Bristol Palin to appear on Dancing With The Stars?
posted at 5:55 pm on August 26, 2010 by Cassy Fiano
Um… OK. Is this some kind of Levi Johnston payback or something? Levi will struggle with some lame reality show that no one watches, while Bristol looks amazing in sparkly skimpy outfits on a show that’s already proven to be ratings gold. Is this her thought process?
We can report to you exclusively that Sarah Palin’s 19-year-old daughter Bristol Palin has been cast on the 11th season of DWTS, set to premiere Sept. 20, according to sources.
As for the reports that David Hasselhoff, Audrina Patridge, The Situation and Brandy will also be part of the cast, here’s the deal:
All true, according to sources.
Of course, since this is just according to “sources”, she might not even be a member of the cast. But if she is… well, I guess it’s good payback. She and Levi were supposedly going to have their own reality show together before Levi soaked up all of the “we’re engaged!” publicity and split. At least she’s on a show that’s a guaranteed hit, while Levi’s show will likely drift off somewhere into TV wasteland. (I hope, anyways.)
Meanwhile, can you just imagine the liberal heads exploding if Bristol does well on the show? Oh, boy. I hope she’s ready for the vitriol that’s sure to be aimed her way. On the other hand… it’ll be worth watching just for the hateful “ZOMG BRISTOL IS WINNING ITS A CONSPIRACY!!!!1!!11!!” commentary alone.

Like, doing a reality show.
Esthier on August 26, 2010 at 7:04 PM
Until I see ABC announce this, I’m assuming it’s nothing but a Hollywood rumor and smart people should do likewise.
Jenfidel on August 26, 2010 at 7:04 PM
Palin is pretty determined to expose the rest of America to Alaska, and in turn, promote it’s vast resources. If everything she’s doing works and ties together, you may think differently.
She just had a 4 part series on Greta on ANWR and Alaska’s oil.
When you look at what she’s doing together, there’s a plan to her madness. I don’t think many people see it.
darwin on August 26, 2010 at 7:06 PM
To most people it isn’t, except maybe to those who think the Palins should all be tight-assed waxworks of the Washington clan.
ddrintn on August 26, 2010 at 7:06 PM
Maybe. And I’d believe it if Palin said she was asked to do it by TLC, but I still don’t see how this was a wise choice for her. She’s considered an intellectual and political lightweight. That’s not deserved, but going on reality TV shows does nothing to help it. If she’s going to be able to make the sort of changes she says she wants to in order to help America, this is something she needs to take seriously.
I’m not even talking about the possibility that she might run for president. I’m even just talking about her helping elect candidates that support the Constitution and helping bring attention to important political events.
Esthier on August 26, 2010 at 7:07 PM
Wasn’t alive during Nixon, but yes, I thought Clinton was vacuous for going on both.
Esthier on August 26, 2010 at 7:08 PM
BTW, if you can’t tell from the post above, we really like DWTS. Tom Bergeron is funny, Brooke Burke is stunning, the production quality is top-notch and looks great in hi-def.
…and those titillating dance outfits are a nice bonus ;)
ornery_independent on August 26, 2010 at 7:08 PM
I must have missed the Palin version of “The Osbournes”.
ddrintn on August 26, 2010 at 7:08 PM
And if she doesn’t, that says something even worse about her.
Esthier on August 26, 2010 at 7:08 PM
Whoa! Hey I was referring to Kate plus 20, or whatever they call her. She was called that by someone else, I just repeated it.
I support Palin.
darwin on August 26, 2010 at 7:08 PM
Where in:
did you extract Sarah and Kate are best friends? I was referring to her decision making process. Would you rather Sarah be decisive or someone who is bound by formalities from a network which specializes in reality tv programming? I was paying her a compliment for being a highly independent woman, even if her decision to shoot an episode with Kate wasn’t what I’d do as a serious political player.
Bee on August 26, 2010 at 7:08 PM
I don’t think it was “vacuous”, although some things he said on those shows were. Going on the shows was pretty damn smart.
ddrintn on August 26, 2010 at 7:09 PM
And because she’s a bimbo who only got where she did because of her last name. I’d be saying that even if she agreed with me.
