetoric about “shovel-ready projects” — well, you know who he is. The stage is now set, my friends, for a lesson in how the media handles Democrats … “the Chicago way.” Enjoy.

Organized crime.

Use RICO against media.

I’m sorry, but anything containing Rahm Emmanuel is most definitely NOT a palate cleanser…

catmman on October 13, 2010 at 5:11 PM

Paladino needs to run in Chicago. He’d be ahead by 20 points.

Paladino needs to run in Chicago. He’d be ahead by 20 points!

Rahm, how do you keep your breath so minty fresh? Your hair so bouncy and supple?, and, finally, have you been working out?

William Kelly will soon find a dead fish in his mailbox.

itsnotaboutme on October 13, 2010 at 5:16 PM

Why oh why can’t a douchebag like Levine say something like that to me? *walks away muttering “some guys have all the luck”*

Bishop on October 13, 2010 at 5:17 PM

Gee….no bias there.

NeoKong on October 13, 2010 at 5:20 PM

I hope William Kelly has a good tax attorney…

Chicago deserves Rahm.

The Chicago way
Like Sean Connery once said
” they shove a microphone in your face ,you have a union thug threaten to slug them”

ELMO Q on October 13, 2010 at 5:28 PM

Yeah, that’s the Chicago media all right.

Fortunately, you can’t see CBS Channel 2′s evening news ratings even with a microscope.

playblu on October 13, 2010 at 5:31 PM

More like protecting their own turf.

Ted Torgerson on October 13, 2010 at 5:33 PM

Well as AP has pointed out, Rahm’s tiny. Maybe it only seems as if they’re running interference for him? Yeah, well, it was just a passing thought anyway.

jeanie on October 13, 2010 at 5:33 PM

I love how Levine literally explodes in rage. He just can’t take it anymore!

Wottadouche.

Kensington on October 13, 2010 at 5:36 PM

Ok, he was kind of obnoxious, but he’s hardly the first journalist to receive that label.

However, if I were Jay Levine’s boss or the other man’s boss, I would simply walk into their office, inform them that I expected their resignation letter on my desk by the end of the day, and walk out.

Nothing further need be said.

Chris of Rights on October 13, 2010 at 5:37 PM

Thugs.

Chicago should disown these clowns; their past thuggish miscreants at least had competence on their side. These bozos are truly pathetic.

hillbillyjim on October 13, 2010 at 5:45 PM

Oh come on. Kelly, who has a radio show on the weekends that no one has ever listened to, was not there to get any news. He was there to cause a commotion and get some film to promote himself. That’s why he narrates that he was pushed then steps away with a big grin to end his story. Jay Levine has been a Chicago Reporter for about 40 years. I remember him doing A LOT of stories about machine politicians over those years going back to the 70s. He asked a question and the candidate was answering when this publicity hound interrupts. T.V. reporters need a sound bite for their story, and they are on deadlines, so he got pissed at the jerk for screwing up his piece. Saying local press is protecting Rahm is just spin.

Ted Torgerson on October 13, 2010 at 5:49 PM

Never heard of William Kelly before this, but I like what I see. My only question is if there was something prior to what we just saw, because Rahm ignored him from the very beginning, even when he was asking a very benign question.

ButterflyDragon on October 13, 2010 at 5:49 PM

Love this: How are you a “fresh beginning” if you’re Obama’s former Chief of Staff?

Buy Danish on October 13, 2010 at 5:51 PM

The end of the video shows the glee the WIND guy had in getting such footage. Not that I blame him. The reporter who yelled at him was probably just getting frustrated that his Rahm soundbite was being interrupted over and over and over again. It is, after all, his only job as a journalist. Recording and regurgitating democrat soundbites.

jeanie on October 13, 2010 at 5:33 PM

He looks bigger when he’s doing a ‘pointe’.

slickwillie2001 on October 13, 2010 at 5:54 PM

This is the exact reason why I do not watch any televised newscasts on ABC,NBC,CBS,CNN and MSNBC. They will circle the wagons and defend any democrat who is either in Office or who is running for office. They will ignore the fraud and wrong doing of any democrat. They will bash any Republican whether that Republican is a Conservative or a liberal. And being that Fox News is not in the tank for the democrat party and states facts, they bash Fox News. To them reporting facts is an attack. They will distort and commit character assassinations-Sarah Palin is a very good example of this and she is not alone, many other conservatives are in the same boat. Do you think perhaps that the media is on the payroll of the DNC? They call themselves Journalists. They are no more of a Journalist than Josef Gobbels was.

flintstone on October 13, 2010 at 5:54 PM

Oops, forgot the link.

