Video: The tax-hike strategy session

posted at 12:15 pm on October 8, 2010 by Ed Morrissey

Heritage For America has teamed up with veteran character actor Clint Howard for a series of humorous web videos about the policies that are strangling prosperity.  A few weeks ago, we saw Clint in “Where’s My Congressman?”, which noted the disturbing disappearance of incumbents from public venues.  This week, he appears in “Obama Tax Hikes: What’s Their Excuse?”, in which Clint once again plays a beleaguered incumbent looking for the best possible spin for the massive tax hikes Democrats left on the table when they hurriedly adjourned Congress last month in order to have more time on the campaign trail:

Be sure to check out the district-by-district analysis of the tax hikes and how many jobs it will cost in each.  In my district, the tax hikes will cost $1.3 billion by 2020, 666 jobs next year, and over 1500 in 2012.  But on the plus side, those who lose those jobs will be able to “watch TV all day,” as a staffer says in the video … they just won’t be able to buy the TV in the first place.

Blowback

Nobody proposed Clint just handing out PB&J sandwiches to his constituents?

S/b “putting lipstick on the rats” instead of the pigs.

Imagine all the rats scurrying in the Dem latrine on Nov. 02, 2010.

That the country needs to be saved is one thing, after Nov. 02.

To watch Pelosi/Reid/Obama and their minions, suffer for their destructive impertinence, will be absolutely schadenfreudig.

Pretty girl.

At least we can still enjoy that.

Was that Clint Howard, or just somebody that looks like him?

RBMN on October 8, 2010 at 12:27 PM

That was Clint.
I’d love to be a fly on the wall when he and Ron ‘talk’ politics.
Heh.

I can’t imagine Ron backing Clint on this bit. Ron is a raving Liberal.
So is Clint just doing it for the money??Or is he conservative?
Maybe Clint is the one I should have been a fan of for all these years.

The Baldwin brothers don’t agree on politics so maybe there is hope for Clint Howard.

Clint’s occasionally on Dennis Miller.
He definitely is more…right than Ron.

Clint’s the real deal. He’s a frequent guest on the Hugh Hewitt show.

Also, FYI a very young Clint was “Leon” (always offering up a bite of his PB&J) in the Andy Griffith Show.

aquaviva on October 8, 2010 at 12:37 PM

would it have been better if Clint would have said… “UNEXPECTEDLY”!

I blame…. the Devil! Or Booooosh!

Stephen Baldwin is like Curt Cameron-a religious man.
It’s comforting, no matter how crazy they can be (Curt & Stephen get pretty hot evangelically), to see some in Hollywood become Christians.
All at once proving your environment helps shape you & not just your genes.

It was great. Of course Obama is out there more or less saying this is good because there were “new jobs” created and it’s not his fault it’s not better, waah, waah, waah.

This is a spoof right? Tell me it’s not true.

I love it that Richie Cunningham’s brother is doing these ads after all those Obama ads Richie did with Potsy and Fonzi.

OxyCon on October 8, 2010 at 1:15 PM

You know what’s really nice? Clint was always a weird looking fellow when he was younger, and now he isn’t. He’s finally grown to an age where he looks normal.

Amen to that. Another observation though. Notice how these actors did these ads before the election, but have since gone quiet? Not to say they’re changing parties, but it speaks volumes as to how they might feel about what they propped up, and voted for.

I see a chilly Thanksgiving coming for the Howard clan.

slickwillie2001 on October 8, 2010 at 1:47 PM

I’m convinced that Ron Howard is behind those Obamacare/Medicare is great ads that Andy Griffith is doing. He got Griffith to do a pro-Obama ad with him before the election and the new ads seem too well produced to just be a regular hack.

Or maybe that’s just the only way I can forgive Griffith — kind of like Ron Reagan, Jr., leading his Mom down the Obama road.
