Obamateurism of the Day

posted at 8:05 am on September 14, 2010 by Ed Morrissey

We’ve commented once before on the many “top priority” issues of Barack Obama, a rhetorical crutch that negates any meaning for the word “priority,” as Chris Good at The Atlantic rightly points out. RightChange marries Obama’s actual words with an animated sequence that is worth a laugh, and a fine addition to the OOTD series:

Obama’s Top Priority from RightChange on Vimeo.

Got an Obamateurism of the Day? If you see a foul-up by Barack Obama, e-mail it to me at [email protected] with the quote and the link to the Obamateurism. I’ll post the best Obamateurisms on a daily basis, depending on how many I receive. Include a link to your blog, and I’ll give some link love as well. And unlike Slate, I promise to end the feature when Barack Obama leaves office.

Illustrations by Chris Muir of Day by Day. Be sure to read the adventures of Sam, Zed, Damon, and Jan every day!

The Obamateurism of the day is my first priority of the day.

ExpressoBold on September 14, 2010 at 8:14 AM

It seems, that Hope/Change has lost Priority!!

canopfor on September 14, 2010 at 8:17 AM

He speaks (and thinks) in cliches. For someone who’s supposed to be ‘articulate’, his vocabulary is so limited that after the first few speeches, he sounds like a broken record.

Barack Obama’s top priority is always the same: Barack Obama.

My top priority is to never watch Obama if I can help it. Well, I fell for it this morning and it was funny. Very little about that man is funny, but this was an exception. Thanks for the laugh!

Remember when his Top Priority was getting a dog?

batterup on September 14, 2010 at 8:43 AM

I seem to remember him giving a speech about he was going to be different and bringing change to Washington was his priority. He wouldn’t speak in “sound bites” and he was the one who could actually change the way things are being done in DC, etc. Reality came up and smacked him in the face, really hard.

Johnnyreb on September 14, 2010 at 8:48 AM

Right Change has a sense of timing that is impeccable. The term Dear Leader was provided at the right time and in its proper context. Well Done.

MSGTAS on September 14, 2010 at 8:52 AM

Cute. In a way, I feel sorry for future celebrities. Cheap and effective animation software means everyone will be getting the Taiwanese treatment. Add in the ubiquitous video cams and every blunder will be preserved and spun for all eternity.

Of course, Teh Won richly deserves it.

cmsinaz:Your right, that would be a great campaign ad,
a montage of “Priorities”!

Great idea!:)

canopfor on September 14, 2010 at 8:58 AM

Thanx for the video, that was funny!

For someone that used to prioritize for others, his priority marketing tool is exactly his problem. FYI for those that don’t know, he also has another priority: A children’s book.

Of course to dig some news that are not published here in the lamestream media I have to go online and read my news in PR; too bad the lame stream media did not make it a priority to put this in their top #1 agenda.

Is it perhaps because this book’s gonna come out swingin’?

ProudPalinFan on September 14, 2010 at 8:59 AM

crazy_legs on September 14, 2010 at 9:03 AM

The last line, “We’re going to have to prioritize,” was the perfect ending.

taznar on September 14, 2010 at 9:03 AM

Buying ice cream and shrimp, and eating waffles are his top priority.

Kissmygrits on September 14, 2010 at 9:04 AM

Its amazing that Obama didn’t name his dog
“Priority”!

He may as well have – Bo? B.O.?

crazy_legs on September 14, 2010 at 9:04 AM

Yep, true dat. BO.

I live next door to BO’s “second cousin”. The Kennedys purchased their Portugese Water Dog from the breeder in my hometown.

If Obama comes here with his entourage, I’m on it!!! :D

ProudPalinFan on September 14, 2010 at 9:07 AM

OTOH, you guy know that that children’s book was NOT a top priority. It was finished in 2008.

Why release it now? Missed that priority, O!

ProudPalinFan on September 14, 2010 at 9:08 AM

My top priority is diving for the mute button when I hear that droning voice on the TV. I’m wondering if it might be possible for a voice recognition program to run quickly enough to make a auto-muter for Bammie.

PS: Here’s the old article on Bammie’s $500,000 childrens book. Just another ‘no story here’ story. He slipped the contract into the period between being a senator and president to avoid problems: Obama’s $500,000 Book Bonanza

Re the link I posted, that appears to be a different book. This USA Today article sorts them out: President Obama’s children’s book, ‘Of Thee I Sing,’ out Nov. 16

The most prolific president evah! I expect scandals in the new year with lefty school districts requiring parents to buy their kids this POS book. Barack Hussein Obama, Mmm-Mmm-Mmm!

slickwillie2001 on September 14, 2010 at 11:14 AM

Haha! Very good!

tinkerthinker on September 14, 2010 at 11:17 AM

That huge head, on that little body seems sooooooo appropriate a description for our narcissistic, narrow minded, self centered, sociopathic, ego maniac of a president.
