Obamateurism of the Day

posted at 8:05 am on October 4, 2010 by Ed Morrissey

As I mentioned on Friday, this is hardly a motivational rallying cry for anyone, let alone the President less than five weeks ahead of the midterms:

“Now’s not the time to quit…it took time to free the slaves…ultimately we’ll make progress.”

Progress doing what, exactly? Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoonist Michael Ramirez has his suspicions at Investors Business Daily:

Ramirez has a terrific collection of his works: Everyone Has the Right to My Opinion, which covers the entire breadth of Ramirez’ career, and it gives fascinating look at political history.  Read my review here, and watch my interviews with Ramirez here and here.  And don’t forget to check out the entire Investors.com site, which has now incorporated all of the former IBD Editorials, while individual investors still exist.

Got an Obamateurism of the Day? If you see a foul-up by Barack Obama, e-mail it to me at obamaisms@edmorrissey.com with the quote and the link to the Obamateurism. I’ll post the best Obamateurisms on a daily basis, depending on how many I receive. Include a link to your blog, and I’ll give some link love as well. And unlike Slate, I promise to end the feature when Barack Obama leaves office.

Illustrations by Chris Muir of Day by Day. Be sure to read the adventures of Sam, Zed, Damon, and Jan every day!

Progress doing what, exactly?

Peonage is a system where laborers are bound in servitude until their debts are paid in full. Those bound by such a system are known, in the US, as peons.[citation needed] Employers may extend credit to laborers to buy from employer-owned stores at inflated prices.[original research?] This method is a variation of the truck system (or company store system), in which workers are exploited by agreeing to work for an insufficient[original research?] amount of goods and/or services. In these circumstances, peonage is a form of unfree labor. Such systems have existed in many places at many times throughout history.

If PBHO were to wear a stovepipe hat, and you saw him from a distance, and you wore very dark sunglasses, and you squinted, and he was facing away from you, and there was a crowd partially blocking your view, the man would look very much like Lincoln.

Eerie, huh?

He must be talking about the Irish slaves from 1649, and the 5 white Irish slaves killed in 1741 for trying to escape.
Blacks were not the only slaves….Irish, Indians before.
In fact, Indians enslaved other Indians.
Chinese (indentured which the blacks also see as slavery)…and now the middle class, enslaved to the government.

There is a revolution brewing in the country, and it is not just on the right wing but in the radical center. I know of at least two serious groups, one on the East Coast and one on the West Coast, developing “third parties” to challenge our stagnating two-party duopoly that has been presiding over our nation’s steady incremental decline.

Tom Friedman, NYT

The radical center. Bwahaha for political center.

And of that “center” neither is in America’s heartland, but on the fringe coasts east and west.

But of the “stagnating duopoly” of RINO/DINO, no need to explain what remains when the “bipartisans” are no more. Marxism vs. Constitutional Republic–the current contention.

And the Constitution is the ONLY point upon which Americans unite, granted Marxists opting for its corruption and dissolution being Obama’s audacity of hope while the Tea Party confronts progressed government to BE constitutional. Ask a cancer patient to be healed without rescinding the cancer’s cause and progress.

If Obama’s agenda is like freeing the slaves, why stop there? Go on. It’s kinda like stopping the white slave owners from raping their young female slaves. Yeah. A lot like that. This is for every racist white who ever said or even thought the N-word. And you know they thought it. This is payback time.

Paul-Cincy on October 4, 2010 at 9:14 AM

My redneck alter ego is betting 1000 to 1 that the alpha members of this nation will not allow enslavement to advance beyond the liberal-progressive enclaves. From the heartland he says “I’m tired of your sh!t; Bring it on”.

Yoop on October 4, 2010 at 9:22 AM

From the heartland he says “I’m tired of your sh!t; Bring it on”.

Rather, he’s bringing it on via DHS with the lack of border and national security, augmented by authoritarianism abusing the taxpaying/voting citizenry.

We WILL vote. And according to Andrew Breitbart, Obama has accrued massive grounds for impeachment. Those grounds need to be kept updated while the Tea Party rescinds ObamaCare. As Obama vetoes, the impeachment process formally begins to unfold. THAT brings in on.

Slaves to the state and the slackers, slaves to the Unions and big Corporatists.

dhunter, get out the conservative vote, yes.

Marxism is merely authoritarianism enabling the ancient Feudal Order re-established globally, this time literally with no where to go.

So stand the constitutional ground, vote and never quit demanding legitimate efficacy from government officials, that THEY obey the Constitution.

At what point will Obama literally denounce the late Pope John Paul II as a typical white racist?

Pope John Paul II’s 1994 book, Crossing The Threshold of Hope, the “Muhammad?” question states that the Koran offers no redemption and that there is no interaction through self-revelation between God/Allah and the Muslims.

“Whoever knows the Old and New Testaments, and then reads the Koran, clearly sees the process by which it completely reduces Divine Revelation.”

Some of the most beautiful names in the human language are given to the God of the Koran, but He is ultimately a God outside of the world, a God who is only Majesty, never Emmanuel, God-with-us. Islam is not a religion of redemption.

Nevertheless, the religiosity of Muslims deserves respect. It is impossible not to admire, for example, their fidelity to prayer.

Nevertheless, concrete difficulties are not lacking. In countries where fundamentalist movements come to power, human rights and the principle of religious freedom are unfortunately interpreted in a very one-sided way — religious freedom comes to mean freedom to impose on all citizens the “true religion.”

Throughout the media, new along with the old, the Left determines current usage, corrupting content and meaning from vocabulary. I denounce that revisionism, as if self identity within one’s nation is evil. “I’m glad to be an American” is NOT NAZI nationalism or a plague of racism.

NAZI nationalism was the authoritarianism using revisionism to delude the public into accepting empty promises for national prosperity, the public being left holding the bag of grotesque debt and destruction, the loss of an expansionist aggressive globalist war to rule the world. And whatever political parties or political institutions as the UN resemble authoritarianism, I vote against.

maverick muse on October 4, 2010 at 11:42 AM

The only question I have of Libertarians such as Ron Paul R-TX has not to do with explaining how we got where we are, but how to get from where we are back onto Libertarian balanced constitutional government. Time for the same old lectures has expired. Besides, most Americans realize an element of truth from those historical libertarian lectures.

But the need is for a constitutional conservative realistic solution to protect our nation from invasion and to demolish inner governmental corruption.

maverick muse on October 4, 2010 at 11:43 AM

But the need is for a constitutional conservative realistic solution to protect our nation from invasion and to demolish inner governmental corruption.

Otherwise, “prosperity” remains an elitist monopoly as one administration and Congress after another plays on opportunism for personal gain at the expense of taxpayers. Literally, the USA is bankrupt. We’re running on deeper bankruptcy as things progress.

Authoritarians figure that monopolizing business is the easiest way to monopolize the world to eventually get 100% from production one way or another. They abscond with all. With citizenship “belonging to everyone who believes” as potus Obama said, it not only loses all meaning, but brings anarchy on the streets to “require authoritarianism for control”.

We already witness “Rule of Law” mutated into whatever authoritarians say.
