Video: Chris Matthews reveals “tough, watertight” plan to get America back on track

posted at 9:44 pm on September 3, 2010 by Allahpundit

Via Newsbusters. I don’t want to spoil the surprise, but Mike Bloomberg and “communications pizazz” both figure prominently.

Is Bob Gates, of all people, really one of the weak links in this administration? Bob Gates?

Laugh if you want but I think Tingles may be onto something here. Think about it, Hillary for SecDef. She has combat experience, you know dodging sniper fire on battlefields around the world so she’s a natural. Bloomberg for Treasury too since he’s rich and would immediately ban transfats and salt which would go over big in places like Alabama, Mississippi and Georgia. Like he said “Watertight”. //snarcasm definitely not off yet.

Oldnuke on September 4, 2010 at 6:49 AM

Tingles is a mental patient. And I can smell the booze on his breath through my television.

sbvft contributor on September 4, 2010 at 7:32 AM

That’s his plan? Really? Who would he put over at State…maybe have Obama do his own bowing and scraping in person? And does he even understand the jobs of Secretaries of State and Defense? Why does he think it’s SecDef’s job to make other countries feel good? And just how many more question marks can I put in this comment?

A liberal buddy of mine says even libs don’t take Matthews seriously. I just might believe him now.

flipflop on September 4, 2010 at 7:41 AM

Will someone list the accomplishments of Clinton as Secretary of State?

rob verdi on September 4, 2010 at 7:44 AM

Obama’s “

vision of leadership

” ? More like ILLUSION of leadership. Illusion of competence, Illusion of intelligence….

Chrissy and his friends … still using REPUBLICAN presidents as the standard. (Reagan, Lincoln…)

stenwin77 on September 4, 2010 at 7:47 AM

Ooooh. Tingles knows a military term; “shakedown cruise”. He must have expertise, huh? Hillary as SecDef? Friend of Israel? Oh yeah, I forgot she has Jewish ancestors and has always been a Yankees fan. Also, Tingles makes it sound like Barry isn’t the boss/POTUS his COS is. What can Bloomberg make Barry do different? Tell us specifically please. Baker made Reagan a success? Blah, blah. This is the kind of total garbage that we used to have to listen to before FOX News, conservative talk radio and the internet blogs. It was all meaningless garbage, all the time from the MSM. Some talking head spouts off about this person and that as being the solution. No resume, no bona fides noted to show they qualify. Just take my word for it nonsense. Chris, you are sooo yesterday.

JimP on September 4, 2010 at 8:09 AM

Isn’t this Hillary he speaks of using to reassure Israel the same one who embraced and kissed Suha Arafat, wife of the head of the PLO?

DaMav on September 4, 2010 at 8:19 AM

The liberal media meatheads, like Matthews have run out of excuses for this inept government THEY anointed. Instead of vetting Obama, the liberal media was so “in love” with the idea of an “articulate” and well spoken candidate, they completely ignored the intelligence factor. Obama quickly understood the job was far above his paygrade, hence the creation of Czars and commissions, (or any other group that can take the heat for mismanaged or inept policies).

Any “experienced” AND successful CEO will surround himself with quality experts based of their previous track records— and using results oriented solutions. Obama has surrounded himself with the worst of both worlds—politically driven hacks with little or no experience in profit driven enterprises, AND a totally engulfed obligation to the public workforce, (unions and over bloated government bureaucracies). Thus, we are stuck with liberal ideologues hell bent on social engineering (who believe they have an unlimited checking account), feeding the pigs with no intention of ever harvesting the meat.

Obama’s current “window dressing” of his foreign policy decisions are a joke. After spending the best part of his tenancy apologizing to the world for American exceptionalism, he suddenly expects “other nations” to bow down and accept his vision of world peace. (Note to the President: You’ve already cashed that check)

Morons like Matthews are just as delusional as rest of the liberal meathead media, who can’t understand why puppets can’t dance on their own.

