It may be possible that the DNSC will try to work hard to elect Coons, but it also appears that O’Donnell will have a substantial war chest of her own to work with. This is actually a very good development for the Republicans.

Delaware will not become a cash sink for the Democrats. Since Coons is so transparently liberal, that gives the O’Donnell campaign a huge hammer to swing. This election will be all about the economy. O’Donnell will be able to show the voters that Coons has turned his county into a fiscal disaster area.

Meanwhile, O’Donnell is saying the right things. She is saying that her religion has “matured” and she is taking a softer stance on social issues at the moment. She needs to continue to press the social issues to the backgrounds and stay on message about economic issues where she is a clear winner.

When presented with a tax and spend liberal or a fiscal conservative the voters will forgive O’Donnell for some rough spots just to get rid of the problem that Coons represents toward an economic recovery.

The important factor is for O’Donnell to challenge Coons. If she can do that the Dems will sink money into Delaware. But it is possible for O’Donnell to win despite a huge cash expenditure by the Dems and that will take money away from other races where the Republicans could squeak out a win.

Coons (D) 53%
O’Donnell (R) 42%

Down by 26 points on Tuesday, O’Donnell now down by only 11 points on Thursday… But hey, Rove says we can’t win this seat…

It remains to be seen whether national Democrats will provide a similar level of support for many of their nominees,

My only worry is that there is no election in Delaware for next 4 years? How will this nut eat?

It sounds to me, like the original comment was something that was done by a “traitor” in the NRSC.. and Cornyn got blindsided by the comment as well, ala the McCain staffers who were backstabbing Palin (and in effect McCain) throughout the presidential campaign.

This is not some two-bit backwater House seat though, if Coons gets in trouble the democratics will pour money into DE. Their final triage stage may be to ignore the House and dump everything into Senate races. Agree Coons is weak, but money won’t be a problem for him.

Just checked out her site. She’s got a goal of $750K and they’re at 84% of that. That comes to over $630K now. I don’t think that all came from the residents of Delaware.

Are you kidding? that’s huge! It’s bigger than Delaware’s GDP (I kid you DE!)

add in DeMint’s contribution and she’ll be at a million. I don’t know what Coons has in the bank, but I’ve been looking into him as a candidate and he is incredibly weak. O’Donnell may not be the strongest candidate but even in Delaware I feel she can beat Coons who has copy and pasted his message from the Pelosi playbook and is so far left that delaware will have a choice between the “Ultra Conservative” or the “bearded Marxist”. Even in Delaware, they’ll go with the Ultra Conservative so long as she focuses on fiscal issues and avoid any major gaffes.

If he is the one responsible for that NRSC leak last night, and if he happens to be that “highranking” anonymous source who takes shots at Conservatives like DeMint or the Tea Party candidates in general, then this bum should be fired and in a public way. If the Republicans take over the Senate, I hope the fresh conservative blood will force a changing of the guard.

Palin just made Rove look like a fool…Demint is up next.

Whoah, what was that aboyt DeMint? Palin and DeMint are on the same side, they both endorsed O’Donnell even. Neither one is out to make the other look like a fool and DeMint is doing from the inside what Palin is doing from the outside, he is VERY important.

Steele is wishy washy at best and needs to go.

I have and will continue support for individual candidates.

Whoever is responsible for the release of the statement last night should be disciplined publcly if not outright fired.

That NRSC leak could be a Democratic agent who sold the media whole cloth. But I agree with you, that it definitely came from within the NRSC. And it smacks of the McCain campaign insider saboteurs.

Expose saboteurs of conservatism who “leak” sensitive fabricated evidence to smear a candidate or discredit a research report. Next, the media will repeat ad infinitum as if “fact on the record”.

Manchin was supposedly “A Lock”.

For a supposed “lock” he certainly fell from double digits to a five point lead awfully quick.

There’s gold to be mined in the Mountain State…

Hmmm.. Chris Christie seems to generate a LOT of comments as well, but that might be because the hardware that clanks beneath his trousers. Scott Brown also manages to attract commentary to some degree as well.

Palin, Bachmann, O’Donnell are objectively attractive women, but I believe that their very real triple-D conservatism are the real magnets that many Hot Air readers reach for. They talk the talk and walk the walk.

When more men start behaving like true right of center champions, they will generate a lot of comments as well.
