Iran paying Taliban $1000 per American soldier killed?
posted at 1:30 pm on September 5, 2010 by Ed Morrissey
This story can’t possibly be true. After all, as we all know, the Shi’ite theocracy in Iran would never support a Sunni organization like the Taliban or al-Qaeda, or vice-versa … right? Right?
Iran is paying Taliban fighters $1,000 for each U.S. soldier they kill in Afghanistan, according to a report in a British newspaper.
The Sunday Times described how a man it said was a “Taliban treasurer” had gone to collect $18,000 from an Iranian firm in Kabul, a reward it said was for an attack in July which killed several Afghan government troops and destroyed an American armored vehicle.
The treasurer left with the cash hidden in a sack of flour, the newspaper said, and then gave it to Taliban fighters in the province of Wardak. In the past six months, the treasurer claimed to have collected more than $77,000 from the company.
The Sunday Times said its investigation had found that at least five Kabul-based Iranian companies were secretly passing funds to the Taliban.
Actually, it turns out that Islamists of different stripes see this rather pragmatically:
“We don’t care who we get money from,” the treasurer was quoted as saying. He described the relationship with Iran as a “marriage of convenience.” Iran is a predominantly Shiite country, while the Taliban is dominated by Sunni Muslims.
“Iran will never stop funding us because Americans are dangerous for them as well. I think the hatred is the same from both us and Iran. The money we get is not dirty. It is for jihad,” the treasurer told Amoore.
It’s been a while since Barack Obama proclaimed that he would meet with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad “without preconditions.” Will he insist that Iran stop funding the Taliban based on a bounty system for dead Americans, at least?

Shouldn’t be hard to prove or disprove this story.
If true — and I suspect it is — we should level Tehran. Just for starters. And do it in a single series of airstrikes, not get bogged down in a Bush/Obama-style ground war that sacrifices American lives to protect collateral targets.
Let Osama Obama meet with Mad Mahmoud’s corpse if he’s so hot to be buddy-buddy with yet another terrorist. And if the Traitor-in-Chief doesn’t have the Dangling Courage Units to protect America, which he doesn’t, it’s time to impeach him and move right down the line ’til we find someone in this godforsaken government who actually cares about America.

Given our nations unfriendly status to each other I don’t technically blame them for doing such but it’s far past time we returned the favor back to Iran and made their job (if by “job” theirs is build a nuke and threatening the region) a lot more difficult.
Yakko77 on September 5, 2010 at 2:27 PM
That’s why Russia helping Iran makes no sense IMO. They’re so eager for Cold War II that they’ll aid a nation ruled by radical Islamists in getting a nuke when the Russians themselves have been victims of radical Islam. We should be working together to fight this crap but Russia is being run by a bunch of ex-KGB types who want a rematch so…..

OT but very strange…
http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/manhattan/mosque_was_steal_FpzwdRCdb5MdehzkDDWY3H
The original owners of the Ground Zero mosque site mysteriously spurned dozens of higher bids before selling the prime downtown real estate at a bargain-basement price.
The Pomerantz family, which had owned the building since the late 1960s and fielded offers after the patriarch died in 2006, rejected at least one bid that was nearly four times what prospective mosque builder Sharif El-Gamal eventually paid, The Post has learned.
New York developer Kevin Glodek was livid when he found out the building sold for a fraction of what he offered in 2007 — $18 million cash
But the Pomerantz family — for reasons that remain unclear — rejected the offers.
They took 70 percent less from El-Gamal than what Glodek offered.

I firmly believe that the use of nuclear weapons on Iran is called for. The state sponsored religious leaders lead the people in cries of “death to America” every freakin’ Friday. Add this to the FACT that the scumbags are developing nukes and the means to deliver them and it’s clear to me that the threat they present to the free world and the US in particular must be eliminated swiftly and with minimal loss of life…our life, our lives.
The innocent that stand with the wicked will share their fate. If the people of Iran will not rise up and take their lives back…if they will allow the Mad mullahs to initiate Armegeddon to facilitate the coming of the 12th imam then they will suffer the same fate as those madmen.
When weeds and wheat are in the field you plow it all under. One cannot separate the two. Men have feet and can remove themselves from the presence of the weeds. Those that can flee should and soon.

In any event, I say “fine”. Now let’s start incentivizing our own troops by giving them, say, $1.5k/Taliban terrorist confirmed KIA/captured, $2.5k/al-Qaeda terrorist confirmed KIA/captured, and $3k for every Iranian confirmed KIA/captured that’s associated with an organization like the Quds Force/Revolutionary Guard, Joint Committee for Special Operations, the Ministry of Intelligence and Security, etc. I say that’d be a good use for those unspent “stimulus” funds, as opposed to make-work, like ‘road improvements’. Hell, that’d probably serve a dual-purpose of a recruitment boom, too.

This is the Truman Doctrine at work. The ChiComms sent armies across the Yalu River and we never disturbed their staging areas. The French behaved the same way in Algeria. NVA divisions owned eastern Cambodia and we insisted it was neutral. Compared to these precedences, this is chump change.
We need a president who will say that there will be consequences for aiding our enemies, that will say that we will take you seriously if you declare war on us.
Nixon, for all his liberal leanings, tried and attacked the NVA in Cambodia. He retreated in the face of the left and media opposition. A lot of good it did him; they still took his scalp.

Of course Obama will not give a rats a$$ about it. Iran has his approval on anything they want to do while putting on the dog and pony show for the world. They are his ace to solve the middle east peace problem with Israel, if he fails. that was shown by his comment upon learning that China has built a missle factory for Iran.
