Sweet: House Dems given permission to attack Pelosi in ads?

posted at 10:05 pm on August 27, 2010 by Allahpundit

No hard evidence here, just Politico reading the tea leaves, but it’s likelier true than false. The One’s been telling congressional Democrats for weeks that he’ll do whatever they want him to do to improve their chances in the fall, including staying away from their districts. If Blue Dogs making the odd joke about Pelosi falling down the stairs helps preserve a Democratic majority, hey.

Facing a perilous political environment that has left the House Democratic majority in jeopardy, Van Hollen told reporters in a briefing at the National Press Club that the party faces a series of difficult decisions about which candidates to invest in this fall — and whom to leave behind.

“At the end of the day, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee will look at races we can win,” Van Hollen said…

He also indicated that Democratic leaders had given vulnerable members permission to distance — and in some cases outright criticize — House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in campaign ads, as Indiana Rep. Joe Donnelly, Pennsylvania Rep. Jason Altmire and North Carolina Rep. Mike McIntyre all have done.

“I think the Democratic leaders have said the job of the members is to reflect the views of their constituents as best as they are able,” he said.

Remember, the only reason the final vote on ObamaCare was as close as it was is because Pelosi freed vulnerable Dems to vote against it in order to preserve their political viability. The whole free-thinkin’ conservative Democrat image is a complete fraud, but it’s an extremely useful one in the sort of purple districts that they need to make their majority. No surprise, then, that she’s greenlit attacks painting her as some sort of demon for the greater good. Speaking of which, Newsweek’s got a new poll of Obama’s approval rating out tonight that’s healthy enough to lead them to predict relatively minor losses for the Democrats in the fall. I’m skeptical, partly because the bit excerpted above suggests they’re already thinking of Dick Morris’s Democratic doomsday dilemma and partly because other polls show The One’s approval rating in swing states to be so horrible that it’s almost guaranteed to sink the Democrats’ candidates there. But hey — that one dollar that was spent to buy the magazine must have bought something.

For your viewing pleasure, here’s Sharron Angle’s new ad goofing on the bizarre love triangle between America’s three most toxic Democrats. Not-so-fun fact: Two out of three Angle supporters in Nevada wish someone else was the nominee?

But hey — that one dollar that was spent to buy the magazine must have bought something.

If the sale price of a company is less than the stand price of its product, it can’t have anything particularly insightful to say.

Attack her in ads.

Okay, Glad I gave that a second look. I thought it said something far more disturbing.

Be attack dogs on Pelosi now, so you can go back to being her lapdogs after Nov. 2.

If Blue Dogs making the odd joke about Pelosi falling down the stairs helps preserve a Democratic majority, hey.

Hey, you remember when those kinds of “wink wink” maledictions of violence or bad fortune were assumed upon Tea Party patriots, whereby they were ridiculed as a “dangerous extremist group” worthy of attention from Homeland Security and tears from Pelosi? Who would’ve thought that that kind of “whisper” violence towards Pelosi would become the democrat incumbent’s campaign strategy for the midterms?

HOUSE DEMOCRATS RENOUNCE THE ENTIRE PARTY LEADERSHIP!

Now there’s a headline.

listens2glenn on August 27, 2010 at 10:33 PM

Actually, the ads not half bad. It places the blame squarely where it belongs, shows how it’s affected Nevada and gives people an alternative. It could have been worse. Let’s face it, Sharron doesn’t have the financing Reid has so she has to try and do this carefully. This ad points out exactly what Harry Reid has accomplished these past 2 years and everyone in Nevada knows how their state is fairing.

OT. The yahoo sports community is up in arms that Tony Larussa and Albert Pujols of the baseball cardinals are going to make an appearance at the Beck rally tomorrow.

over at Powerline they have a couple of races that could go Left because of people splitting the conservative vote

and they mention that the Dems are pretty much banking on this strategy.

R’s don’t have the discipline that the left has…and you have mod R’s who would rather sell the country to the left than to give up power.

we are in a sad way

Love the Angle ad. I’m not surprised by the poll that wishes for someone else. The Repub candidate were very weak. Dean Heller would be up 10 points if he ran.