Esthier on August 26, 2010 at 7:09 PM
So then you just reinforce what I said about “team player”. Thanks.
ddrintn on August 26, 2010 at 7:10 PM
I’m not helping her. I’m just pointing out the obvious. Bee offered to apologize if she was wrong, but none of you who said she was wrong have apologized for the horrible things you said to her then. That was wrong, and you shouldn’t feel good about it.
The goal posts… they are moving!
Why contradict yourself? On the one hand, you’re saying she had no choice in the reality show thing with Kate. On the other, you’re saying she’s her own woman.
I completely agree with your latter point, but it completely contradicts your former one.
Esthier on August 26, 2010 at 7:11 PM
So is she supposed to take on a life of poverty and anonymity simply because her parents are rich? Good grief. Whatever she does could always be attributed to her last name.
ddrintn on August 26, 2010 at 7:11 PM
Smart people? Like the ones who couldn’t tell the emperor was naked?
I’m reserving judgment about this personally, but there’s plenty of evidence that suggestions this might be true, and there’s nothing unintelligent about assuming it is. That’s what people would call an educated guess.
Esthier on August 26, 2010 at 7:12 PM
Like what?
Jenfidel on August 26, 2010 at 7:13 PM
darwin on August 26, 2010 at 7:08 PM
Sorry! My bad? I miss read you.
sandee on August 26, 2010 at 7:14 PM
Maybe so, but I’m not confident it’s working the way she might want. The nature show was fine, in my opinion. It’s not a reality show. It’s serious.
Kate Plus 8 is not.
Esthier on August 26, 2010 at 7:14 PM
No prob.
darwin on August 26, 2010 at 7:15 PM
1. She’s a serious political player.
2. She has a docu/reality show in the works.
3. She chose to work with a noted celebrity seeker/reality “star.”
That’s what I said. Explain “team player.”
Bee on August 26, 2010 at 7:16 PM
No, like people who don’t get their “news” from magazines they buy at the checkout stand at the grocery store.
but
???
Then why don’t you take an “educated” look at the Photoshopped “picture” of Bristol at the link I posted?
And intelligence doesn’t come into it, when it’s your more knee-jerk prurient and hateful scold-self that’s preeminent.
Got that Scarlet Letter ready for Bristol to wear on the show yet?
Jenfidel on August 26, 2010 at 7:16 PM
It was the biggest Palin supporters who were most against it, not those who don’t like her. For the record, I love Palin, didn’t think the Kate thing was a huge deal but did think it was a bad move.
Esthier on August 26, 2010 at 7:17 PM
There’s more than one type of reality show.
I disagree. Without Perot in the race, there’s no guarantee he would have won.
You have a talent for twisting my words. Seriously, cheers to you!
I suppose you could also say the same of Levi, though even more so since he doesn’t have rich parents. Why shouldn’t he become Ricky Hollywood and make some dough?
Esthier on August 26, 2010 at 7:19 PM
If TLC made it a condition of her contract and they’re paying her over $10 million to do her show, it’s not really a matter of “choice,” is it?
It’s not as if Sarah requested or “chose” for Kate to be on her show.
Frankly, I’ve never watched the Kate show and wouldn’t know her if she bit me on the b*tt.
Jenfidel on August 26, 2010 at 7:20 PM
That she’s a puppet with no control over her life, or at least that she isn’t a leader.
Esthier on August 26, 2010 at 7:21 PM
We’ll see. I think someone who can manage to unseat an incumbent Republican governor, fight corruption and bring the oil companies to heel probably has a good handle on what she’s doing.
Remember the Palin rule … she’s unconventional and unpredictable. That’s what scares the democrats and media.
