Quotes of the day

“I do, however, think Democrats could end up doing better in November than the polls suggest right now for two big reasons- 1) most races right now have a lot more Democratic undecideds than Republicans and 2) the enthusiasm gap isn’t going to do anything but shrink.
“First a look at the undecideds. We have polled 14 Senate or Gubernatorial races since Labor Day. In 12 of them there are more undecided Democrats than Republicans and it’s usually by a wide margin- the average across those 14 contests is 17% more undecided Democrats than Republicans.
“GOP voters are incredibly unified this year and most Republican candidates don’t have much room to grow with their base over the final month of the campaign. There’s no guarantee that the undecided Democrats will end up coming home but more than likely they will.”

“Memo To: President Obama and the Democratic Party Leadership
“From: Michael Moore
“Subject: 5 Things Dems Can Do to Turn It Around by November 2.
“1. Immediate Wall-to-Wall TV Ads, Internet Videos, and Appearances Hammering Who the Hell Put Us in the Misery We’re In.
We Americans have very short attention spans (Quick: Who Won the Oscar for Best Picture last year? The World Series? Exactly.). People need to be reminded over and over that it was the REPUBLICANS who concocted and led the unnecessary invasion of two countries, putting us in our longest war ever, wars that will eventually cost us over $3 trillion. Bush & Co. also caused the biggest collapse of our economy since the Great Depression. I don’t know a single person in Hollywood who wouldn’t shoot and produce those spots for you for FREE. Dems: Do not pull a single punch on this. Quit being a bunch of wusses and let the bastards have it! The public will be astonished that you’ve found your courage and your spine. We expect you to be Muhammad Ali, not Ally McBeal.
“2. Indict the Criminals.
Announce that the Justice Department will seek indictments against both those who caused the economic collapse and those who became war profiteers. Call it for what it is: organized crime. Use the RICO statutes. Use the basic laws that make fraud of any kind a crime. Get in the face of those who stole the billions, make them pay for it—and the people will love you. We want Dirty Harry, not Dirty Dancing.”

“When presidents get into trouble, they often try to recapture the magic that got them elected in the first place. For Clinton, that meant distancing himself from the left. He began his presidential bid, let’s remember, as head of the Democratic Leadership Council, a group that spent the late 1980s and early 1990s at war with the party’s liberal base. And while he flirted with economic populism, what distinguished Clinton from prior Democratic candidates was his aggressive coopting of conservative themes…
“For Obama, the pattern is largely the reverse. He won the Democratic nomination by running against triangulation. Liberals felt they could trust him because unlike Hillary Clinton and John Edwards, he had ignored the centrist consultants who urged prominent Democrats to back the war in Iraq. (Significantly, Obama kept his distance from the DLC during his brief stint in the Senate). And the campaign really turned in his favor during an October 2007 debate in which Clinton refused to give a straight answer on driver’s licenses for illegal immigrants, thus confirming Democratic voters’ suspicions that she was too politically cautious to take a stand…
“My guess is that with powerful Clinton administration veterans like Summers and Emanuel gone, Obama will try to recapture the anti-establishment mojo he had in his 2008 campaign, and that rather than tacking right, he’ll try to reconnect with his liberal base by demonizing the newly empowered congressional Republicans.”

Obama already IS Left…although some commentators still cling to the “he’s a Centrist” nonsense.
But Barry, you go ahead and take Michael Moore’s advice…hell, just put a hammer & sickle in the middle of our flag!
PUTZ!!

Can we imprison the disloyal propagandists while we’re at it?
And as for teeing up the people who caused this mess, yes, I think reinforcing Frank, Dodd & Obama’s direct role in causing the mortgage crisis is entirely appropriate.

Hilarious. 1) If someone tells you “maybe” they will come to your party shortly before the party, it means they aren’t going to show up. 2) See number 1.

OT: was flipping through channels, msdnc will have special live coverage of the one nation (union/naacp) rally from the lincoln memorial…I’m sure they will be touting that hundreds of thousands of folks attended and it will be less than beck’s rally….funny how they are touting this rally and yet not even comment on beck’s rally until after the event when hundreds of thousands of folks did actually show up….
pathetic….