“At the end of the day, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee will look at races we can win,” Van Hollen said…

In other words, throw the blue dogs to the dogs and save the hard left libtards. They cannot save the battlground so called blue dogs. After that, blame everything that happens fromt he Dem policy lunacy on the GOP.

Guess we should just support harry instead…?

Seriously, why are we always throwing her under the bus? damn it, she’s a solid conservative, she’s the nominee and she’s statistically tied with harry… which means it is anyone’s game to win.

lets pull her over the finish line instead of stomping on her.

Du-uh. And the more they trash Pelosi now, the tighter the leash they’ll be on once they’re elected.

This isn’t anything new; it’s just the Party leadership telling Democrats the same thing as always: “Say whatever the rubes in your district want to hear — But you’d damned well better be lying about it!”

Chris Van Hollen comes off as a moron. They certainly didn’t trade up when he inherited the DCCC from Rahm.

We’ve always known Dems would cannibalize themselves to get ahead.

HotAirExpert on August 28, 2010 at 12:35 AM

… remember the tune Democrats sang when it counted

“Botox made me do it…”

“I didn’t know what was in the bill until it was passed.”

“Read the bill? I don’t need to read any stinking bill. Nancy said it was what San Fran… America wanted.

Hog Wild on August 28, 2010 at 12:41 AM

Do ANY Democrats EVER wake up in the morning and say to themselves, “My God. I am a member of a party of despicable liars and lowlifes.” ?

justltl on August 28, 2010 at 2:46 AM

They just love the smell of face palm in the morning.

Dhuka on August 28, 2010 at 2:52 AM

There is something repelling and cringe-inducing about the idea that the Democratic candidates are given permission by the leadership to trash the leadership in ads, so that they might go back to Washington and serve once more under the same leadership. It just seems so grossly — oh, what’s the word? — DISHONEST.

My desire to see these repugnant freaks who call themselves Democrats run out of town on a rail just got a bit more ardent.

Aitch748 on August 28, 2010 at 8:10 AM

I want to belong to a political party that I can say I’m proud of. I want to be proud about the way we behave and the reason that we involve ourselves with politics in the first place. To our credit, I will say that when we’re accused of, “eating our own”; it means that the party has examined some behavior and considered it unacceptable. To Donks, it means scrambling to distance yourself from whatever the polls say might hurt you politically.

And yeah, I know we have our moments with the GOP. But we’re still nothing like these people.

hawkdriver on August 28, 2010 at 8:56 AM

Gets you to wondering if anyone has ever thought of throwing a bucket of water on Pelosi, just to see what would happen next.

“I think the Democratic leaders have said the job of the members is to reflect the views of their constituents as best as they are able…”

One little question a reporter (ha!) needs to ask these public servants: when listening to the people is announced as a change in your party’s policy, exactly what the hell do you call what you have been doing up until now?

drunyan8315 on August 28, 2010 at 10:22 AM

This election is starting to show the Demoncrates for what they really are cannibals. I right now they are beginning to resembling the Donner Party.

MSGTAS on August 28, 2010 at 10:38 AM

“I think the Democratic leaders have said the job of the members is to reflect the views of their constituents as best as they are able,” he said.

Too bad they can’t “reflect” their constituents views when IT COMES TIME TO VOTE ON LEGISLATION.

Translation of instructions: “LIE TO THEM!”

GarandFan on August 28, 2010 at 11:21 AM

Beware the trojan horse, here.
Since they’ll not identify themselves as DEMs in their ads,
some less-informed voters will watch them trash Nanzi and/or Prince Hairy, and think they’re actually a more conservative choice !!

pambi on August 28, 2010 at 5:48 PM

This shows exactly what kind of people the democrats actually are. They will sell their souls to retain power. The Obama regime knows that they are in trouble and stand to lose the majority and his leftist and socialist agenda will come to a sudden halt so now he has issued the word. Retain power at all costs. As another poster stated- once re-elected they return to their former role- lap dogs for Pelosi and Reid and of course, Obama. Be on the lookout for more Black Panthers involved at the polls, Holder has given them the green light and watch for massive voter fraud. The democrats have mastered that craft.