Oh, about Kate. You don’t think having Kate on the show is a good way to introduce her viewers to Palin?
darwin on August 26, 2010 at 7:21 PM
I actually think it’s fine what Megs does. I certainly disagree with her and she’s not exactly a fan of mine (even though I’ve defended her, she blocked me on twitter for an article I wrote about her cavorting with, er, reality star Tia Tequila and her inane noH8 contribution), but I think her writing/blogging is pretty respectable (content aside).
Bee on August 26, 2010 at 7:21 PM
Ginormous tatas had something to do with Allah’s obsession, at least.
Brian1972 on August 26, 2010 at 7:21 PM
Because the whole “Ricky Hollywood” thing was about his connection to the Palins.
By himself, he’s cute to look at, but he has nothing to say and it’s obvious he’s dumber than a box of rocks and not as interesting.
People like this don’t get a show, no matter how poor or rich their parents are.
Jenfidel on August 26, 2010 at 7:22 PM
Agreed.
Rudy Giuliani can appear in drag on SNL and have it work to his advantage because there was no popular perception that he was a lightweight or didn’t know what he was talking about. In fact, it was a good move because the main (false) image that his detractors were promoting was that he was a hateful right-winger that used Nazi tactics to force everyone in NY to do what he wanted. Going on a popular comedy show and poking fun at himself just made people like him.
For Palin, the false image that’s being spread is that she’s stupid. Appearing on reality shows does not counteract this as the common perception people have about most reality show participants is that they aren’t that smart. From The Hills to The Osbournes to I Love NY and The Bachelor and Jersey Shore, the participants are widely seen as idiots whose trainwreck lives are fun escapist entertainment. Although the realty programs Sarah Palin is doing are not that sort of bottom-of-the-barrel programing, it does not seem wise to allow “Sarah Palin” and “reality television” to continuously appear in the connection.
JadeNYU on August 26, 2010 at 7:23 PM
With whom?
I’d like to see Track go against Levi inside of Thunderdome.
Definitely more along the lines of “real news”, but we need some entertainment every so often. :)
listens2glenn on August 26, 2010 at 7:23 PM
Whew! You got all that from her doing a show on the beauty and wonder of Alaska?
For the second time of asking, did you feel this way about Ronald Reagan doing the Texaco Star Theater?
Jenfidel on August 26, 2010 at 7:24 PM
She’s not doing any reality programs. It’s one show, and it’s a documentary.
darwin on August 26, 2010 at 7:24 PM
Cause that’ll prove something? I’m not arguing with you on whether or not it was photoshopped.
WTF? You won’t even write oral or anal, but I’m the prude? I don’t want her in a nunnery. This isn’t about her stupid past decision but about a stupid potential future one. If she goes on this show, she’ll be milking her 15 just as her ex has. That’s all.
Esthier on August 26, 2010 at 7:24 PM
If it’s contractual, I would hope someone seeking the highest office in the land would have read the fine print.
Incidentally, how do you know she didn’t select it herself?
Bee on August 26, 2010 at 7:26 PM
I watch a few shows on TLC and they always cross visit. Both Kate and Mrs. Dugger (2 million kids & counting) were on “Say Yes to the Dress” and Kate visited the cake guy with kids. Since the theme in Kate Gosselin’s show is her experiences visiting different places I am sure TLC thought Alaska would be perfect. I think I read that Ms. Gosselin disagreed once she got there.
Cindy Munford on August 26, 2010 at 7:27 PM
That’s the Palin I miss dearly. Fame can change people. I’m not saying it has Palin, but the signs are there.
Certainly, but so was Obama. Unconventional and unpredictable can work well, but it can also backfire.
No, I don’t. I think introducing herself to any viewers in this manner does little to help her gain credibility as a political commenter or candidate (if she ever wants that). I wouldn’t say it’s as bad as those who were introduced to her by Tina Fey, but I do think it does more to cement the impression that Palin isn’t serious than it does to make her seem credible.
Just my opinion obviously.
Esthier on August 26, 2010 at 7:28 PM
Watch? Heck, I’m going to vote!
huckleberryfriend on August 26, 2010 at 7:29 PM
You have a very good blog post in the Green Room..:)
Dire Straits on August 26, 2010 at 7:29 PM
Fair point. She’s an attractive woman.