Rovin on September 4, 2010 at 8:49 AM

Why does he think it’s SecDef’s job to make other countries feel good?
flipflop on September 4, 2010 at 7:41 AM

He’s obviously mistaken. We already know that making other countries feel good is NASA’s job — or at least it is when those other countries are Muslim countries.

AZCoyote on September 4, 2010 at 8:58 AM

Hey, Beau Tingles, let me make this very clear. You’re in need of help, mental help. Please get back on your meds.

Wills on September 4, 2010 at 9:02 AM

Rats, I can’t view the video for some reason but I’m pretty sure it would be just like the Saturday morning cartoons I used to watch as a kid. I feel bad for whoever is in charge of this show, he must just cringe and grab the Alka Seltzer every time Chrissy opens his mouth.

scalleywag on September 4, 2010 at 9:07 AM

making other countries feel good is NASA’s job

Hahahahahaha.

scalleywag on September 4, 2010 at 9:08 AM

I like how the runner under the video says …

“Obama needs to build a new team.”

Because I can’t think of a more damning statement of Obama as a leader. Any decent leader should be able to put together a decent team that will last more than 18 months. Sure – you’re going to make a few bad personnel decisions – and who doesn’t?

But … in Obama’s case – he’s missed the mark entirely for the team in the aggregate. He has built a completely in-experienced and dysfunctional team that seems unable to understand or keep up with facts and figures as they unfold and who – it would appear, have only one answer for the economy …

“SPEND MONEY … SPEND IT ANYWHERE!

Does Obama need a “new team”???

Whoa boy – YES he does but …

A new Team isn’t going to fix much when the HEAD COACH is complete dolt who’s stuck hopelessly on the left side of the learning curve.

HondaV65 on September 4, 2010 at 9:09 AM

Imbecile. And he’s a serious challenge to Greta Van Susteren for the newscaster with the most horrendous diction ever.

Dopenstrange on September 4, 2010 at 9:12 AM

Yea, because Hillary has done such a remarkable job in her current post and New York is in terrific shape financially. What? He really is delusional. Airtight, now that’s funny.

scalleywag on September 4, 2010 at 9:16 AM

Maybe some of us should write to Matthews or MSNBC to tell them how brilliant an idea Tingles put forth.

Now that he got the more visible and more important WH jobs out of the way, he can concentrate on other minor functions.

/just for giggles

Sir Napsalot on September 4, 2010 at 9:18 AM

Dopenstrange on September 4, 2010 at 9:12 AM

hoosiermama on September 4, 2010 at 9:18 AM

I can’t think of a more damning statement of Obama as a leader.

You got that right. He doesn’t need a new team, we need a new leader.

scalleywag on September 4, 2010 at 9:19 AM

Isn’t Hillary Clinton the same person that Chris Matthews and his fellow talking heads on the networks threw under the bus for Obama. Isn’t Hillary Clinton also the same person when First Lady did not know how files turned up in the living quarters of the White House. Remember the Travelgate scandal and the Whitewatergate scandal that the Clintons were involved in. Remember how she stonewalled when before the Grand Jury. Remember how she dodged bullets at an airport in Bosnia, Oh, never happened just another lie.
Bloomberg endorses the Mosque- is against investigating the funding of the Mosque. Has increased taxes on the people of New York City. This man could not shine the shoes of Jim Baker.
It would take an Act of God to make Obama even come within miles to reach the stature of Ronald Reagan
To Chris and his fellow liberals- these two are their kind of peope. God help us all!

Who does he think he is, some sort of adviser to the president? Does he think Mr. President watches his show and wonders what the great Hardball host thinks about his cabinet choices? If your plan is “tough and watertight” what does that say about the president’s plan, eh Chrissy?

scalleywag on September 4, 2010 at 9:29 AM

Where’d that link some from!?!

Let’s try that again:

“Artful in presenting issues…”

Chris is good for an occasional laugh these days, but if it weren’t for the exposure sites such as this one give him, nobody would know the man exists.

Chris is a typical Liberal man; whiney sissy in tights.

