Chamber of Commerce VP: When did Hopenchange turn into fear ‘n smear?

posted at 8:23 pm on October 12, 2010 by Allahpundit

Answer: Pretty much on day one, no? Obama’s always needed a villain for his messianic passion plays. At first it was Rush Limbaugh for saying “I hope he fails,” then it was the health-care townhall “angry mobs,” then it was Fox, then it was the tea party, then John Boehner, then Palin, now it’s the Chamber of Commerce. There’s always someone standing at the foot of the cross, sippin’ on a Slurpee, while our poor unappreciated president spends trillions that we don’t have in order to redeem our sins. Look at it this way, Chamber members: It’s not that The One has it in for you. It was simply your turn.

Two clips here, the first of the VP via Greg Hengler and the second of Brit Hume lowering the boom via Newsbusters. Exit quotation from Ed Gillespie: “This kind of rhetoric and behavior only reinforces the idea that [Obama] is not up for the office.”

One of the things that’s saved Obama in the polls is his high personal approval rating, despite voters disapproval of his handling of, well, everything. With his disgusting gutter “campaigning” as of late, how much longer can those personal approval ratings stay above water?

Among other unprecedented accomplishments, Obama is unprecedented in being the most classless president in my lifetime, which stretches back to the middle of the last century.

His habitual ad hominem attacks are completely unworthy of the office. He is truly frightening in this regard alone and I think the word Nixonian could and should be supplanted by Obamian.

I need to check the rules for radicals. Isn’t name calling and division a tactic to employ as a distraction while you dismantle the country? Isn’t that the real reason Obama gave himself a B+? That was before Obamacare passed. I imagine he feels like he is in solid A territory these days.

It’s not about governance. It’s about the real change he is actually bringing about. Keep praying and fasten your seat belts. It’s gonna be a bumpy ride.

They (the Chamber) thought they would buy some protection by supporting illegal immigration reform, TARP, Obamacare, et al, as well as endorsing Dems for Congress. Maybe they should be more consistent and their primary focus and support things and people who have business’ interests and stop trying to buy influence.

Chamber of Commerce VP: When did Hopenchange turn into fear ‘n smear?

Well, there was similar going on in Germany starting in the early 1930′s and going on until the mid 1940′s when it stopped. It stared out as hope ‘n change and ended up as fear ‘n smear too. It started up again in the United States in 2009. Maybe some kind of cyclic thing. Could be related to Global Warming.

What an unlikely villain the Chamber is. There really is something terribly wrong with obama. I almost hate to say this because it’s been said so often by so many that it’s becoming a mantra. The WH and its people might benefit from several sessions on couch with a good psychiatrist–one that specializes in suicidal personalities. Axelrod is as bad or worse than the President, but you’d think Gibbs would go out and get himself another job. One that does not require so much kissing of the nether regions.I had Gibbs pegged for smarter than his boss, but I guess I was wrong.

Does anyone remember that the White House organized entreprenurial and business opportunity weekends for muslims? They wanted to make sure that the muslims in the U.S. could get a crack at “opportunity and resources” (that reads OUR tax dollars) to start businesses.

This is wrong on so many levels – let’s just start with separation of church and state and misappropriation of tax millions.

And where were Jesse and Al on this? Oh yeah, thay have had their businesses well established for a generation now, – leeching off their “brothas” and using them to make millions for themseleves while teaching them race-hatred, race-hustling and government check collectin’.

Thank you, Bruce Josten, for your forthright and thorough rebuttal of this administration’s and the Dem party’s “fear and smear.” Accusations via unfounded and unsubstantiated innuendo are the hallmark of scoundrels. I am also glad that you identified the source of these attacks, a left-wing blog funded by a left-wing hack. Naming that hack, John Podesta, brings the pus of this boil to the public’s awareness. Your information re how Dem-supportive thugs set upon opposition to legislation was right on the money.

Thank you, too, Brit Hume, for refreshing the public’s awareness re the questionable sources supporting the ObaMao campaign coffers.

Bammie has the typical rabble-view of upper management. They think that management is just a matter of yelling at a few people and signing things put in front of you. That’s the kind of thing Bammie taught when he lectured on Alinsky.

He thought he could put his feet up, party hard, hire all his buds from Chicago and Hahvahd, and they would do the magic. He thought it would be Harvard Law Review all over again. Suddenly he’s got the hardest job in the world and he is in so far over his head that he doesn’t realize he is wet. In the dark when he is all alone, he is bloody terrified.

slickwillie2001 on October 12, 2010 at 10:01 PM

p.s. Brit Hume should have directly addressed the issue in obama’s campaign – that the name and address verification was intentionally disabled by the campaign, allowing for hundreds of millions of dollars to flow to obama without any record of where the money came from. Much of it is suspected to have come from foreign donations.

obama and his campaign violated several Federal statutes and broke the law with impunity.

Brit should speak about that clearly, instead of saying that obama did nothing wrong.

Ed Gillespie is 100% correct in his indictment of Obama. That’s some really hard hitting stuff he said, and you’d think someone who possesses such otherworldly intellect and talents as Obama does would have been smart enough to know that he was inviting such a response.

What Gillespie has said will now become the accepted narrative of Obama because it is so painfully obvious to everyone who hears it.

Here are Gillepie’s quotes:

“Can you imagine former president Bush talking about Bob Shrum?” he laughs. “It is just remarkable that he is so willing to diminish the office. It’s starting to look like the Oval Office is swallowing him up.”

“This kind of rhetoric and behavior only reinforces the idea that [Obama] is not up for the office,” Gillespie says. “It’s just the latest in a long litany of demons that they’ve tried to attack, going all the way back to Rush Limbaugh, John Boehner, Mitch McConnell . . . it’s what they do.”

I remember a story from a book I read when I was a kid titled the “Cross and the Switchblade”. It was a book about tough kids from NYC involved in a gang called the Mau Maus. This one kid thought he was pretty tough and when the gang would fight others, this kid would put a metal garbage can over his head and hold a baseball bag and spin around just swinging at anything in his path, friend or foe. He got quite a reputation for causing a lot of damage as well as being really crazy. Either guys got hit by him, or they’d stand aside and laugh at the stupidity of it. This is what I think of when I see the White House lashing out at their opponents—just a wild thrashing and trashing of anything in their path, with no rhyme nor reason because of it. People think their crazy, they hit some folks, and the end result is that everybody is worse off.

unpresidential.