Esthier on August 26, 2010 at 7:29 PM
You’re a typical Democrat: Liberality for me, but not for thee.
You have one set of “standards” for yourself and your friends, however loose, but if someone on the Right is thought to be immoral, they’re condemned.
Notice the Left’s howling about Ken Mehlman coming out, even though they’re the party of choice for the GLBT crowd.
She’s a pretty, charming girl with a sweet personality and she has a famous mother (and Bristol is semi-famous in her own right).
If she can dance, it will make for a great show.
But I still think the Hollywood MSM is having us all on.
Jenfidel on August 26, 2010 at 7:30 PM
Of course so is Bristol’s fame.
I take it for granted that Bristol’s more intelligent (even without a lot of evidence to prove it), but she doesn’t seem that interesting. She delivered a horrible performance on “The Secret Life” and came across as completely flat.
Esthier on August 26, 2010 at 7:31 PM
I can’t imagine that/sarc..The shore of it is that Kate is a B!tch..:)
Dire Straits on August 26, 2010 at 7:32 PM
We can sit here and speculate, but I think we’ll have to watch the show for final judgement.
darwin on August 26, 2010 at 7:32 PM
Just a feeling, but maybe she did…I’m sure Sarah felt compassion for Kate as a single mother raising all those kids by herself and may have thought a camping trip in the Alaska wilds with Sarah’s dad giving science lessons would be just the ticket.
Maybe she’ll tell us someday.
Jenfidel on August 26, 2010 at 7:33 PM
For the record, most of what I’ve read about the Gosselins has been a site developed by a friend of the family and includes testimonies from both sides of the family. The fame/money hunger began long ago and, oddly, Jon’s antics of late have done much more to revamp Kate’s image in the public’s eyes than any reality show or breast augmentation ever could. ;)
Why………do I know this stuff??? *sigh*
Bee on August 26, 2010 at 7:33 PM
Exactly.
This isn’t necessarily the end of the world or anything. It’s just not a great move.
Esthier on August 26, 2010 at 7:33 PM
Sorry..:)
Dire Straits on August 26, 2010 at 7:33 PM
Damn, you’re cruel!
So, she’s not an actress.
Maybe she’s a better dancer.
I’ll believe it when ABC announces it.
Jenfidel on August 26, 2010 at 7:34 PM
No. Read back to what I was responding to if you want to know what I was talking about, but it had nothing to do with her doing a show like that. It was about her not being in charge and not making these decisions.
I answered you the first time, Jen.
Esthier on August 26, 2010 at 7:34 PM
What if she wins the whole thing, and it turns into a nice PR coup?
Or alternatively, she does pretty well, but when she gets eliminated the left goes into full on slander freakout again, thus backfiring on themselves?
The outcomes, if this is true, are not all bad.
Brian1972 on August 26, 2010 at 7:34 PM
I’m going to settle this argument once and for all about whom the biggest prude is; it’s ME.
The rest of you got to fight over “second fiddle”.

Thanks! Which one if you don’t mind me asking?
Bee on August 26, 2010 at 7:35 PM
If the Palinista vote for her..Bristol will do fine..:)
Dire Straits on August 26, 2010 at 7:36 PM
I’m sure that’s exactly how it happened. I just still believe it was a bad idea on Palin’s part to have anything to do with it. Going any further into reality TV than a program that was more or less a documentary, just can’t help her any.
Esthier on August 26, 2010 at 7:36 PM
Ebonics applications..:)
Dire Straits on August 26, 2010 at 7:37 PM
I use to watch Jon & Kate Plus Eight because I am a frustrated grandmother. Those kids are simply adorable. As screwy as the parents are they are probably made for each other. I don’t watch anymore because of the drama. But all of those shows on TLC visit each other so I thought I would mention it because it is unfair to suggest the Gov. Palin is trying to profit off of Kate Gosselin’s “popularity”. Ms. Gosselin doesn’t seem like someone you would hang around with on purpose. Can I have her kids?