Keemo on September 4, 2010 at 9:30 AM

Good grief. I realize nobody actually watches MSNBC anymore, but is there any reason they should be running this moron as opposed to making a few bucks with infomercials? I’d say he’s disconnected from reality, but the dis- implies he was at once connected. Matthews is a comet of reality . . . detritus perpetually circling in the vacuum of space, occasionally drawing near only to zoom out into the abyss again.

Tingles, you’re a self admitted Socialist. Why on God’s green earth would I be interested in ONE DAMN THING you have to say? The only thing good that’s really happened to this country over the last ten years is that all you socialists in the media have exposed yourselves for the true Statist/Progressive Marxists you all are.

This is what the inside of a Dem Death Spiral looks like.

faraway on September 4, 2010 at 9:59 AM

If pleasing Israel is the goal, why not appoint the Rabbi at the Temple down the street from my house as SECDEF? Matthews displays what’s really wrong: his goal if making Dem’s look good, not doing what’s good for the country. The real answer is neutralizing Obama (who, in spite of Matthews’ claim is brilliant, hasn’t show anything but bumbling), until we can fire him in ’12.

Great idea. Let’s add another condescending, fascist snob to to sell the same bag of crap in a new wrapper.

So in other words, the way to solve the administrations problems (not necessarily the countries problems) is to shuffle the deck chairs.

Things are looking better for November every day.

Hey Cwissy Lickspittle, pres-i-dent has 3 syllables. I realize you believe Barack Hussein Obama to be a personal gift to you – your “present” – but your personal Lord and Savior is your pres-i-dent, not your frakkin’ present.

Watertight.

We have a gaping hole in the hull, Crissy, and water is rushing in.

Chrissy “Tingles” Maffews leads the way with a new Øbummer protection scheme – he’s had bad advice not bad policy-making! That’s right, Chrissy, Teh Won is not a Ø, he just plays one in front of millions of American citizens on TV and in the media!

How does this guy have a show?

True, Obama does need a better team. But, Obama has shown he will only surround himself with sycophantic idiots, which precludes appointing anyone with any skill and/or talent.

So, that leaves, what? 2012? Seems like.

Live in a cave like the elves until 2012. (ok, it doesn’t quite rhyme.)

Pablo Snooze on September 4, 2010 at 12:29 PM

George Burns used to say it’s too bad the people who could solve the world’s toughest problems are stuck working full time cutting hair and driving cabs.

Having heard his solution, I’m finally GLAD Chris Matthews works full time reporting…

JPlunket on September 4, 2010 at 2:05 PM

I can only repeat what most have said here. It’s obvious Obama’s agenda for our still great country. He wasn’t lying when his campaign statement of”We’re five days away from fundamentally changing America.”… That my friends was the final straw for me! Most folks simply were too engaged in the roaring moment to single that statement out and understand the magnitude of such language. He was serious! That’s exactly why he’s surrounded himself with the one’s he has…they are the most studied people on these instructions of achieving his agenda. It’s dangerous, and it’s in high gear. In his short time in office he has accomplished a lot to move the country in the direction he desires. It must be stopped before it’s too late. I beg you America loving people to do your part to help stop this person who is not a part of the America I know. He nor his advisors are from the true America from coast to coast. They are a product of being raised in government,no small business experience, and Obama himself, whether natural born or not, has spent WAY too much of his critcal years learning anti-American ways. For me, just by the nature of his upbringing is not qualified to hold the highest office in the land simply because I feel that office should be held by someone with an outstanding, unwavering, love and conviction for this land, not apologizing for America’s evil ways! it’s sickening and I hope and pray we can stop any further destruction from his actions! IT’s SERIOUS MY FELLOW AMERICA LOVERS!!!!!!

SukieTawdry on September 4, 2010 at 3:32 PM

Dakoto –GOTV! Enlist four friends, get each to take at least one person to the polls who might otherwise not vote. And I’m not talking about any liberal friends you might have, of course.

This is something each of us can do –really, what we are OBLIGED to do– to put our country back on the right track. The sacrifice of others provides us the method –we must use it, or we’ll lose it.

