Bloomberg on Ground Zero mosque opponents: Eh, it’s about the election

posted at 6:30 pm on August 27, 2010 by Allahpundit

The money bit comes at 4:00. I assume he’s referring to Gingrich, Palin, and other Republican politicos here, not the 71 percent of the public that opposes the mosque. But it’s not clear, which makes this an odd blip in the usual narrative among mosque supporters. Instead of dismissing opposition to it as a deeply felt, semi-psychotic byproduct of the primitive wingnut mind, Bloomy suggests it’s a coolly calculated yet cynical political gambit aimed at picking up House seats. And even stranger than that is the fact that the guy who’s taking the most offense at his theory is Mark Halperin of Time, whom you may remember for his recent column urging the GOP not to use the mosque issue as … a coolly calculated yet cynical political gambit aimed at picking up House seats. (Jim Geraghty’s rejoinder is a must-read.) Then again, the paradox of the “calculating primitive” is nothing new: That was also basically the read on Bush, who was alternately a chimp who needed help going to the toilet and a neo-Hitler deceiving the world into apocalypse as his opponents’ narrative demanded.

The best part here comes at around 6:15 when Stewart and Bloomberg try to figure out why Americans would be more curious about the financing of a mosque than of a church or temple. Not three weeks ago, the German government finally shut down the Hamburg mosque where some of the 9/11 hijackers met; other hijackers patronized a mosque in San Diego led by future jihadi kingpin Anwar al-Aulaqi; Stephen Schwartz, himself a convert to Islam, has spoken out for years against Wahhabist influence in American mosques; and of course the FBI long ago adopted the practice of placing informants inside mosques to find out if any “extracurriculars” are going on there. That the mayor of the city in which the Towers used to stand can’t see why Americans at least want to know where the money’s coming from explains in part why the arguments from prominent GZM supporters aren’t affecting public opinion. Most people simply don’t trust American leaders to speak candidly about this issue. Read atheist (and conservative-hater) Sam Harris for more on that.

Speaking of Park51 financing, the latest idea is tax-free municipal bonds. They have a right to build on their property, so they should have the same right to avail themselves of public funds as any other religious group. But I’ve got a funny hunch this won’t help with the polling.

Bloomberg is taking Political correctness to a suicidal level. If he doesn’t clearly see why 71 % of the nation do not agree with the Ground Zero Mosque location, than he is either a fool, or completely out of touch.

Bloomberg is just another example of how liberalism is a mental disorder when he has lost perception of reality in how those who have elected him really think. How does people like Bloomberg really get elected to represent people he has nothing in common with anyway? His arrogance is reflected in the disdain he has for the common man. Unless the average American wakes up and turns swill like Bloomberg out of office, the voters will look like uneducated shills exploited because they lack the intelligence to think like those who think they are entitled to lead by birth.

The solution is simple if the Muslims want a solution. They have to understand the sensitivity involved and in a spirit of understanding just move the Mosque. The fact that they won’t and stand in defiance is proof of their intention to consider this a worldwide victory symbol and triumph over America.

Back in the 1800′s it was Southern culture, almost religion, to have human beings as property. Did those in the North say, “Hey it’s their culture, so we should be tolerent of it and any who are not are intolerant bigoted Southernophopes! And we must let them build monuments at places where they killed enemies of keeping human beings as property?” Of course they didn’t as they were too smart and too moral to say that. Why are so many so stupid and/or morally bereft today, like the schlamiel Bloomberg, when it comes to tolerating Islam, which keeps woman as property, just to mention one of Islam’s many hideous practices.

Unlimited tolerance must lead to the disappearance of tolerance. If we extend unlimited tolerance even to those who are intolerant, if we are not prepared to defend a tolerant society against the onslaught of the intolerant, then the tolerant will be destroyed and tolerance with them. We should therefore claim, in the name of tolerance, the right not to tolerate the intolerant. Some reporter/interviewer had better dig a little deeper re Bloomberg’s deal-making with his enterprises in the ME and how he plans to profit through the connections and cronyism that he is cultivating.

VDH had a great essay following the one he wrote on Greece (in the Headlines), which appeared in Pajamas Media, as well as NRO. Bloomberg is an “Islam idiot” and the worst kind of dhimmi, willing to sell out to the “prophet” for his own profit. He insults his fellow NYers and American citizens who are not accepting of a Muslim con job perpetrated through taqqiya.

onlineanalyst on August 27, 2010 at 8:15 PM

The unprecedented furor over plans for a mosque complex at Ground Zero tells us there is a coalescing sense that Islam is more than a “mere” religion as non-Muslims conceive of “religion.” It is becoming clear to people, despite the gag of political correctness, that there’s a reason “Islam” means “submission.” Islam not only seeks to order the spiritual realm inhabited by a Muslim and Allah, it lays out a doctrine to control every believer’s behavior (down to the most intimate bodily functions) as well as the public life of the collective. Doctrinally, Islam is thus “doubly totalitarian” in the words of G.H. Bousquet, a leading scholar of Islamic law, in accordance with the body of law known as Shariah. Under Shariah, freedom of conscience and freedom of speech are outlawed with extreme sanction (those who leave Islam fear death to this day), while non-Muslims and women exist as legal inferiors to the Muslim man. Meanwhile, jihad — holy war to extend Islamic rule — is a sacred command. And I have the books that prove it.

In other words, this isn’t Islam because I say so, but because its sacred, authoritative, mainstream, non-hijacked, untwisted texts say so. It is the religious and political and legal ideology that inspired the al-Qaida killers on 9/11, and it is the religious and political and legal ideology that inspires the mosque complex at Ground Zero. And I didn’t come up with that, folks; I just happened to notice, and thought you should know.