Cindy Munford on August 26, 2010 at 7:37 PM
I’ll wait and see but I bet the show on Alaska is going to be beautiful. Since it is not some place I am likely to get to visit I look forward to watching.
Cindy Munford on August 26, 2010 at 7:39 PM
Well, you’ll be happy to know that the DWTS “press conference” (Dear Lord, they have a press conference, I tell you!) is during the entirely respectable reality program “The Bachelor Pad” which I am currently eating up. Not that that means anything, just a point of interest.
Bee on August 26, 2010 at 7:39 PM
Yes, I’m really cool with my own b@stard children and reality shows, but I hate Bristol for copying me. You got me, Jen.
Of course I’m not judging her morals here, but don’t let that stop you, Jen. You never do.
It might be a great show. Wouldn’t know, won’t watch. Reality TV is hell on Earth.
I imagine a reality show with her and Levi planning their wedding would have been a decent show too. Doesn’t make it a smart decision.
Esthier on August 26, 2010 at 7:39 PM
Well, I don’t imagine it’ll air anymore since Kate flaked.
Esthier on August 26, 2010 at 7:40 PM
The one about the “Ebonics translator” job openings @ DOJ..:)
Dire Straits on August 26, 2010 at 7:40 PM
So she shouldn’t act. That’s not cruel. Surely she has other ways to make money.
Who cares? It’s not as though it’s her job to be a good dancer.
OK.
Esthier on August 26, 2010 at 7:41 PM
The one about DOJ job openings..:)
PS..For some reason my post got eaten twice..
Dire Straits on August 26, 2010 at 7:42 PM
I bet it will and fully support that show. I just thinking doing anything more than that is unwise.
Esthier on August 26, 2010 at 7:42 PM
As long as we’re talking Palins and reality shows, remember that the American Chopper guys appeared at a McCain-Palin event in 2008, and then they went to Alaska and met with Sarah in the Governor’s office, with the bearskin on the couch. She has done this with TLC before, however briefly.
I’m not into these girly dancy family shows, so I would like to see a TLC camera crew follow Todd and his partner getting prepared for, and then competing in the Irondog snowmachine race. That would be more my speed than a bunch of dancing stars or screaming kids.
I am looking forward to this documentary though.
That should be good stuff about the last frontier.
Brian1972 on August 26, 2010 at 7:44 PM
I definitely don’t think Palin needs Kate’s “popularity!” Goodness no. Having read all that stuff I already had about Kate/Jon and seeing the tabloidization of their lives, much of it willful, I questioned the judgment to participate in the show.
But, yeah…the kids are adorable! :)
Bee on August 26, 2010 at 7:44 PM

Bristol, not Sarah … moron.
Who’s the empty suit now?
gary4205 on August 26, 2010 at 8:01 PM
Palin could spend the next 4 years at the Kennedy School and she’d still be considered a “lightweight” by some.
Here’s the simple fact: Palin does her own thing, and apparently her daughter does as well. If she decides to run for president and “doing her own thing” drags her down, so be it. But the idea that everyone must follow some sort of Hoover Path to the Presidency and never ever say or do anything out of keeping with extreme gravitas just may not be applicable in all cases anymore.

Dire Straits on August 26, 2010 at 8:09 PM
Talking about moron bait. All the usual hate filled suspects showed up for this one!
Look, Dancing With The Stars is a clean, wholesome, family show. Millions upon millions of families watch it religiously.
How is the a bad thing. Yeah, a few dirt bags have been on the thing, but so have some pretty well respected stars.
It’s not really my taste, but it’s a nice competition. They pair a “star” up with a professional dancer, who tries to turn the “star” into a somewhat competent dancer themselves, then they compete. Competition is a GOOD THING. (unless you are a communist)
Bristol already has a relationship with ABC, through her spot on one of their shows. The girl is an athlete, and probably a fair dancer. (most gals in small towns are)
She’s drop dead gorgeous, when fixed up, and should look quite glamorous in her outfits.
