Time for another “Chris Christie destroys teachers’ union shill” clip
posted at 7:42 pm on September 9, 2010 by Allahpundit
It’s a bit long and not quite as magical as the last time he destroyed a teachers’ union shill, but in case you haven’t enjoyed any sweet, sweet Chris Christie porn lately, this will set you right. The last two minutes are the highlight, in case you can’t spare nine.
Incidentally, does this help redeem him for his treason to “true conservatism” in endorsing Mike Castle? One of the fascinating things about Christie is that, while he’s building a reputation for being in some respects RINO-ish if perhaps not quite full-blown RINO, his demeanor is completely incongruent with that. Center-right Republicans aren’t “supposed” to be fierce and pugnacious; they’re supposed to be milquetoasts, hesitant about which way to go on issues and willing to broker “six of one, half a dozen of the other” compromises to extricate themselves. This is a guy who, partly through force of personality, will end up making moderate stances on things like immigration more respectable to base voters. Not entirely respectable, but more respectable. A little ‘tude goes a long way!

I watched this earlier today and will reiterate that CC deals in facts, isn’t afraid to speak his mind and NJ will be the better for it. It’s been a long time coming, but as a born and raised Jersey girl, never thought I’d live to see it.

He doesn’t stutter, he doesn’t stammer. There’s not one bit of hesitation on the topic he’s discussing. No one else in the party is remotely close to having that skill. NONE.

I watched the last two minutes and it was a good smackdown against a claim of negative tone. He’s got the good but I’ll reserve total judgment until Christie has more seasoning under his belt.

That, and he said he wanted teachers to take a pay freeze and pay about $750 per year toward their health premiums.
My wife is a teacher here in Texas. She makes less than the average teacher in NJ, pays about $400 towards her health insurance every month, and we don’t yet know if she will be getting a raise this year.

What’s really hilarious and telling though is how the Left keeps throwing him softballs down the middle with their stupid cry-baby talking-points. Who do they test this shite with, their 10-year old children and their friends? No, even 10-year-olds would get it by now. He slams it out each and every time. Why wouldbn’t he? He’s got the facts on his side and by now has developed a kind of awesomely efficient muscle-memory response. Yet the Left, like mewling masochists, keep coming back for more.

Oh no, he’s already getting it. (I was forced to watch MSLSD, by a liberal college professor patient with Muscular Dystrophy a short time ago….he also refused to accept that real working people are already being hurt by the Health Scare too, because he wants to continue to be addicted to pain meds and get his care for “free”, didn’t want to accept that I’m paying for his health care) He didn’t want me back after we “discussed” politics! Fine with me if he didn’t want to be educated to the truth by someone with less then two years of “formal higher education”
:)

Fiscal Gold. Christie may be a “moderate” or downright “liberal” on some social issues. As long as he hits the right fiscal notes, and is this entertaining, I’ll enjoy the vids.

Here’s what it is: He’s not always b@lls to the wall conservative, but he’s honest and stands where he stands. He doesn’t hold the positions he holds because he’s wimpy or going with the political flow. He holds them because he holds them.
Which stands in contrast to the likes of Snowe, Castle, and Crist.

Jim-Rose on September 9, 2010 at 8:37 PM
O.K., about that I agree. Christie has awesome rhetorical bravado, yes, but when pinned, he resorts to wishy-washy-naying. I still think he is best compared to Reagan, as in, Nancy.
Christie, McCain, others like them, they talk tough when they’re campaigning but afterward, they talk more like a Yorkshire Terrier: a lot of barking but then, you can always stomp your foot and they’ll wag their tail.
Though, compared with many of the limp GOP, Christie is at least refreshing. I hope he manages to keep at it but his endorsing Castle isn’t a good start in the right direction.
Lourdes on September 9, 2010 at 8:37 PM
Forthright … yes. I like that.
Conservative … fiscally yes. Overall … yet to be determined.
Meanwhile, I appreciate the battles he’s taking on without a sign of weakness.
ORrighty on September 9, 2010 at 8:38 PM
Yes, so right you are. After Snowe, Castle, Christ, Graham, McCain (includes Meghan) (I bet I spelled that wrong), Collins, Christie is in stark contrast.
Why in the world, though, would ANYone endorse Castle? It just does not make “Right” sense.
Lourdes on September 9, 2010 at 8:40 PM
We TEXANS love this,he does talk funny, but the man can sure call out BS and he don’t need no telly prompter to tell him what to say.

Sigh. He is good.
But he lost me when he wanted Race to the Top funds. Talk about loss of state control and federal takeover.
I don’t get the disconnect. Anybody want to chime in? I used to have a terrific crush on him but I am having an extremely hard time feeling as positive about him. The mandates will put states in further debt. What about that FACT does Christie not understand?
I write a blog about education issues, and believe I have a good grasp on the lay of education land. Race to the Top is control of curriculum and teachers and more taxes. It’s unconstitutional and I don’t get why he wants these funds.

——————————————–
Manatee,
it’s a tough spot to be in. He’s trying to reform the state education system and Race to the Top would’ve required the unions to make several concessions regarding what students are taught as well as added funds to help reduce that 1B shortfall he mentioned in the video. I’d rather we stop federal influence on education altogether, but while it’s there, Governor Christie is trying to use it as a sledgehammer to mold the stubborn teacher’s union into a more malleable group.
This type of fire (in the video) will get the union heated up to the point where the sledge can have an effect.
Now regarding his social stances, ugh, not much you can do there. But I supported Giuliani because he was good for NYC and I support Christie (now) because he’s doing what needs to be done in my home state.