So we have two self-congratulatory schmucks patting each other on the back for their “tolerance” and concern for the Constitution. Yet the multi-storey sharia law initiative housed in this faux peace and love center does not work at cross purposes with our Constitution?

Will Bloomberg be “sensitive” to the demands of worshippers and “scholars” at this mosque when they insist that businesses offensive to their holy site must be removed from the vicinity? Will he cede to demands that NYC allow sharia to supersede municipal and state law?

Bloomberg may delude himself that this mosque is a fabulous multi-culti effort at bridge building, but European experience in this issue shows that Muslim communities deliberately do not assimilate. They expand their sphere of influence and (out of fear of offending) politically correct leaders give in to more and more demands that do not offend Muslims.

The freedom to practice their faith as Muslims ends when it intrudes on or threatens my faith practice and freedoms.

Like a typical Dem/dhimmi, Bloomberg tells an inconsequential anecdote about his hamburger date that is interrupted by a former armed service member, and that singular tale is supposed to wipe away the insult and pain wreaked on the people of NYC who lost lives in a horrific attack done in the name of Islam. It wouldn’t surprise me if Bloomberg has personal financial interest (as some bloggers have alleged) in the building of the WTC mosque. This guy, like George Soros (currently buying up US Govt debt instruments and getting out of the stock market ahead of a big time crash) never makes a decision without making deals and considering its financial implications.

If ANYBODY has hard data of what Middle Eastern deals Bloomberg may have made in order to sign off on this cruel decision which spits in the faces of all victims and their friends and relatives, we would all appreciate corporate and individual names. Bloomberg needs to be recalled. It’s become apparent he is a danger to us and needs to replaced with someone who understands that the Islamists have declared war on us and are working to establish a global Islamic state, as commanded by the Koran. We must start fighting back.

Follow the Money: Could Mayor Bloomberg’s Media Business Interests in the Middle East Have Anything to Do with His Support of the Ground Zero Mosque?

Very, very interesting. I think that explains quite a bit. Another case of a “trans-nationalist” American politician screwing the American people for his own benefit.

Django on August 27, 2010 at 11:39 PM

Excuse me Mr. Bloomberg,
I’ll make this easy:
1. Americans, contrary to your belief are not stupid.
2. We know you’re as corrupt as a three dollar bill.
3. You neglect the fact that the attack an America on September 11th effected all Americans.

You prided yourself today on camera as being the Chairman for the Monument for Victims of the Assualt today. So I say WHY IS THE AREA STILL A WHOLE IN THE GROUND AFTER 9 YEARS?

See, it’s easy. Talking points, one two three, four.

More contempt for the country class from the ruling elite.

The solution is simple if the Muslims want a solution. They have to understand the sensitivity involved and in a spirit of understanding just move the Mosque. The fact that they won’t and stand in defiance is proof of their intention to consider this a worldwide victory symbol and triumph over America.

People need to understand that Islam forbids what those terrorist did. No where in the Koran dose it allow killing in the name of Allah. Only Allah (God)has power over life and death. It is only allowed to kill someone in self defense of your self or loved ones when your being attacked.
The terrorists are perverting the Islamic religion.
What happen to freedom of religion as a foundation of America. IS it freedom of religion except Islam? I think it is great idea to put the mosque near the ground zero so people can learn that Islam dose not allow what these idiots did. Read the Koran and learn. Open your minds instead of following blindly what bigots vomit about Islam. Go and talk to a Sunni Muslim and learn the truth. Muslims are not anti-Christ, Moon worshipers, or pagans. They are for most part very peaceful people. The negative stuff like female genital mutilation, honor killing, and other horrible acts are not Islam and are not supported in any Islamic teaching. In fact they are forbidden. It is local customs that are at fault not the religion. In every religion you have those who do not follow the religion as they should. Islam is the same. Please everyone seek the truth your self, not just lesson to some idiot who knows nothing of Islam.

You would think that about this time that even New Yorkers with cast-iron strong stomachs would be nauseated with Bloomberg for the gutless appeasement approach he has taken on the Ground Zero mosque.

If Giuliani was still calling the shots out there, you can bet that even the very conception of the idea of building this thing would never have seen the light of day, and every New Yorker would have stood behind him for taking that stand.

pilamaye on August 28, 2010 at 9:53 AM

I assume he’s referring to Gingrich, Palin, and other Republican politicos here, not the 71 percent of the public that opposes the mosque.

I think that’s giving him too much credit.

The next election cycle isn’t soon enough for this bag of bile to be physically thrown out of office.

BLOOMY is what the RULING CLASS is like at their cocktail parties in Georgetown…….

…..aloof, progressive, arrogant, and Darwinian.

We’re all HILLBILLIES / SERFS / and they are our LORDS AND MASTERS.

And here is another aspect that sticks in the craw: It may be possible for the Ground Zero mosque and Cordoba sharia initiative center to receive public funding.

All against the teachings of Islam.

Ed Laskie on August 29, 2010 at 6:04 AM

Hitler was a Christian dose that make all Christians Nazis?
Read the Koran and talk to a Sunni Muslim and your eyes will be opened. Don’t hate someone who you don’t even know except from those who hate Muslims and who distort and lie.

Ed Laskie on August 29, 2010 at 6:09 AM

Hitler was a Christian dose that make all Christians Nazis?

No he wasn’t. He was most famously atheist and pagan. Nazi ideology rested on Nietzsche’s concept that because of the “Death of God” Man should worship his own Will. Hitler despised Christianity because it’s “blessed are the meek” ethos made men into the opposite of his ideal of the ubermensch. The only religion he halfway admired was Islam because it made young men into warriors.