Anyone who thinks this somehow hurts Sarah is a
doubletriple moron. Wishful thinking. This is a win/win, because it IS wholesome TV, and it will cause the left to absolutely loose it’s mind. While they are busy going insane over this, Sarah and the rest of us Conservatives will be helping take back Congress.
The bottom line is this is fun, Bristol has the opportunity to do it, so damn it, let the kid have some fun!
gary4205 on August 26, 2010 at 8:19 PM
Wow, we sure are damned lucky to have someone of such esteem as yourself to be the arbiter of what is OK and what is not!
gary4205 on August 26, 2010 at 8:25 PM
You must be the stupidest human being that ever breathed.
Your idiotic trolling is getting quite tedious.
Look, stupid, TV contracts are what they are. Many shows on networks cross-promote. Fictional shows have various characters do each other’s shows, as do “reality” shows. happens all of the time. Good for ratings.
My guess is Sarah saw it is yet another way to show Alaska in a good light to folks that might not normally watch. (Kate’s fans) That was TLC’s plan as well.
That’s pretty good thinking.
Sarah, or TLC can’t help Kate is a douche bag diva. That’s all on Kate.
Only someone with a truly diseased mind would carry on about this like you are and try to make it about Sarah.
Take your concern trolling on down the road.

This girl is an embarrassment! Last month, she was posing on a weekly magazine announcing her 2nd engagement.
The day after the magazine came out, she ended the engagement.
Now, she is to appear on a dancing show.
Isn’t this show supposed to be Dancing with the STARS?
Are they gonna change the show to Dancing with people who make the front cover of the National Enquirer?
lonestar1 on August 26, 2010 at 9:04 PM
What exactly is the problem here? If this were one of John Kerry’s daughters, no one would think twice.
Similarly, if Malia or Sasha tries something like this in ten years or so, it’s not going to be a scandal.
It’s a dancing competition.
Kensington on August 26, 2010 at 9:12 PM
Levi is “sorry that he apologized to Sarah” and will be on one of the early morning shows (tomorrow?). How long are we going to have to hear about this dimwit?
silvernana on August 26, 2010 at 9:34 PM
While Bristol is certainly not a STAR, many of the contestants aren’t. Many are of notable mention in some way, but I have never heard of many of them.
The show is escapist, glamorous, with sparkly costumes and fun dancing.
I hope Bristol looks wonderful, dances well, and has a great time.
In a time when many babies are left for hours and hours, day after day in the care of strangers, how can anyone be upset that her little boy’s grandparents will be more than happy to take care of him in her absence!

It has to do with Sarah Palin. Different rules apply, as you well know.
ddrintn on August 26, 2010 at 10:00 PM
No, they aren’t.
She recently gave that tour on Greta of ANWR with some excellent points on Alaska’s resources and expounded at length on them.
Just today she invited union members to join the movement rejecting the liberal agenda that is harming this nation.
She’s made several comments and appearances over these past months that have not just contributed to the national dialogue but shaped it.
KittyLowrey on August 26, 2010 at 10:11 PM
Sheesh. Lighten up. Let’s not confuse Sarah with her daughter, folks. And Bristol isn’t that horses arse of an “attention whore” boyfriend, either. This isn’t posing half naked, for crying out loud.
Seems to me Bristol can legitimately enjoy what any girl her age would absolutely love…the challenge of learning choreographed dancing in fabulous costumes with a professional whose job it is to teach and coach her to learn steps and routines that will make her look and feel like Ginger Rogers or Cyd Charisse.

Bristol Palin is an out-and-out embarrassment. Please make her go away.
I am not a Palin hater…and I am not a Palinbot Zombie lover either. The truth is I like her and find most criticism of her to be like the criticism of Bush…mostly unfounded, nasty and a campaign to sully her rep.
HOWEVER, the one thing I have to agree with is her and her daughter’s pursuit of the spotlight. Sorry, I cannot deny it anymore. It is credible.
I think BP is an out and out nutter and I wish she would go away!

I think CBS could score a huge coup if they put Levi and Bristol on the next Big Brother series.