JPlunket on September 4, 2010 at 4:16 PM

Will do JPlunket! You know… folks that don’t keep up with good news sources unfortunately don’t understand what’s going on right now. I’ve been guilty of the same thing in the past when it wasn’t this serious. No matter what party the POTUS was associated with, we could usually just get by and hope for better next go-round. BUT!! Not this time! This one is critical! 8 years of this would push us beyond the point(possibly). I know I don’t want to find out. At least we have hope in November. I just hope if the new crew in the congress can do great things without BO getting all the credit, giving him fuel for re-election. At least we can stop the anti-American, or the destruction of America as we know it.

Dakotobol on September 4, 2010 at 3:31 PM

You used a lot of words, but said nothing. This could have been written about George Bush (either one), you were so general in your choice of words. When you write, you should use specific terms, to describe the nature of “his agenda”. What is it specifically that bothers you about Obama? You didn’t say, but asked us all to take action. Did you want random action? Does entropy count? How about breathing?

It is clear we need to take steps to undo Obama’s damage to our economy and governmental structure, to move away from a centralized, top-down government based on socialist philosophy, and to severely cut federal spending. We must do this by challenging the commerce clause interpretation in the Supreme Court, which will allow the elimination of most federal regulations. I could go on and on, but I think we know the specific actions we need to take.

stonemeister on September 4, 2010 at 8:54 PM

Hissy Chrissy has established a new milestone for being patently offensive.

Hillary Clinton as Secretary of Defense?! A scumbag with a history of disrespect for the armed forces, as well as the Secret Service, and absolutely no military experience. That’s what Chrissy thinks we need as Secretary of Defense?! A woman that probably hasn’t even watched E-Ring or the Unit? And she’s supposed to have this ‘instinctive’ care for Israel? Is that why she was front and center criticizing them, just recently, supporting Obama’s boorish, churlish, childish, ignorant behavior towards Bibi? The same scumbag that stood by and said NOTHING while Palestinian scum lied about Israel poisoning their damned kids?!

And Bloomberg. What can be said about this weak, spineless dhimmi that thinks that there should be a Ground Zero mosque, to commemorate the victory of Islam over the Great Satan in Manhattan? And isn’t he the same jackass that has YET to admit that the bomb found in Times Square was the result of terrorism, from a CAPTURED TERRORIST? No, instead, he wants to blame it on hypothetical person that’s dissatisfied with ObamaCare. It couldn’t possibly be a guy with a rag on his head, out to murder thousands. Why, what’s the likelihood of someone like that causing trouble in an egalitarian, cosmopolitan metropolis like New York?

No wonder Mark Levin calls Hissy a worthless, slobbering drunk. He’s a sweaty turd and the typical liberal white man racist. Matthews is a worthless, sweaty turd filled with ideas that are just as bad for America as Obama is, showing his own contempt and hatred for the American People and the American Way.

Dakotobol on September 4, 2010 at 10:34 PM

Two points:
1. Invest in a dictionary. Your message is practically undecipherable.
2. You may know what you’re talking about, but “get some everday American shit done” has no specific (or any other kind of) meaning. What the eff are you talking about?!? What do you propose we do? Do you even have a point? Do you want us to go fishing? Do you want us to jump up and down? If not, I’ve eliminated two things. Can you be any more specific? And before you answer, refer to item #1.

Nice to see that Chrissy has some notions about how to get those deck chairs in order on the SS Obama. As an American who is thoroughly disgusted with Obama and his reprehensible crew of America-bashing, socialist ideologues, part of me would love to see the president take this sniveling toady’s advice– Hillary as SecDef just to show Israel we care? That might make another solid nail in the Dem’s electoral coffin. On balance, however, I think Obama has done enough to insult and demean America’s armed forces. Hillary Clinton in the Pentagon is just beyond the pale.
I’m looking forward to the next two elections, and to hearing Chris Matthews, in his inimitable blend of ignorance and condescension, explaining how America just wasn’t good enough for these wonderful Dems.