Go for it! Let’s start with Barney Frank and Chris Dodd. And then let’s “Move on” to Franklin Raines and Jamie Gorelick. Then to all the politicians with oversight responsibilities who took campaign contributions from Fannie and Freddie.

Yeah, that’s the downside of success. When you have 100% market share there’s just so little opportunity to expand the business.

A little perspective; the desperation is almost too embarrassing to watch. But, I’ll sacrifice and continue to watch the coming train wreck. Not that I’ll enjoy it, of course.

Wait, if Bammie sees that he cannot possibly be reelected in 2012, he will go even further left. Look for tyranny by executive order. Bammie will cause the entire executive order process to end up being questioned in the Supreme Court.

Wait a minute, Michael Moore…
You say at one point that it was the REPUBLICANS who got us into two wars, etc, but then you say a few sentences later that it was the centrist Democrats who went along with the war and supported the President.
You can’t have it both ways, Mike. I know you like to have your cake (and my cake, and the guy across the street’s cake, and a cake you found in the trash can) and eat it too, but it’s one or the other. Either it was the Wascally Wepublicans or it was bipartisan with centrist Democrat (like all of the Democrats except Obama) support. Which was it?

During the whole time that Bush was president, the only things that the Left were screaming about was the wars, the Patriot Act, the Florida recount, and what an idiot they thought Bush was. The only Leftists who were complaining vocally about Bush’s economic policies were the likes of Paul Krugman. But to the average Left winger, the economy was way down on the list of their complaints about Bush.
Then the economic crash happens, and Voila! The media instantly creates this false narrative about how it was all due to “de-regulation”, and the Left instantly takes 8 years worth of venomous hatred towards Bush over other issues and tries to make believe that they were always just as angry over his economic policies.
So here’s my question…..Where are the Left wingers who wrote in extensive detail about how Bush’s economic policies would lead to this economic meltdown? If they were out there they’d be as famous as Woodward and Bernstein circa 1974. They’d be on the cover of every magazine with headlines like “If only Bush had listened to this man” or “He tried to warn us, but Bush didn’t listen”.
If Bush’s policies really were responsible for this economic meltdown, and someone could connect all the dots and lay out every single mistake Bush made and what he should have done instead at every turn, there isn’t a person in America who wouldn’t have these details drummed into their heads by the MSM. It would be like Abu Ghrab times 1,000.
So go ahead, fat Mikey, name names, give us the details, retrace every step of where Bush went wrong and who he was misled by. It’s been two years now, and nobody from the MSM has given us any of this info yet. We’re all dying to know.

Is there any way to make Michael Moore explode? Or should we just wait for it to happen naturally?
Akzed on October 2, 2010 at 2:54 PM
This is a problem.
Akzed on October 2, 2010 at 2:56 PM
Or better yet, Mikey, why didn’t you spend the last two years making a movie about the “root cause” of this economic meltdown, that featured you chasing all the guilty evil Republicans who were complicit in this disaster with a movie camera and asking them the tough questions that they refused to answer?
After all, you made Fahrenheit 9/11 for the explicit purpose of derailing Bush’s re-election bid. You timed it’s release perfectly to coincide with the 2004 general election campaign. Why didn’t get off your massive duff and
make sure that, come the 2010 election season, voters would be reminded of exactly how the Republicans screwed up?
Face it, Mikey, Obama needed your help and you let him down. Or maybe, just maybe, you didn’t make that movie for the same reason no one wrote the book. You know, the #1 bestseller that will be required reading for every economics student for the next 500 years, so that no society will ever repeat Bush’s mistakes again. Yeah, that book. It doesn’t exist.
Face it Mikey, all you Lefties ever had was “it’s Bush’s fault, it’s Bush’s fault” and “de-regulation, de-regulation, de-regulation”. It worked two years ago, it won’t work now.

Don’t miss the ‘after’ scenes of the communist rally in DC, up in ‘headlines’. Here’s a good one: Shame
slickwillie2001 on October 2, 2010 at 8:39 PM
Bring it on, leftist Democrat trash. Complete the transformation of your party to a 100% third world party, that would call for jailing political opposition.
Maybe, to raise the irony factor, the little man who’s President could announce such a policy, the next time he’s seated next to Noynoy Aquino. Maybe Lil’Barry could ask him how such a policy works out.
