Obamateurism of the Day

posted at 8:05 am on September 9, 2010 by Ed Morrissey

Er … wouldn’t this introduction have been in Barack Obama’s prepared remarks? Did TOTUS get the day off? Via Ace, the President gets a little confused about which “great state” he was in, and which one Lee Fisher wants to represent:

“The Lieutenant Governor and soon to be junior Senator from the great state of Illinois — er, uh, Ohio. I was thinking about my own, uh … Lee Fisher is here.”

In fairness, Lee Fisher probably has a better shot of winning a Senate race in Illinois than in Ohio — and may have a better chance in winning in Illinois than Alexi Giannoulias.

Got an Obamateurism of the Day? If you see a foul-up by Barack Obama, e-mail it to me at obamaisms@edmorrissey.com with the quote and the link to the Obamateurism. I’ll post the best Obamateurisms on a daily basis, depending on how many I receive. Include a link to your blog, and I’ll give some link love as well. And unlike Slate, I promise to end the feature when Barack Obama leaves office.

Illustrations by Chris Muir of Day by Day. Be sure to read the adventures of Sam, Zed, Damon, and Jan every day!

cmsinaz on September 9, 2010 at 8:10 AM

What I would give for B+HO to be just the Junior Senator from Illinois.

pablo5108 on September 9, 2010 at 8:12 AM

Maybe he is trying to wean himself?

cmsinaz on September 9, 2010 at 8:12 AM

Frightening more than sad. He has no clue how to drive this beast and still he won’t stop playing with the controls.

Crusader Rabbit on September 9, 2010 at 8:14 AM

His media worshipers are crowing “He’s in full campaign mode”. He’s never stopped campaigning since 2008!

Stand up Jack, stand up…oh my goodness…God bless you…let’s give him a hand.

No, really? Say it ain’t so, Barry.

You can take the Illinois politician out of Chicago…

Eh, good thing the Lt. Governor wasn’t a “copse man”.

PBHO looks right back at his notes and you can almost see his mind working: “Da**it!”

Without the teleprompter Obama is an amateur.
Give him a teleprompter and he comes across as a pro.

The real Obama is sans teleprompter.

All wee-weed up. Ready to get fired.

Haley Barbour said the Dems are running from Teh Won like scalded dogs.

Maybe not so much a pro…the TOTUS is clearly visible in that clip. Like he’d go anywhere without his security blanket.

States don’t matter. Thusly, people don’t matter either. All that matters…..is 0ne.

Once in Barry’s Lifetime

You may ask yourself, what is that beautiful white house?

You may ask yourself, where does that highway lead to?

You may ask yourself, am I right, am I wrong?

You may say to yourself, my god, what have I done?

Letting the days go by, as my polls go down down.

Letting the days go by, oil flowing underground.

Into the red again, after the money’s gone.

Once in a lifetime, oil flowing underground.

(With apologies to the Talking Heads)

Exactly. His ego gets in his way everyday

EliTheBean on September 9, 2010 at 8:47 AM

I wonder if the LSM will celebrate Teh Ø’s goofiness like they did Dubya’s. Maybe that thin-skinned, sarcastic presidential wit will keep them in their place.
.
I suspect the White House staff has been alerted to make sure they praise the “great catch, Mr. President” without mentioning that he made the gaffe in the first place.
.
I wonder how lame and forgettable Lee Fisher feels after that less than stellar, garbled introduction from the place-holder president.

ExpressoBold on September 9, 2010 at 8:51 AM

You know why the Mrs. always has that scowl on her face ?? She’s perpetually pissed because one night during sex, at the height of climax, Obozo cried out “Oh Larry, YES !!”

He can’t help himself, his brain is whacked, because Whitney Houston told us that’s how it is.

Jerome Horwitz on September 9, 2010 at 8:53 AM

The really scary part about ’12 is not Zero getting reelected, it’s Hillary getting elected instead.

Kissmygrits on September 9, 2010 at 8:53 AM

Kissmygrits on September 9, 2010 at 8:53 AM

I can’t believe the country would make the same mistake they did with Obama.

She’s an unaccomplished, unqualified, ideological, ignorant woman who is incapable of listening to other or of learning anything.

She’s a worthless incompetent and corrupt to boot.

True, Portman is up by 13 points over Fisher and Kasich is up by 12 over Strickland. The only way the Dems will have a chance is if they can utilize the early voting ballots they mailed out to their base…especially in the Cleveland and Youngstown areas.

No way! If all is lost on the GOP front, I’d sleep much better at night with Pres. Hillary than 4 more years of an Obama nightmare.

Name one thing she has over him.

Not that I like him, but she’s every bit as bad and possibly worse, don’t be fooled.

Just imagine the cast of characters a second Clinton White House would give us.

Absolutely revolting. Might as well have a second Obama term then get Hillary in 2012.

Pinnochio should resign as POTUS and run for Mayor Daleys seat in Chicago. The State that gave us this lyin “Cousin Eddie” should have to suffer the thiefs ignorant ways, the rest of us should not!

I no he won’t. Why would ya resort to robbin gas stations after being successful at robbin banks, besides “Cousin Eddies” don’t work they vacation on someone elses dime!
