Video: John Yarmuth’s Greatest Hits!

Hot Air readers will get the first look at the new campaign ad for Todd Lally in Kentucky’s 3rd CD bid to unseat John Yarmuth, who has had a few gaffes over the four years he has represented this D+2 district. Lally effectively uses them in a lighthearted vein in a TV spot that may tickle some funny bones until voters think a little about the quotes and their implications. For instance, Yarmuth admitted that no one thought ObamaCare would cut costs, despite the early rhetoric surrounding the bill, which later changed to “bending the cost curve downward” (and still didn’t succeed). They may also chuckle at Yarmuth’s declaration that “a balanced federal budget is impossible,” knowing that certainly to be true under current management — and perhaps also noting that this Congress hasn’t even bothered to produce a budget, let alone balance one.
But the best probably comes in the beginning, and is emblematic of the Democratic Congress and the Barack Obama White House when Yarmuth asks, “How are we going to pay for all this [the Democratic agenda]?” and answers himself: “I don’t know.” Neither do we, and so maybe we shouldn’t implement it.

Well, at least until the aliens arrive at the UN and teach us the ways of their already assumed superior culture.

Not a bad spot. It almost comes off as not being an attack ad, but does get the message out in a light-hearted manner.

Maybe we can shed some under-performing assets to balance the budget,

The cost of dinner isn’t important, when you hand the bill to someone else…

I’ve met Yarmuth. He’s a snivelling, lying little gungrabbing weasel.
And I use little in the truest sense of the word. He barely comes up to my chin, and I’m 5’11″.

Yarmuth is one of those guys who never would have been elected in a year other than 2006. He was a fifth-string candidate who accidentally won when the bottom fell out for the GOP.
