Coulter: Obama’s not a Muslim, he’s an atheist
posted at 7:59 pm on September 1, 2010 by Allahpundit
If so, he’d better keep it covered up. As I reminded you recently, there’s only one thing worse poll-wise for a politician to be than Muslim.
Alternate headline: “Good news: Obama finally right about something.”
But according to North Korean TV’s Chris Matthews, it is a provable, scientific fact that Obama is a Christian because he says so. “Everybody watching right now,” Matthews said to his several viewers last week, “gets credit for being of the religion you say you are. … We accept that in America. It’s called freedom of religion and respect for religion.”
That would make professions of religious belief, unlike all other self-professions, unchallengeable. Liberals say conservatives don’t believe in civil rights. I say liberals are godless traitors. Why is one statement debatable and the other not?
Doesn’t anyone question the Christianity of Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker? How about the Satanists claiming to be Christians who stand outside soldiers’ funerals with signs that say “God Hates Fags”?…
Tip O’Neill used to question President Reagan’s Christianity all the time, taunting the president for not attending church regularly. Matthews might remember that: He was working for O’Neill at the time…
All liberals are atheists. Only the ones who have to stand for election even bother pretending to believe in God.
Lots of fun at the link, including a killer final line, some obligatory Clinton-bashing, and the outrageously outrageous claim that anyone who endured 20 years of Rev. Wright’s sermons simply must be among the godless. Which is cute, but (a) take it from me, a real atheist wouldn’t have lasted five minutes and (b) it’s been an open question for awhile now just how often The One endured those sermons. Remember this piece from Newsweek in the heat of Campaign ’08?
As young marrieds, Barack and Michelle (who also didn’t go to church regularly as a child) went to church fairly often—two or three times a month. But after their first child, Malia, was born, they found making the effort more difficult. “I don’t know if you’ve had the experience of taking young, squirming children to church, but it’s not easy,” he says. “Trinity was always packed, and so you had to get there early. And if you went to the morning service, you were looking at—it just was difficult. So that would cut back on our involvement.”
After he began his run for the U.S. Senate, he says, the family sometimes didn’t go to Trinity for months at a time. The girls have not attended Sunday school.
And of course the trend continued as president. None of which I offer in order to question Obama’s religion, mind you, but merely to note — as I’ve noted before — that devotion varies from individual to individual among Christians as it does among believers of all faiths. In fact, read this piece by Charles Lane at WaPo making the same point I made a few days ago about The One’s surprising “bitter/clinger” explanation for Glenn Beck’s rally. Maybe he didn’t know that the rally was religiously themed, but if he did know, it’s odd that a fellow believer would explain a spiritual event in terms of economic anxiety. Clearly, as Lane says, there’s a heaping helping of “historical materialism” in the mix of Obama’s philosophy along with Christianity. Note to The One: Join us.

But that aside, Coulter’s got some pretty unassailable logic in her arguments there. Well played, madame.

Sure he would. He had political ambitions and recognized that getting in with the “black church” was a way to further those ambitions. Trust me, Allah, there are a lot of people who go to church for reasons other than to worship God.

I am more than willing to believe that Mr. Obama didn’t frequent the church that often, but then I didn’t establish Rev. Wright as a father figure, mentor and responsible for bring him to Jesus in an autobiography either.

He believes in his leftwing ideology and in himself. That’s about it. And saying they’re muslims is silly and makes us look ridiculous to people who think. I am so incredibly disappointed in people on the right who push such nonsense. They’re intent on just pushing anything that sounds bad for him regardless of whether it is true or whether they believe it. That is despicable.

Sometimes I’m confused about what is a quote and what is not… but Allah are you proselytizing atheism? Wow that is just evil.
Okay so evil guy, I think Obama is a Marxist… and I think he believed in the Liberation Theology stuff at least at the time he wrote his book and mentioned collective salvation. Marxism and Liberation Theology are pretty nearly the same and neither of them really involves God much.
I don’t think Obama is an Atheist. I just think he is too intellectually lazy to care.

Obama’s religion is politics. He is whatever he is told to be by his handlers. At some point, it was made clear to him that he needed to mainstream (become a “Christian”) to be electable. His political partners introduced him to Wright. As a presidential candidate, he had to distance himself from that nutjob to be electable. Now he’s POTUS and doesn’t need to pretend to be anything any longer; there’s nothing else to run for.
He’s an atheist.

It’s my theory too. I’ve never thought Obama believed in anything but himself. There was an interview with the religion reporter of one of the newspapers in Chicago where Obama defined sin as doing something against himself. I would imagine it was linked here at Hot Air at one time or another, but if anyone really wants to read it, I’ll see if I can run it down again.