Here’s his boffo plan for fresh beginnings in Chi-town:

In an e-mail to supporters late Tuesday, he was similarly oblique: “We can build better schools. We can make our streets safer. We can recycle better and commute better.”

Buy Danish on October 13, 2010 at 5:56 PM

As if we needed more proof the media are nothing more than henchmen on the democrat party payroll. Go to Newseum and check out the papers endorsements. 80-20 democrat or worse.

roninacreage on October 13, 2010 at 6:04 PM

What liberal media?

WisCon on October 13, 2010 at 6:05 PM

Now this could only happen to a guy like me
And only happen in a town like this.
So may I say to each of you most gratefully
As I throw each one of you a kiss …..

Ian on October 13, 2010 at 6:09 PM

He’s safe now…under the protection of friends, absorbed into the gritty but loving arms of Chicago. No more need to worry about the larger world out there.

jeanie on October 13, 2010 at 6:16 PM

What are your hearing from the people out on the campaign Mr. Emanuel?”

Well, I am NOT hearing about residency issues or the stimulus package. Are we f%*$& clear on that?

Lily on October 13, 2010 at 6:22 PM

If he didn’t like WIND, wait till the guy from WINO shows up, or is that in Washington, can’t recall.

flyoverland on October 13, 2010 at 6:40 PM

“LET HIM FINISH OR I’M GONNA DECK YA!!!”

Come on, who’s surprised to see a “journalist” leaping to the defense of a Democrat?

Aitch748 on October 13, 2010 at 6:46 PM

Props to the inquisitive. Screw the fascist.

ChipDWood on October 13, 2010 at 7:10 PM

That was fun! Reminds me of “Stuttering John” on the old Howard Stern show. He used to shove a mic in celebrities faces and ask questions like “Who are you?” Their varied reactions were priceless…

yubley on October 13, 2010 at 7:27 PM

Rahm blows. However, that guy should have been decked. Be resourceful not a d#ck.

THE CHOSEN ONE on October 13, 2010 at 7:58 PM

Jay Levine is truly well known here in Chicago.

Well known for being a complete jerk.

pilamaye on October 13, 2010 at 8:21 PM

God, what a creepy-ass laugh.

Who cares if Rahm doesn’t answer any questions? Nobody who votes Democrat has a clue what the word “residency” means anyway.

Just put the question and that maniacal giggle on a loop and play it over and over again. That tells you everything anyone would ever want to know about this psycho — and then some.

logis on October 13, 2010 at 8:21 PM

This is the creepiest dude alive. One dangerous SOB.

To paraphrase Karl, the Press has become the Government’s watchdog against the People.

TheBigOldDog on October 13, 2010 at 8:56 PM

Being a Chicagoland native myself, I now have the urge to follow Levine around everywhere and see if I can goad him into threatening me.

ynot4tony2 on October 13, 2010 at 9:04 PM

Sorry to disagree with you, Ted, but Levine’s a pansy and a lefty clown. He wouldn’t know journalism if it slapped him.

But I’m sure that he wasn’t protecting Emanuel, here, but just his own turf; this was just his pathetic attempt to ingratiate himself with a guy who might well be the next criminally corrupt mayor of Chicago.

Jaibones on October 13, 2010 at 10:24 PM

I don’t think anyone has mentioned this but William Kelly is the same guy who was arrested after yelling something at Clinton.

The Chicago press is mostly useless when it comes to the corruption in the city. They ignore it until they can’t anymore. You gotta give credit to Daley for managing to turn these guys into lapdogs. The only guy I trust is the Chicago Tribune’s John Kass and for his trouble at exposing the Daley connection to the Mob family named Duff is to have his children get threatened.

P.S. Fitzgerald has been a real disappointment.

He assumes as much so he wants to make his bones with the next mayor and get his future phone calls returned.