It’s understandable. He feels that — though his advisers told him that the stimulus, the auto bailouts, and health care reform would lift his numbers — they have not. I don’t think the Trinity Church is an evangelistic, biblical kind of church that truly believes in personal salvation through Jesus Christ. It’s more of a progressive, “social justice” kind of church. Also, remember that Rev. Wright was once a muslim himself. Frankly, I think the influence of being a member of Trinity Church really fit in with Obama’s political aspirations; it had nothing to do with genuine spirituality of any sort. I’m not convinced that Obama is an atheist – I think he just doesn’t give much thought to the Divine. Perhaps “Secular Progressivism” best describes his “religion.”
He is certainly not a muslim, at least not a very good one.
Logic on September 1, 2010 at 8:39 PM

Luke 16:13 No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other.

When Obama needs to be a churchgoer in order to fit in among constituents in Chicago, he’s a churchgoer.
When he needs to be “eh, not so much” in the churchgoing department (as in when he needs his liberal base’s votes), he’s at home reading the Sunday papers.
When he wants to highlight his Muslim background, he does so.
It’s all of a piece and entirely subject to political expediences. Atheism (as a byproduct of his red diaper upbringing and secular humanism) is as plausible as anything else.

I think this is a bogus take on Obama. If he and his wife were at all involved in Wright’s church and with other members of Wright’s church, they knew darn well was going on in that church from Sunday to Sunday. Word of mouth among members communicating Wright’s message of hate surely made Obama aware of Wright–not to mention his supposedly intimate contact with Wright.
At any rate, I’m not sure what he is, but his attendance at Wright’s church convinces me that he’s not a Christian. I think Obama simply co-opted affiliation with that church to give him Chicago cred, and he now purports to co-opt Christianity to shove Christians’ faces in it and to (incorrectly) use it as support for his nonsense social-justice worldview.

So lemme get this straight :
1. Obama’s biological dad was a muslim.
2. Obama Sr married a woman who was not muslim, but must have converted to islam to make her marriage legal in the eyes of Obama Sr’s family , religion and community.
Every muslim who marries a non-muslim is supposed to convert the spouse to islam, for the marriage to be valid under sharia.
3. Obama Sr ‘s rest of the family is muslim, both in kenya
( including grandma Sarah who won an all expense paid haj for her family , courtesy saudi royals , followed by a trip to libya to meet Q-daffy) and over here ( the illegal auntie etc).
4. Obama’s mama later married another muslim, and moved to indonesia. Same sharia law applies to that marriage too.
There is no way that 2 muslim men married her and she did not convert to islam.
5. Hussain was then registered as a muslim in a school in indonesia.
6. Hussain never renounced islam.
7. He is a protege of Fairy Khan and Wright and Said and Khalidi , luvs anything islamic and goes out of his way to provide aid and comfort to islamic terrorists, diverts US taxpayer money to rebuild mosques around the world and fund muslims through NASA and Dept of Agriculture funds, lifts ban on muslim brotherhood terrorists, tries to deport a hamas guy who converted to Christianity, releases USS cole bombers, tries to sabotage the trial of KSM , sends Gitmo terrorists to fancy islands, fills up his administration with muslims, conspires with Rauf to build the terromosque @ G-0 (just as koran says ), is scared by Christmas trees ( in WH, so runs away to celebrate ashura instead), always goes to martha’s vineyard during ramadan, bows to the Saudi king , sends Code pinkos to provide taliban with direct access to him, sends his terrorist mentors to organize marches and flotillas to Gaza, disses Isreal and Bibi as long as it doesn’t effect his poll numbers and coffers,
gives speeches to muslims echoing the history of the world as taught in madarrasas , finds every reason to malign our country in favor of the muslim doctrine, stays out of the Iranian demonstrations for democracy so as not to upset the mullahs, doesn’t prosecute the muslim WH gate-crashers , has always been funded by suspicious muslim money for his education and elections…….
Nope ..he is no muslim.
Now if we could get the records of his mom’s conversion to islam, which I’m pretty sure must have happened …because its the koranic way….

I believe Bammie is a Marxist first, before any religion. If that makes him an atheist, fine. It’s been a couple of years now, and still no critical look by the liberal media at the so-called ‘religion’ of Black Liberation Theology. No PBS specials. No Time magazine special editions on BLT. I believe that BLT is Marxism.
FTA: “As young marrieds, Barack and Michelle (who also didn’t go to church regularly as a child) went to church fairly often—two or three times a month. But after their first child, Malia, was born, they found making the effort more difficult.”
We can hope that it was because she realized that exposing children to the vicious rantings of Jeremiah Wright border on child abuse. Am I naive to think that perhaps she had that much common sense?
